Why can't they make amoxi-drops for animals in beef or chicken flavor?
Kittens don't like bubble gum flavor ! For that matter babies probably don't either they've never been exposed to it.
Something that taste good to kittens would make it so much easier on both the human administering it and the kitties. I feel so bad for these poor little babies they're already feeling bad then we have to force their heads back to force their tiny mouths open and fill it with yucky sweet tasting stuff !!

Ha! Ha! The pink stuff! I have many memories of giving my Maine Coon, Maggie, the pink stuff. And having it on my socks, my shirt, my pants, the floor, everywhere but Maggie's mouth.

I did eventually mix it in with food, I think.

Actually - it doesn't really help. My cat had to go on something that had fish flavoring added to it. Spit it out everywhere too!

They do! There is a compounding pharmacy in NH that made special cat friendly flavors. I bet there are more out there. I got it for my kitty after several bouts of pink cat spit in my hair. Then instead I ended up with beef flavored cat spit in my hair. He did do better with the beef than bubble gum, but not by much.

We did a very rank-smelling fish flavor for Amoxi once -- and like others say, it's spit and drooled just as well as the bubble gum flavor. IIRC, they charged us a boatload for the flavoring, too!

My Mackey has an issue with an ongoing infection in his mouth. Because of this, he has to take antibiotics several times a year.

Since he is already on daily insulin and daily Prozac, I hate having to stress him out even further. My vet gives him an antibiotic shot - Convenia - which is a time-release 14 day dose.

You might want to look into it and see if it would work for your kitty's situation.

Hope that helps :),

The tangerine stuff is the worst! Our cats going on week 5 of this crud and well, her chins stained orange, our wallpaper is spotted orange, the sheets, my favorite tee and of course the other cat (who tried to help). Orange is a ugly color

We finally gave up and gave him the pills. The vet insisted that the same antibiotic was available in pill form "but the drops are so much easier". Well, after cleaning up the pink spray all over the walls and floor after out Maine Coon violently shook his head and spit it out, we just found it easier to hold his head for a second and poke down the pill.

I'm sure it depends on the cat but we've been using pill pockets for our rescue kittens with great success. You enclose the capule within the treat.

Are you wiping off the outside of the dropper before giving the amoxicillan? So they dont get a taste of it before you put it in? I know that won't work for all, but it sure has made it easier for us. It's in and swallowed before they realize they hate it.
The pill pockets are also good..I've given some pretty vile pills using them, although I prefer a piller, but not everyone has luck with a piller.
We have a pharmacy here in our area that will give you stuff with flavors you would think a cat would prefer, but I haven't found a cat any happier with the fish flavored meds.
