Any chance of "sellout" on Dec 30?

Wife and I are travelling to LA for the Rose Bowl. Currently the Ohio State band is scheduled to be at Disneyland Dec 30 in the evening, and we'd like to see them.
I thought about buying tickets now, but would rather wait in case the band's schedule changes.

If I wait until Dec 30, should I be worried that the park might "sell out" in advance and I'd be shut out? Is this a thing at Disneyland?
Same question with Lightning Lane upgrade. Could that sell out in advance, or is it safe to buy while at the park if the lines are longer than we like.

Bradley, in case you aren't familiar with Disneyland's reservation policies, you have to select a starting park, but if you have a Park Hopper ticket, you can go to the other park after 11:00 a.m. So if the band isn't scheduled to play until after that (probably afternoon or evening?), then you'll be fine even if you can't get a reservation for the park they're playing at (probably Disneyland?). Just grab whatever reservation you can and then go to where they'll be later in the day.

The question you need to ask is if you are willing to gamble with Disneyland being sold out or buy the tickets now and risk the unlikely chance the band will not perform.

Yes, that's the big question. Or the possibility that our travel plans get delayed, as we are flying to Vegas the night before and driving to LA early the next morning. If we have travel snafus and get delayed, having nonrefundable tickets would be a bummer.

Sites such as Undercover Tourist sell Disneyland tickets with a refund policy. However, DLR handles one-day tickets differently and I don't see those available on the UC website. I bought four-day tickets from UC this year and used them at DLR, but I don't have experience with trying to use their one-year refund policy.

Anyone here have an opinion about Bradley buying a two-day ticket and then getting a refund from UC if the band doesn't go to DLR? One issue would be that if he does go for just one day, he'd have paid for another day. That value wouldn't be refundable but can be used at DLR indefinitely, right?

Driving from Las Vegas to Disneyland and then Pasadena for the actual Rose Bowl Parade and Game ?
Your first sentence mentions Going to the Rose Bowl .
And then everything else .
Whatever you do. Make sure you have water in the car and do not think you can “gas up the car at leisure…There will be really long lines to use restrooms and gas !
And traffic will be worse than anything you have
experienced!
Just a very caring warning to make better plans. And be prepared.

They do retain their value, even if they are technically expired and no longer valid for admission as is. You can apply the value of what you paid to tickets in the future.

I know it is none of my business but I am curious. What are your reasons for the stop over in Las Vegas? Why not just flying into Santa Ana and stay in Anaheim for the night?

Fair question. Huge savings for us on the airfare and better flight times for us.

We thought about doing that once for a DL trip. But with the cost of a decent LV hotel and parking/fees, then the time and stress of driving to CA, we decided the savings, even though monetarily it was a lot, wasn't worth it overall. We flew into SNA and used a rideshare. More expensive, but so worth it for us. YMMV!

@Bradley Bruns where are you planning on staying when in California? Are you planning on driving from LV, seeing band at Disneyland and then driving to a hotel in the Pasadena area? Or are you planning on spending a night close to Disneyland before driving up to Pasadena on Dec 31?

I have seen the Wisconsin Badger's Band a couple of times at Disneyland before the Rose Bowl. It is *really* a lot of fun seeing your college band play at DL. When I went the Alumni Association had all kinds of rallies and plans and the band at DL was one of them. I would say that whatever schedule they have planned now is what they are going to do. That date and time is currently set in stone.

Were you planning on staying in Anaheim on 12/30 and 12/31? We have done that for both Rose Bowls I went to and I have to let you know that it was a ginormous PITB to drive to Pasadena the next day. Especially if you're planning to watch the parade (and your band again). The parade messes up the entire town and streets are closed traffic is a snarl and it's very difficult to get from point A to point B. The first year we couldn't even get to the parking place we purchased in advance because the road closed at 7:30 am and had to pony up a fortune for another parking place we could get to. The second time we went to the Rose Bowl we parked better but once we made it to the Rose Bowl itself the line to get through security was horrible and we nearly missed kick off.

If it were me, I would make my travel as easy as possible as everything else will be a hot mess. If you don't already have your airfare, I would re-think LAS and use one of the LA airports instead. If LAS is already purchased, I would see if I could stay half way between LAS and Anaheim (looks like Barstow, CA) so you can get a couple hours closer to DL.

Watching your B1G team play in the Rose Bowl is very special. The parade is beautiful. Seeing your band play at DL is a blast. It will be a massive wall of humanity and terrible traffic. Just know that and plan accordingly ... and have fun!

Not sure of your plans on Dec 31 or after Jan 1, but you can view the parade floats both before and after the parade. Viewing the floats after the parade is much more popular.
