Awesome!!
Are these in order of any kind of rank? I'm thinking total cost per point is the best way to rank them?

It’s easier to see in the photo version that I pasted upon editing. It’s sorted by total cost per point at a 5% discount rate. I used Paul’s sale prices; I think people here generally will do better, which will impact the rankings, but overall I think it’s pretty interesting!

I said this last time I redid DVCRM’s rankings here like 3 years ago, but Bay Lake Tower is really, really a steal.

Good to hear, i just got 61pts at $120. :)

I was able to convert it to excel but it wont allow me to upload it. Anyone know how I can go about it? Mine needs the formulas otherwise it's not worth much.
Edit: I asked in tech support to see if there is a way

Now I want this combined with the point chart analysis. Gonna be one big Excel sheet! You people are my people. LOL.

Also I bought one of the most expensive per point and one of the cheapest per point resorts based on years remaining. So I ultimately ended up in the middle somewhere, but I like where I will be able to stay!

I made that very spreadsheet in 2021, and then built a cross-reference with the rack room rates per night to see the savings per night for each date-resort-room type pairing.

Then I did the whole thing again to see the savings assuming I used only SSR points to stay at all of the resorts.

That workbook is basically my little DVC bible.

I’d like to do it again sometime, but the process of taking the hotel price data from Mousesavers and putting into a workable format in a spreadsheet is incredibly time consuming; I don’t know when I’ll have a night to dedicate to it.

I have always wanted to stay in the cabins when we go to Disney. Since they are now a part of DVC we can! I am happy for that and for the cheaper point rates for the cabin but there are some drawbacks.

1. Seems like you have to get a golf cart. Disney has also made it so that you have to rent a golf cart from them which is pricey per a day.
2. No washer and dryer. Why did they put in a sink at the end of the hall??? They should have put a stackable washer and dryer there.

So, I would not buy into these cabins, but I think we will enjoy staying at them for something different.

Not sure if/where @pkrieger2287 posted this or a link, but it sure fits much nicer in these forums than on their site. :)

This chart is great, but it basically makes the assumption that maintenance fees increase at the same rate for every resort - which is far from true. It is good as a snapshot in time, but doesn't give a very accurate forecast of what things might look like in the future.

The calculation of point values is one thing, but Riviera should not be considered the most economical only because the resort is so point heavy. Interesting to see how low Copper Creek points are going for. Is that because it's so hard to get a studio that people don't want it so much? BLT has been a good value for a long time between the prices and then the standard view rooms, but the problem with it to me are the way too small studios which turn me off.

Truth is the best "Economic Value" is to buy Copper Creek points and then use them to stay at Old Key West.

Charts like the ones in this thread are basically “Sleep Around Points” economics, because there’s a presumption that “a point is a point” and they all have equal value. It kind of goes without saying that the home resort advantage angle gives different value to each of these, but the charts provide the cost per point for anything booked at 7mo or less.

Alternatively there are spreadsheets in circulation that do incorporate point charts by room type into a ranking. Those give a cost ranking relevant to the 7-11mo window, and the “buy where you want to stay” angle.

Interestingly, the newest DVC resort, *flamesuit on*, doesn’t fare as badly as one might think with the second highest dues in the system. It’s $15.82 pppy at its initial 2024 maintenance fees, which is perhaps surprisingly in the mix with some of the 2042s. But, the charts in this thread are based on ~resale~ values. CFW is still a bad deal in many senses… but less bad if you don’t have a blue card yet and could get value out of those benefits for 50 years. At ~$4 pppy more than the most economical resales, in other words an amortized $600 per year on a 150pt contract, you get the DVC-Y perks, whatever they may be, for half a century.

Love how every single version of these tells me I'm an idiot for buying BCVs without telling me I'm an idiot for buying BCVs lol
Nah. These are hard cold factored financial numbers. If Beach Club is your vibe, and you enjoy the close walk to Epcot, then would it matter if BLT is the better value...but no quick walk to Epcot?

BLT is ranking favorably (we have points there but wish we had more) as my DW's favorite park is MK. She enjoys the close walk there, likes the views of the lake and castle, likes the contemporary vibe, loves Villians Lair at Top of the World, etc. But we all know there's another thread going on right down where BLT consistently ranks towards the bottom.

There's a unique intangible that's different for everyone at each resort (price, dues, design, location, amenities, deed length, etc.). We all value them differently. Glad DVC's portfolio gives us so many choices.

May the spreadsheet odds be ever in all our favors!
