Something About Nothing............ #14

Carole I do remember that. IMO heavy chairs and being in a dress & trying to be modest can lead to some awkward body positioning.

robbie good to hear the foot is coming along nicely, needs to be in tip top shape for HHN! Oh, I just love pineapple upside down cake. Sadly, few in my family do. Haven’t made one in a few years. Tempted to try to just put some in freezer bags and see if they will hold. I have done same with cheesecake without issue. Just not sure how the pineapple will translate.

jr is playing behind a very slow foresome, gave me head up he’ll be late to dinner. The one nice think about grilling pork & chicken, the longer in the marinade the better :). However, if the forecast storm comes thru it will be in the grill pan on the stove lol

It was the weirdest thing to do and in a confined space you can`t yell out in agony lol.....

Yep, marinading does make a huge difference in flavour, hope that storm doesn`t hit you and you get to cook outside!

Good evening. Fairly uneventful day. We started watching the race (which was delayed), but our driver crashed.

Dh wanted to get something similar he saw at Lowes. I was trying to find the picture, but can’t find it on their website.

Hope you get everything all worked out before your HHN trip.

I am constantly mistyping or getting autocorrected and don’t realize it until after I hit send. One of these days I will remember to proofread.

We had thunderstorms again this afternoon. Tonight B and I went to kroger to pick up
A few things. We came out to this

The picture does not do it justice.

Lovely picture of the rainbow Charade, always pretty to see.

I like that picture!

Beautiful isn`t it.

Well we did go early to bed last night, so up even earlier this morning, once I was awake that was me, I just got up as sleeping beauty was still sound. Now watching a very odd sunrise, bright over the sea but the sun is climbing into some very odd colured sky. Not sure what the weather is for today. But, I did have such a good sleep.

Will be going out for some shopping, dropping a gift off as it`s one of my Goddaughters birthdays, will drop it into her mum as she`s not here right now, off celebrating her 21st with some of her friends.

Toast with bacon for lunch and spicy chicken thigh with some salad for lunch, no idea for dinner yet, will have a think later. I doubt I`ll bake today but there is a church event later in the week I will bake for.

We really do need to get back out walking every day, especially when the weather is so delightful.

But, I still have a few birthdays to shop for this month including Tom who doesn`t want or need anything.....that never stopped me before!! One of my brothers has a special birthday too, so need to get him sorted too, other than that just regular birthdays and two anniversaries.

Monday again, start of a fresh week.......and time for that first pot of tea for the day!

Have a lovely Monday 🥰

Ah Monday it is. Back to that week day routine in the early hour. Still mostly dark out. But soon, trash trucks will be heard. Maybe in a bit of rain. Rained heard in the overnight. Ah, still warm though. 68 now, and humid, with 86 degrees the high. Perfect summer weather. Not too hot.

Good morning all, and have a Marvelous Monday.

Ugh, it's Monday. My day began at 5:30 with Caspian demanding food. I didn't want to wake dh up, so I tried to go back to sleep in my recliner. I kept hearing a weird tapping noise that sounded like it was coming from the ceiling fan. I thought it might be a bug flying around one of the light fixtures, but didn't see anything. When dh woke up he climbed up on a ladder and looked around the fan, but didn't see anything either. Of course the noise stopped then. Caspian later found a small bug, so I wonder if maybe that was causing the noise. By then it was too late to go back to sleep, so now I am up and getting ready for work much earlier than usual.

We had an early morning visitor from our state bird.

Apologies for the low quality. I took the picture through a window. I tried to go out onto the deck to get a better picture, but the bird flew away.

Love those Northern Cardinals, Charade. Great picture of him. Sorry you got work up way too early. And glad no water dripping or other from your ceiling fan.

Quiet enough day. Laptop said it needs to update. Have at it. Still overcast and very muggy out. Two of our four trash cans emptied so far.

The alligator in the Kiski River that’s been the target of a manic reptile-hunt over the past week has been caught.

Kiski Township Police Chief Lee Bartolicius confirmed Sunday evening that two kayakers spotted and caught the gator. Two Kiski Area police officers assisted them.

“The alligator, ‘Chomper’ as we have named him, is in custody!” Bartolicius said in a text late Sunday night. “He is now in the hands of the (humane) officers where they will re-home him.”

The alligator, around 4 feet long and believed to have been dumped in the river by someone, was initially reported to the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission by a group of kayakers on July 30.”

