Anyone regret an inside cabin

The cruise I'd like to take on the Wonder is mostly sold out, but a few insides are available. This would be my 12th Disney cruise, but I've never done an inside-mostly ocean views. It's only a 4 night cruise. Convince me I won't regret booking an inside. (I'm cruising solo)

We typically stay in veranda rooms (because my husband insists) but rarely use our veranda. When I am on the veranda, it’s usually because someone is asleep in the room, which isn’t an issue if you’re traveling solo.

If you’re sailing through areas with interesting views and want to look out, there are many places on Deck 4 and the pool decks from which you can see outside.

The bed location may be different in an inside room, but if you’re alone, the location and quantity of floor space is less important. Whether the room has a split bath is also less important if you aren’t sharing with anyone.

You can use the money you save in an Inside rather than Oceanview room to get an additional beverage tasting, spa treatment, or excursion.

I've never done an inside on a Disney cruise, and I admittedly haven't done an inside in over 10 years. HOWEVER, I did find I slept SOUNDLY on an inside cabin because it got SO DARK and was SO QUIET.

Also, my nephew had an inside on the Disney Dream cruise we were on, and the Virtual Porthole was so much fun (we hung out in his cabin for a while playing some games at one point), and I think it's worth the experience just for that. I know the Disney Wonder doesn't have the magic portholes, however, but I'm mentioning it in case anyone else is reading this thread and might sail on the Fantasy or Dream and is debating an inside. :-)

I'm solo and Ive done 3 Disney cruises with an inside room with a 4th booked for 2025. I have no issues with an inside room, I prefer to get the cheapest room on the ship, and then have some money for experiences on the ship. I do drinks tastings and Palo Brunch on every cruise as well as The Rainforest Room. I sleep at home with blackout blinds, so not having a window in my room on the cruise does not bother me. As you will see from my trip reports, I get up early to watch the sunrise, and spent my time out and about around the ship , not in the room.

Its funny, I always get the feeling online that an inside room is looked down upon, that people think they have to get a verandah or oceanview, because its the done thing. Its like people have to show off and say oh look at me, I got a verandah. But when I'm on the ship, theres no difference to the experiences.

I got a verandah room for my first cruise (solo) and found I'm not in the room enough to need one at all. So next cruise to Alaska was inside room and felt we didn't miss anything as could just go to the top deck and see everything (saved a few thousand as well). Did inside on my solo Fantasy cruise because I needed to have the magic video porthole with all the characters (it was amazing btw). You can also always turn on the TV and there is a channel with a view of the outside and pretend it is a window as well. I even have inside room booked for the 14 night WBPC cruise in 2026.

How much time do you spend in the cabin? That’s the crux of it for me. Did an inside room for a 10 day HAL last year. I’d never done an inside nearly that long so I was concerned. 0 regrets. The darker the better for me when sleeping so 10/10 there. Only time I spent in my cabin was to shower, sleep or wind down and watch tv so idk what I was so worried about! It actually worked out better for me than an outside cabin!

(And when I wanted to see a view- I Wanted To See A View. A porthole would not have sufficed and I would have gone up deck anyway for better views.)

This. We dont spend much time in the cabin overall. And if I have an inside room, then I just know I’m going to spend more time lounging on deck if I want fresh air or get a Rainforest pass. I spend more time utilizing “ship space” overall because I don’t feel guilty about not getting my “money’s worth” on a more expensive veranda.

I have done plenty of inside cabins on DCL. I love how dark they get- I sleep amazingly well.

I never regret an inside cabin and if it allows you to go on the sailing I would do it

We do insides more often than not on DCL. The nice thing about the Magic/Wonder insides is that they are larger than those on the new ships. Also, there are both standard (regular bath) and Deluxe (split bath) insides. We usually just get the standard as it is usually just the 2 of us now. Deck 5 aft is our preferred location. Easy to the movie theater and up to Cabanas.

You can also check to see if any of the cabins 5020, 5022, 5024, 5520, 5022, or 5024 are available. They're obstructed view oceanview cabins that are priced the same as indoor cabins. We've stayed in those the last couple of Wonder/Magic sailings and they've been great.

I don’t find these are as cheap as people say they are, in my experience they are normally only $50-100 less than an onceanview and I’d rather just pay for an unobstructed view at that point.

But back to the original question, I sail solo a fair bit and I love an inside room! I generally get the cheapest room on the ship, unless it’s a small amount to upgrade to an oceanview. I do sleep the best in an inside as it’s so dark and cozy.

Well, they're classified as category 10A, so they're the same price as the equivalent indoor cabin. For a solo traveler, the savings will be less than our family of 4, but then again, you can say that about any indoor cabin.

When we had the Tag Fairy here, my very first tag was “I prefer the single bath”. And it’s true, I don’t like the split baths, I’m always running back and forth with a towel on trying to find something in the other bath, and it made me crazy. So I do like the single rooms on Wonder, and we’ve done portholes and verandahs as well. Paid for the verandah and lasted about five mins out there at night before I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore. I did enjoy laying in bed watching the ocean at night as a light sleeper. So although it’s nice to have a view, as others have stated, there are plenty of reasons to go with a single, and they’re all good, too. Btw, there were four of us and we never felt claustrophobic, either (granted at that time, our kids were young). The other thing we’ve done is to get one verandah room and one inside room across the hall, and share spaces, and that worked fine, too.

Nope, never, won't happen, rather not cruise --- as per BOSS Lady -> DW. She did an inside ONCE and commented that she missed the sights and sounds of living the verandah life.

This is extremely elitist. For some of us the only way we can do a Disney cruise is to get the cheapest inside room.

Some people, us included, prefer sailing in a verandah cabin. It isn’t elitist to want to spend your hard earned money on what YOU prefer. If you can only sail in an inside, you do you. If others prefer to only sail in a verandah, let them be them without judgement.
