Where did he come from?! We just saw a bald eagle flying and perched on a roof while in the boat passing Boardwalk, but DH is acting like I'm crazy and that couldn't possibly be what we saw. I'm pretty sure he's just trying to irritate me lol.

Can't confirm a bald eagle specifically, but I know that an eagle or some sort perched on our friend's balcony a few weeks ago at the Swan. It made quite a mess.

I'm not trying to be a smart butt here but I'm trying to understand the story here. Aren't bald eagles one of the symbols of the US? Bald eagles are everywhere where I live - they especially love gnawing on roadkill.

Very likely an Eagle...they are there! Could have also been an Osprey....they look like eagles if you're not super close and they are everywhere down there as well!! LOVE seeing eagles!!!

Probably was an eagle .
They are not uncommon here in FL , usually near lakes or rivers of which WDW has plenty of .

Yes, you probably did see a bald eagle. There has been one in this area for at least a year now. We saw it several months ago near one of the retention ponds inside the cloverleaf near the Dolphin and World Drive.

Too cool! Something else to put on the list of things to see on our next WDW vacation.

I saw one back in March while waiting for the bus at CSR. It was soaring back and forth. A cast member was nearby and said they see it all the time. She said that there is so much natural space on Disney property that they have quite a bit of wildlife. When you look at the parks, resorts ,etc. and they are so manicured...it's easy to forget just how much land it all takes up and most of it is left natural.

I wasn't trying to sound like an idiot. =\ I literally have never seen a bald eagle outside a zoo. We have plenty of hawks around but no bald eagles!

Yes the bald eagle is the symbol of the USA. However, the species was put on the endangered list until 1995 when it was moved to threatened where it stayed until 2007. Now it's recovered and coming back and there's a nice population in Florida.

OP - your husband was more than likely wrong about what you saw.

For everyone - see Flights of Wonder at Animal Kingdom. Hope, the featured bald eagle, never fails to get gasps from the audience.

I have seen bald eagles around Epcot & DHS, especially near the waterways.

That is so awesome! I would love to see the eagle when we visit in April. I remember when we went to Kennedy Space Center in 2000 and a 50 lb eagle nest was pointed out to us that had been there for years. Hoping to see that again on our upcoming trip as well.

I had no idea Bald Eagles were endangered in the US. Thank you for clarifying. If I could figure out how to share, I'd upload the pic I have of 6 Baldies and a few Golden Eagles hanging out around a dead deer.

I didn't think you sound like an idiot. We saw the bald eagle as we were approaching the DS entrance in May. We had never seen one flying free either & were so impressed. Had hoped to see it again in Sept but didn't.

I spotted one very high up in the clouds two weeks ago over DTD. On a separate trip a couple of years ago we spotted a group of 6 bald eagles circling across the street from Wal Mart on SR 535. They are definitely in the area.