I’m sure those in the south will laugh this off, was a big, hairy deal here as those mini Dinos surely aren’t native to our area.

one of my kids has been sickly last few days, turns out his stepmother (whom he saw on his BD), finally caught herself a case of covid.

Guess I’m off to try to track down tests…you used to see them everywhere. Think I’ll call the pharmacy when they open, then try to get him in for definitive testing @ the doctor’s office...nee parking lot as they come out in full hazmat suits.

Football camp starts this evening. Last thing they need is him to be Typhoid Mary for the team.

charade- that is a beautiful pic. since we live on a ridge, blessed with rainbows.

Had ourselves a nest of cardinals set up camp near one of my decks years ago. Since then some of their spawn also decided to stick around, we now have a bit of a colony. For some reason none of them “like” me. They are pleasantly perched in the Japanese maple near my one deck, until I come out. Then, the clatter begins with them taking turns squawking at me.:confused3 My family thinks it’s a hoot, me, not so much

A good week to all! Hoping our power stays on with the series of powerful storms said to be hitting us in waves most of the Day.

Hope storms don’t bother you, Keisha. Stay safe. Ack, to Covid around again. Hope you find those otc tests. Ah those birds. Some around me start an hour before dawn. At least better than hearing the traffic I do in the early mornings.

Wet looking out. Drizzling soon, my phone says. To be done with rain by lunchtime, then a partly sunny afternoon, before the storms come in the evening, going from West to East, and 6 pm to 10 pm the storm warnings given. I’m guessing ours will be around 8 or so this evening.

Hungry, lunch still over an hour away. Boo.

And yay for Fox to set up Who’s Here for HHN.

Holy carp on a cracker Janet!!!! Are there any wild beesties you don`t have where you live!!! Glad that one is out of the way for sure!! Chomper lol.....they at least have a sense of humour! They really are nothing but dinosaurs.

Oh not again.....covid!!! Hazmat suits???? That is crazy. Fingers crossed he is negative and has nothing to share with the team.......I am laughing however at Typhoid Mary.....lol.....

Good luck with the power, hope it stays on!

@macraven hope you got to sleep and it was a good one.....I noticed you here this morning....wide awake 👀 😁

Not been a bad day at all here. Got the shopping we needed and dropped off the card and gift, turns out I don`t listen either.....my goddaughter is in Dubai apparently, not where I thought she was with her friends.

Got some washing done and out on the line as it is beautiful, but quite chilly out of the sun, so I`m enjoying sitting in the sun but inside with the doors pulled back wide. Tom is out helping with the food bank, they were short staffed today, he shouldn`t be too long now.

I cooked two butts of pork overnight last night, shredded and portioned them today for the freezer with the bbq sauce, but kept some back for dinner tonight with sweet potato edges, coleslaw and salad. I made the bbq sauce spicy and cooked the pork in full fat coke with onions, celery and spices......can`t wait to eat it later!

But, for now enjoying the sunshine knowing my washing will be dry soon, yes, simple things!!! Tom will be back in 10 minutes apparently, will get the kettle on for us.

Hope your Monday is a good one.......

Well, everyone, I have decided to try and keep up with you all and to post a few things on here. I am afraid I will bore you all, but you can get a good rest after the post:)

Keishashadow: The picture of that alligator is scary, and even scarier is that it was caught in Pa???? That's crazy that someone dumped it in your river! I hope that your sick one doesn't have covid and gets better soon!

Charade, your state bird is beautiful. Ours is a mosquito, LOL. Ours are as big as birds in our state of Mn.

Robo, happy late Birthday to your husband:)

Carole: You are having my kind of a day - hanging out laundry.:laundy: I have sheets on the line:)

I've been trying to read the last few days of posts, but whew, it's a lot!
Carole: That story about you sitting up at 2:30am and talking was pretty scary, but funny too. I bet Tom was kind of freaked out too:) I bet there is something going on in that room - dogs are pretty perceptive. That cheesecake looks fabulous. It is one of my favorite desserts:)

We have finally gotten out of the hot, hot weather and it's now in the 70's, Yea! We have been doing updating around the house with some new appliances, painting, cleaning out the clutter, etc. It seems the clutter never ends....

My granddaughter moves out of the house and to a town about 100 miles away, this week to start college! It seems too early for her to go. Her Mom is going to have a hard time with it as she is her last one to leave and go to college.

