Any Ideas for Displaying Pins?

Hi. I am curious if anyone has any interesting ideas of how to display the Disney pins in your home, other than having a bunch of lanyards laying around. I don't want to use the book display - I want them to all be visible. I can put them in my glass curio cabinet but need ideas for how to display in there.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Jeanette
Seems alot of us have been framing lately! See posts under Collectors Board for some great pics and ideas. Personally I have framed in printer box type frames(so the pins could be covered in glass) and in frames without glass. I try to pick frames themed to the pins.....like I would use a baby frame for baby minnie and mickey or a wedding frame for wedding series pins. I even found some locker mirrors and a bulletin board for back to school....they were outlined in animal print faux fur. I just stuck AK pins in the fur around the mirror. On the bulletin board (about 12x18 inches) I stuck pins IN the board itself and was able to drape my AK lanyard across it with pins attached.
I seem to remember someone having a glass topped coffee table they could open and display pins under, think they would rotate, putting holiday appropriate pins in there.
I have also gotten lithos to use in framing with the appropriate pins...have not tackled that yet tho! :p
Hope my ideas have helped!

Hi, Jeanette

I've moved this over to the main Collectors Board where there's more traffic, and hopefully you'll get a lot of ideas.

Like Lynnie said, a lot of people frame their pins and do it themselves. DW and I have done a few frames and it's not a hard process at all.

Lynnie, that was AZ JazzyJ who built the display table. He set it up so that he could change the pins displayed whenever he wanted by changing the drawers. Here's a link to the thread where he posted some pictures.

Thanks to all who have posted ideas for displaying pins. Keep those ideas - with photos - coming.

I have ideas in my head but, unfortunately, I do not have a creative bone in my body. I do have an A.C. Moore Store close by so I will venture over soon to look for frames and other ideas.

One thing I would definitely suggest is to get frames deep enough so the pin backs don't stick too far out the back and push the frame away from the wall. Some people use shadowboxes, but they can be a bit more expensive than plain frames.

I have put some of my pins on Disney Gift boxes. I took different sized boxes and placed the pins on the sides and arranged them in on the cabinet shelf. I also stuffed some small shoping bags to make them look full and made sort of a Disney shopping vinette.

I have a few pins. I have a vest and backpack. The backpack you can't really see the pins in. I hang my vest on a hook in my room so I can see it. The vest can be bought at animal kingdom ( only place if your a kids size) or at a pin cart. I've seen the pin cart inside the mk when you walk in containing them. It is the first one.
I at one time used cork tiles. I didn't really like it though, because you can't bring them to Disney unless you want to put them on and off.
Hope it helped.

Before I moved recently, I had an ideal way of displaying my pins. Since my Disney collection is rather large, I bought a bunch of cheap white bookcases at Ikea ($35 each) and put my Disney collection on it. Then I simply pushed the pins into the front edges of all the shelving and all around the book cases. It looked great.
Unfortunately, when it came time to move, the bookcases couldn't come. So, I had to pull the pins out ... a few of the actual pins came off the backs of the pins. Only two or three, but enough to make me cringe.
Now I have a better idea. I cannot frame my pins and hang them on the wall: too many lithos and signs from Disney! So, I have bought some very large pieces of foamcore board. You can get it at any art supply store. Each one will cover half of a door. So, I am going to stick two of them to a door so the entire door will be covered, and then push all the pins into the foam core board. It's an inexpensive yet elegant solution to a "sticky" problem.

I love all these ideas and ESPECIALLY seeing the pics......what a creative crew we have here!
I like the idea of the foam board on the door too!
I remember someone saying they used 3 embroiderly hoops to make a Mickey head and put the pins on that for display. They put fabric in the hoops to hold the pins!

Jim... I love the Snow White set! What a great idea.
