We are 2 adults taking cruise this summer on the Magic. I am curious about how intense the walking is for this excursion. Husband has had one knee replaced with another one being done after we cruise. I really want to do this excursion ( I understand morning time would be best due to crowd levels/heat) but if it's too intense I don't want to book. He does bike/walk and, generally healthy but has a large frame and is 6 2" if that matters. Thanks in advance.

Other excursion ideas on this or any of the Eastern itineraries are welcomed!

Honestly, I would say don’t do it. The larger you are the harder it is. The walk down to the beach is also on an incline which may be a problem for knees. I don’t actually find the walk through all the rocks very fun and I am small and reasonably athletic. You should watch you tube videos on it. There are also a lot of other ways to see beautiful beaches around the area that are less difficult.

My husband is 6”2, son is 6”1, older son is 6 feet. Had zero issues. If he walks and bikes, he won’t have any issues. The walk is leisurely if you are in pretty good shape. Husband is 61, I am 57 - we loved the excursion and would do again. We didn’t do the excursion with lunch - that seemed like too much time off the ship.

There is a saying…when the joint pain is worse than the joint replacement procedure, it is time to get the joint replaced. So, for a healthy person, with no joint pain, while their opinion of “zero issues” may not translate to someone who is already anticipating a replacement.

We were at the Baths last week. We didn't do a DCL excursion - we got off the ship, caught the 7:45 Speedy's ferry, and did it on our own. We were there early but there were already a few tour groups that caused the line through the Baths area to be slow and at some points stand-still for several minutes. There is a steep ladder to climb down backward at one point, while watching that you don't bump your head on the overhanging rock. Overall, I don't think it was particularly taxing physically. We enjoyed swimming, especially at the first beach, Devil's Bay. That early and this time of year, the temperature seemed fine. The main thing we didn't like was the crowd, even though we had beat many of the groups.

I don't know that I would want to go in the summer, due to the heat. I think I would choose something like a sailing trip that takes you snorkeling in a couple of places, that way you're on (and in) the water where you'll have the breeze to keep it from being too hot.
