You know, those rent-a-carpet cleaner machines they have at Publix... anyone use them?

For around $30 for a day it would be well worth it if they do a decent job with stains, but if they are garbage we'll just save up for a professional cleaning.

This doesn't answer your question, but we just spent less than $200 and bought our own. It was worth it! It is a bissell and it does a great job. Over time, it will save us a good bit. DH did our entire house when we moved in and he did part of his sister's rental house (NASTY carpet and stains). Now, when we need to steam again, we'll just grab our steamer and do it, and we have it for spills, etc.

I've rented twice from Publix in the past five months. Big dog, white carpet...:sad2:

Anyhow, they do a great job. I finally decided that I'll need to do the carpets pretty much every month, so I actually bought a Rug Doctor--I was able to get one at a great discount through work. :cool1:

We just used the Rug Doctor last week and I think it worked better than when we had it professionally done. It does take some time but it is worth it.

Thanks for the feedback. Any tips or hints?

We might just buy one - we have a cat who often refuses to use her little box... grrrrr.... :sad2: :scared:
