Adding days to Military Salute Tickets

I am reading that we can add days to the military salute tickets by going to guest relations and paying the difference. Has anyone done this? When they say pay the difference do they mean the difference between a 5 day to a 6 day ticket ($12), or pay the full price difference between the military salute price $315 to the 6 day price MYW price $532?

I used my Military Salute tickets to buy an AP back in 2019 and they take the cost of the unused portion paid towards the FULL cost. If you haven't used all your pass availability (6 per family) it's probably less expensive to purchase another Military Salute for additional days.

We had 1 day left on the 2020 Salute in December and added 2 days to bring it up to a 6 day Salute ticket (which expires Sept. 26). It was a super easy process at Disney Springs. I just went by myself with the family members Magic Bands and paid the difference (which I think was about $35 per person at the time). But that was before the 2021 Salute went on sale, which doesn't have a 6 day option, so I am not sure how it works now. I know you can add the Water Parks/mini golf add-on too, but for any of those upgrades (keeping it a Salute ticket), you have to have at least 1 day left on the ticket when you make the change.

You can only add days up to the number of days the salute ticket was originally available to be purchased for.

So for a ticket that expires September 26, you could add 2 days to a 4-day, or 1 day to a 5-day, but nothing to a 6-day.

For the salute tickets that expire 12/17, you can only add one day to a 4-day. You cannot add days to a 5-day salute ticket. The maximum length that ticket was sold for was 5 days.

Can anyone give me a ballpark $ to go from a military 5 day hopper to a 6 day hopper? I would like to add a day for the grandkids’ tickets. The trip is for 10/30-11/6.

You can't.

The salute tickets that would be good after 9/26 were not available as 6 day tickets, so you cannot add a day to a 5-day ticket.

In that case, you should be able to upgrade to a regular 6-day ticket. Look up current pricing and subtract what you paid for the salute tickets. It's going to be expensive.

The difference between a 5-day military salute and a 6-day park hopper is likely $200-300. The military salute is a really good deal.

If those numbers are correct (just stating the obvious) it would make much more sense to simply buy an additional (standard) one-day ticket.
Also, if there will be at least one day on the trip where park hopping can be avoided, buying a "6th day" as a one-day ticket, make it a NON-hopper and use that stand-alone ticket on a day when you would not be park hopping. (And, that day COULD be sometime in "the middle" of the use of the military ticket days.)

Always nice to have one 'resort day' in the middle of your trip. Go to Disney Springs, buy a one day waterpark ticket, visit nearby resorts, or just relax at your hotel and swim.

FWIW, according to the woman I spoke to at the SoG ticket office, salute tickets that expire 9/26 cannot be upgraded past the passes currently available (so no 6 day at all). She also said if you have a 6 day pass that was purchased before the February deadline, it's not possible to add hopper to a non-hopper, or add hopper plus to hopper, and still retain the 6 days. Instead you'd be "refunded" the value of the 6 day pass and can then use that to purchase current passes with those options added, paying only the difference (but being limited to the 5 day max of the current promotion).
