50th Birthday Cruise RCL vs Disney Input

My family has been on 10 Disney cruises and absolutely love them. We enjoy the rotational dining with the same waiters and assigned showtimes without needing reservations. We love the theater productions and the adult game shows. We are not too much into sport activities and prefer the pool over the beach. We are now empty-nesters and are thinking of trying something other than a Disney cruise, maybe? For my 50th birthday I have narrowed it down to :
1. Oasis of the Seas - Curacao, Aruba and Coco Cay
2. Disney Treasure - Grand Cayman, Jamaica, Castaway Cay

We did sail on Disney Wish and did not like it at all - but it was only a few weeks after the maiden voyage, and a lot of why we didn’t like it was that it was very disorganized- not up to typical Disney standards. We did not love the layout, but maybe that was because we were already irritated with some of the other issues, so we would kind of like to give Treasure a try (I especially love the theater show choices). But we have also heard great things about the oasis class ships with Royal Caribbean. I don’t feel like we could go wrong either way, but I would love to hear some input.

With your background in Disney cruises, I'd come down on the side of Treasure. We just did that cruise on January 11th and loved it. Yes, the Treasure does have the same structural "flaws" that the Wish has. But the ship is beautiful and being on board for a week allows you to adjust.

We also sail RCL (Diamond+) and have been on the Oasis (and her sister ships) several times. I wouldn't hesitate to book that, but again given your Disney likes I think you should stick with the Treasure.

I sailed the Wish twice and it didn't get better the second time. If you don't like the Wish you probably won't like the treasure. I like Royal, but I also like Disney's other ships. Is that your only option?

I'm in a similar position but with a different conclusion. We sailed the Wish twice and just got back from the Treasure's January 11th sailing. We definitely like the Treasure better. To each their own

I too did not care for the Wish. I liked the Treasure a LOT more than I expected, however that adult pool area is just so important to me and why I cruise, that I would have a hard time booking the Treasure. I still don't love the crew serve buffet but I could get past that because the rest of the ship/experience was so good, it's just that adult pool area that holds me back. :(

I’ve heard from others that they liked Treasure better than Wish. I do not think we were able to truly assess the Wish because it was such a mess when we went (I think it was only like the 8th sailing). There were 2 events that no cast member showed up to run, 1 that showed up 35 minutes late and was disorganized, 1 that showed up but did something completely different than what was scheduled, and it just continued like this. It just did not go smoothly. I feel like the kinks will have been worked out on the Treasure and people have seemed to have had a better reaction to it, so I wouldn’t mind giving it a try.

We’ve been on all the other Disney ships two times or more, so I was looking for something new. I especially am looking for new shows and performances. We were also considering Icon of the Seas possibly.

Have you considered Celebrity? I have not sailed on RCCL but my husband and I did a Celebrity cruise last year and chose them due to hearing that the food and service are much better than RCCL. For the most part I found it to be very comparable to DCL. Food was as good or better, service was very similar (they also still offer twice a day cabin servicing), shows were not as good but I don't think anyone can compete with Disney production shows. For a small fee you can order hot breakfast items from room service (there is no extra charge for continental just like DCL). The ship was maintained at a high level as well.

So, I did actually see a cruise to Aruba with Celebrity on the same dates. I just never really hear too much about their entertainment so I didn’t put a lot of thought into it. I know it may seem silly to some, but the evening shows and entertainment are one of the highlights of cruising for me. I will research celebrity a bit more.

If the reason you didn’t like the Wish is that it felt disorganised, I would try the Treasure. I waited until last September/October to try the Wish and everything ran really smoothly (barring the late embarkation due to a hurricane, that was a mess.)

I've definitely heard multiple people who were not fans of the Wish but who love the Treasure.

Which Celebrity ship? I did an ABC cruise on the Celebrity Beyond last year and it was one of my favorite cruises. Including the entertainment on board.

Celebrity Silhouette
That is actually the sister ship to the Eclipse that we sailed on! Age wise comparable to the Dream/Fantasy but size and amenity wise think Magic/Wonder. The Eclipse had not been 'Revolutionized' where the Silhouette has so her staterooms and public areas have been refreshed in a fairly recent dry dock I believe.
