I've seen a few people mention that they use an atomic clock for booking at 8am. Can you just use any atomic clock web site or is there a certain web site or app that you recommend?

And then just click search as soon as it hits 8am? :-)

Overkill much? The key is what time does the booking server show, not what the real time is.

I only ask because I read people who were unsuccessful in switching, had some success after using the atomic clock web site. So I figure I may as well use it... doesn't matter to me if I use my computer clock or a web site :-)

The cell phone network syncs to an atomic clock, so it is fine to use the time on your phone.

Not all cell phone networks do this. It may have to do with my specific provider (AT&T) or the strength of the signal (2 bars out of 5 in my home), but I had to turn off the automatic update on my iPhone because it did not keep accurate time.

Just go to time.gov and see how well it matches up with your computer and/or phone.

lol..... you are way over thinking it. It's all depends on 2 things.
  1. what system time the DVC product catalog is set to open room back up for inventory.
  2. what is the system time
you have zero way of knowing if the disney network is sync'd to the atomic clock. For all you know, the disney network could be 1 second fast, or 1 minute slow.

then you don't know if there is any latency in the disney system. most applications like that, have an SLA (service level agreement) for what amount of variance is tolerable for any given system event. A large database call like that may have a window of 3-15 seconds. Again, we don't know.

Finally. A customer facing application like this has many servers. These updates or or processes may not hit all the servers at one time. So if you hit the one that is slower then the other. It wont matter.

Try at 7:59.....8:00....and 8:01.....then you will cover all your bases.
