We will be flying in the night before the cruise and will have six adults, two tweens (so no car seats), and luggage for the cruise. We are looking at renting a 15 Passenger van from Alamo as it is much cheaper and DH and I are the only ones that will drive while down there (the other adults would not be comfortable driving around Orlando or to the port). We looked at getting two vehicles, but due to cost (and keeping everyone together), we opted to rent the passenger van. Both of us have experience driving larger vehicles.

So our questions are,
has anyone rented one of these vans from Alamo?
It says a Ford Transit is possible, is that what others have seen?
Alamo is the only car rental with a 15 passenger as the others say 12 passenger. Does that mean Alamo has a larger vehicle or just that the others have the back row removed for luggage?
Will Alamo removed the back row for room for luggage or should we just lift the suitcases over the back row?
Any other tips or advice?

The old style vans are on their way out of most fleets, but many still have them. What you want is a 12 passenger extended vehicle, that will have that space where the 4th row would normally be. That style will make loading so much easier. No rental car place will take the last row out for you.

The new Transit vans I've seen don't have rows like the old vans, they have individual seas. They did this to avoid the empty row on one side of the van like the old ones (which had roll over issues). I think there is a bit of space behind the last row but not a lot.

A 12 seat van is the way to go.

Afterall there are only 8 of you ...... so luggage could be placed on the extra seats

Thanks. If Alamo had a 12 passenger van, we would rent it. But all they have is a "full size" van which is listed as a 15 passenger. Other rental companies have the 12 passenger, but we prefer Alamo as we can skip the desk and go right to the garage without waiting in a long line at the desk.
