Best ice cream?

Salt & Straw at Disney Springs. They do have some wild flavors that change out regularly, but they have some normal, staple flavors too. The quality is good though and if you are up for trying something a little out there, then go for it. You can always ask for a small sample too.

Yeah I saw that I was put off by the odd flavours. At Ample Hills my favourite was the ooey gooey butter cake yum

I used to loooove Ample Hills, what is the next best icecream in WDW now?
I talk about the Ooey Gooey Butter Cake all the time!! I miss it so much. I loved walking back to BW from Epcot at night and getting ice cream and sitting on a bench by the water. I just get Mickey Bars now.

I know I'm so sad that it closed down and that you have to go all the way to DS to get icecream.

The Strawberry Coconut water sherbet was so delicious. I'm I'm usually more on the side of ice cream. Super refreshing on a hot day though!

Yes, they have some unusual flavors and their monthly rotations, but they also have lots of normal stuff like chocloate brownie or salted caramel, and of course double-vanilla. Don't be put off by it. Also, some of their monthly flavors aren't all that odd - right now it's a berries theme. Looks like they have Banana Bread with Strawberry, and Berry Slab Pie - those don't seem too weird.

Personally I like trying the unusual flavors, and they have always been quite good. I know that around Thanksgiving, they sometimes do things like turkey and gravy, and that might even be a bridge too far for me, but the Pear & Bleu Cheese or the Honey Lavender? Yes, please!

It's hard to find good quality ice cream at WDW that's not strictly middle of the road. Most Disney-owned venues scoop the usual Edy's, which isn't bad, but it ain't Ample Hills. Check out Ghirardelli at DS if Salt & Straw scares you.

Yes. They have some weird flavors, some crazy but good flavors, and some totally normal flavors.

Not sure how/why you would be "put off" by the whole business because one or two of the flavors didn't appeal to you...

It's the "weird" flavors that attract me to it, but if you jsut want vanilla or chocolate then they have that too. In all farirness, I have never tried any of those flavors - why would I when I can get something made with olive oil or bleu cheese? I can get vanilla or chocolate anywhere. For all I know their normal flavors could be terrible, but based on the quality that I percieve, I doubt it.

That's because I have kids with me and I wouldn't be going all the way to DS to then find out that they only have cricket icecream. I didn't realise they also had more standard flavours, so I will definitely give it a try :)

Fair enough! I doubt strawberry balsamic or honey lavender would be home runs for younger kids. But hey if they're interested, the staff is very good about sample spoons 😉

If you're still in Epcot there is L'Artisan des Glaces in the France Pavillion. I think that's the only ice cream you can get that isn't a pre-packaged Mickey Bar or whatever.
Totally agree with this choice. And they offer ice cream martinis with Grand Marnier, vodka or rum that are a nice treat for adults! :goodvibes

L'Artisan des Glacés is our go to for ice cream at Disney. It's on my wife's must do list. Cone in a cup and usually the caramel apple/cinnamon flavor for us. We'd never had the Ample Hills and it sounds like we missed out.

I know it isn't premium quality ice cream, but the No Way Jose at Beaches & Cream is an outstanding treat.

I don't think I have tried Salt and Straw but we have liked Vivoli in DS. In Epcot, always L'Artisan del GLACES

Agree with the recommendation of the place and agree with the cinnamon caramel apple as my favorite flavor. Ice cream is my big weakness-also love having a No Way Jose Sundae at Beaches and Cream (it's not that special, but love the combination of chocolate and peanut butter sauces). And it's not mentioned much, but I also love the Ocean Beach Sea Salt Caramel sundae at Ghirardelli's. For me, the big draw there is more the consistency of the whipped cream than anything else. Didn't find Boardwalk ice cream that great, and although some people rave about the Fountain, I was unimpressed.
