Any suggestions for a gift for a personal bridal shower?

I'm invited to a personal bridal shower for my niece in a couple of weeks, and really have no idea what would be a good (and fun) gift for her. Any suggestions?

What do you mean by 'personal' bridal shower? I've never heard that term before. Is that like a lingerie theme?

If you want to go traditional, I'd buy something off the registry. If you want to be racy, go with lingerie. An original idea is to buy something for their honeymoon. My coworkers knew where we were going and somehow got us a gift certificate to a nice italian restaurant near our hotel. I thought that was very thoughtful.

For a personal shower in which you dont want to go the naughty route, I would suggest giving something like Bath and Body stuff. That usually goes over pretty well.

Personal meaning for the Bride personally, not for the house, right?

Do you know where she is going to get her hair or nails done for the wedding? Maybe a gift cert. for there?

I received tons of lingerie for my personal shower. Even though it was all fun; there were gifts that I really appreciated in the long run. Nice lotion/spray etc from B&B. Also, nice, soft, sexy pj's that can be slept in... comfortably! ;)

Since it's your niece, naughty stuff is probably not the most comfortable thing to buy! I agree with Jennobrn01, comfy pjs that look nice (they can be silky!) but are also comfortable--no strings or floss, if you know what I mean. :thumbsup2

Perfume, comfy pj's, candles and fancy picture frames always get rave reviews at personal bridal showers.

Am I the only person who hates personal showers? I would have rather died than had one. I hate scented products and prefer to buy my own lingerie. Because of that, I've always just bought people towels off their registry. My MIL bought me a teddy and gave it to me the night before the wedding - ewww!

My girlfriend's favorite gift, for her personal shower, was a gift certificate for a massage! She used it a couple of days before the wedding, said it really helped her stress level! :goodvibes

I'm not really sure what a personal bridal shower is either, but if the purpose is to buy something only for the bride, then the gift I liked the most was a gift certificate from a dry cleaner to have the wedding dress preserved. It was very thoughtful!

A friend of mine had suggested a gift certificate from Victoria's Secret, but I thought I'd rather give an actual gift, I don't think my niece is a VS kind of gal, but then, what do I know, I still picture her as a toddler with her diaper hanging out of her bathing suit...yes I have that picture, and no I didn't show it to her fiance...although I was tempted.
I love the idea of the soft comfy (but cute) PJ's, and actually a gift certificate for a massage or hair and nails is good too, and the wedding dress preserver is a great idea.
Thank you all very much!

How about a gift certificate to Victoria's Secret or a department store? THis way once she's used all the stuff she got at the shower, she can still go get something new and something she knows she wants.

i like to give a small (small enuf to fit into a hotel in-room safe) jewlery holder. i get the long narrow type that will hold a few pairs of earrings, a couple of necklaces, a bracelet, and of course at bare minimum the wedding rings. this can be used in a purse to carry jewlery on trips, and moreso for me-it's one place all my jewlery can be that will fit into the room safe (i don't wear my wedding rings when i swim). if possible, i would try to get a photo of the groom as a child and one of the bride-and put it into a locket inside the box.

I've given a small basket filled with candles (pumpkin spice is supposed to arouse men), bath stuff, etc. I wrap it up in a cute satin nightie and tie with a big bow - makes a really cute gift!

FYI - Personal showers are usually given to the bride by her friends to stock her drawers with lots of pretty nightwear - although we all know a good mix of satin and flannel is what we really want! (At least in the colder climates) :smooth:
