That's tricky
I've reviewed the Terms & Conditions and can not find anything that indicates it must be in store or Online.
I am thinking back to when I have done a card link online and that would be Kernels,, ordered via online ,,,but I did pick it up in store.
Here are the T& C again

To participate, you must first opt into the offer by clicking the “Opt in” button during the Offer Period. After opting in, you can earn 100 Bonus Miles when you spend $50 or more in a single transaction and pay with an eligible Canadian-issued Mastercard®* credit card or an eligible Bank of Montreal (BMO) issued debit card associated with a BMO personal banking account that is linked to your AIR MILES collector account (a “Linked Card”). Limit of one (1) offer per collector number. This offer can be combined with other offers. Minimum qualifying purchase must be made in a single transaction on a Linked Card.
