2025 Moonlight magic

A year or two ago, I happened to have DVC stays that corresponded to two events.

After I made it through the wait queue, I was presented an option to select one of the two events. I could not select both.

This really sucks. We're within driving distance, but school nights don't work out so I was hoping to attend a couple of these over the summer. I think last year you couldn't do the same park twice in one year, but now looks like they go by no two visits in the same "season" regardless of park.

This is a way fairer process given the limited capacity. I'd much rather you get to do this event once and another member gets to do another event once, then you get to do both events and the other member doesn't get to do any. They should really limit this to one member per year to give everyone a fair chance.

I actually thought that limiting each park to once per year was pretty fair. It's not immediately obvious to me why "once per season" is way more fair than "once per park". 🤷‍♂️

So I can now go to EPCOT in April and July and shut someone else completely out of that park? But I cannot got to EPCOT in July and Typhoon Lagoon in June because they are in the same "season"?

I'm pretty sure that which is "way more fair" can be argued either way, depending on individual schedules, having kids in school, park preferences etc.... I don't think that someone who loves EPCOT the most will think the new arrangement is fairer.

As I recall, we've never been able to do the same park twice in one year.

Previously you were limited to once per park which seemed fair to me as the dates were spread throughout the year.
I think this new approach hurts the people that can only go during certain time periods such as summer and spring break.
If you are a local and love certain parks as you can now actually do them twice as they are in more than one season (AK, Epcot, Typhoon Lagoon)

2024 Dates:
Epcot was 1/25/24, 3/1/24
DCA was 1/29/24
Animal Kingdom was 2/27/24, 4/23/24, 10/24/24, 11/21/24, 12/10/24
Typhoon Lagoon was 6/4/24, 7/11/24
Hollywood Studios was 8/27/24

Hypothetically I have kids in school with a spring break in April so I could pick the Animal Kingdom on 4/23, the Typhoon Lagoon on 7/11 and the Hollywood Studios on 8/27 to attend.

This is no longer the case as the limit is one per season (Winter: Jan-Feb Spring: Apr-Jun Summer: Jul-Sep)
2025 Dates
Epcot: 4/30/25 (Spring), 7/17/25 (Summer)
DCA: 2/3/25 (Winter)
Animal Kingdom: 2/12/24 (Winter)
Typhoon Lagoon: 5/20/25 (Spring), 6/9/25 (Spring), 8/11/25 (Summer)
Hollywood Studios: 1/26/25 (Winter), 9/1/25 (Summer)

The same hypothetical situation for 2025 we won't be able to attend Typhoon Lagoon as the kids would want to keep Hollywood Studios
Spring Event: Epcot on 4/30/25 which cancels the ability to get into Typhoon Lagoon on 6/9/25
Summer Event: Hollywood Studios on 9/1/25 which cancels out Typhoon Lagoon on 8/11/25 (Epcot is also cancelled out but since we have gone to that during Spring Break and before it was once per park it doesn't hurt as much for the kids)

I would say that "way more fair" is just to not have MM at all since most members will never be able to attend one anyway. What would be more "fair" is to perhaps give everyone something like a a yearly snack voucher...

I misunderstood your post and thought you were complaining about not being able to essentially go to as many MM's as you could register for.

The common case is likely not folks who are local. I suspect the common case is people who happen to be there on one of their handful of trips in a year. It makes sense for them to be limited to one during "a trip", and probably results in a broader pool of attendees than one-per-park.

Given the immense popularity of these events, I would not be sad if it were one per year, period.

They typically host events at 5 parks per year: Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Typhoon Lagoon and Disney California Adventure. Last year it was maximum 5 events per member.

This year 3 seasons worth of events have been announced, making for a maximum of 3 per member.