Roger has made her a nice coffee table for her brand new apartment, and I am making a huge pillowcase for a huge pillow for her living room, so we've been keeping busy. Been busy with the yard and flowers. There's so much to do around here with trimming, weeding (which I hate to do:), and watering, but it will soon be fall and I won't have that to gripe about, LOL. Then I'll miss it.

Well, time to get back to the sewing room and get going! Happy Monday to all.

7 states have the cardinal as their state bird. When I was in 6th grade one of my classmates was moving to MN. He actually had a tshirt that said Minnesota State Bird and was a picture of a mosquito. I can’t believe I still remember that from all those years ago.

We are expecting more severe storms this afternoon. We are under a tornado watch until 9:00.

I hate those severe storm alerts. Hope you are all safe!

Bored at work and having a difficult time staying awake.
We are supposed to get more thunderstorms again this afternoon. Yay. 😐

On the plus side, I’m just 40 days from vacation.

Hope you find something to do to pass the time.

Good to see you Ruth!! And yes, getting that laundry out and dry is one of life`s simple pleasures!!

Oh it`s this week your GD leaves for college, I thought it was later, but yes, her mum will be upset. Sounds like she`ll have some lovely items to go with her from both of you. You have been busy in your garden!!

lol.....he just about passed out he said, but he said I wasn`t yelling, I was very calm.....no idea, but it is odd with the dogs, they don`t come in our home very often but one in particular just won`t go in there and sits and stares at the door and when the doors are open it seems to be attentive to about 6 feet up. I don`t think about it much, usually 👻 Although I am trying to get a few couples organised to go for a haunted weekend sometime in the winter, a few are up for it, one won`t go I know that.....but it sounds a lot of fun!!

Cheesecake is just about the nicest dessert around!

Hope your GD`s move goes smoothly and give your daughter an extra hug or four!

Lamps are on in our rooms now around 8.45pm......I feel as if our summer is ending all of a sudden, although June seems to have been our summer this year.

Dinner was lovely, nice and spicy and I have about 6 other portionsof pulled pork in the freezer now and it freezes well so isn`t any different after it`s frozen. One of our favourite dishes, excellent too on top of burgers for an extra special burger, it needs lots of jalapenos though.

Hoping to get back out walking in the morning, weather dependent of course and planning on salmon with with shrimps in a lemon butter sauce for dinner, and tiny baby potatoes the farm store will have tomorrow. But, not much else for us, think this is the least social summer ever!

I think it`ll be another early night for us, both of us yawning our heads off already!

Charade, hope all was good with the storms today. We just had a thunderstorm line go over us, phone flashed tornado warning, get in lowest part of house, and a lightning strike so close, made my arm hair stand on end. At least was moving fast, though tornado warning still in place for 2 more hours. Oh my. And something did get hit, as our local firehouse whistle went off not much after a very loud bang. Rocking and rolling this evening.

The storm was a dud. We didn’t even get any rain. One of my friends was watching the radar and said it split and went north and south of us. We are very fortunate. The last time we had a tornado touch down it did quite a lot of damage.

And a very good morning from a warm and sunny East Coast, it is a beautiful morning here so we got up around 5.30 and went for a 5 mile walk, it was stunning out there. Bit of a cool breeze walking one way, but glorious the other way, at least the sun was bright in the sky.

Came home, showered changed and headed out to do some shopping, got a few bits and bobs, then back home. Looks to be a glorious day out there.

Going to be a day of baking for the church event tomorrow and chilling, trying not to eat the baking will be a challenge, but we`ll try!!

And we`re at 100 days till we fly.......it`s a decent countdown!!!

Have a lovely Tuesday 😁

That’s a good thing Charade. We got quite the storm, with one of our trash cans knocked over, and driving, I had to wait for a few cars to go by, tree branch blocking my lane this early morning. And thankfully, the most damage was west and northeast of me. Local news last night and early this morning, showing damage in my area.

Was even a light drizzle that started as I was a few minutes from my office. But weather lady this morning said rain would be brief, then more sunny than cloudy the rest of the morning, and more cloudy the rest of the day. But being in August, we should be close or in the low 90’s, but today, still see more like September high temps, as high today is a balmy 80 degrees.

Ah, with it just nice weather by lunchtime and dinner, good day to have that taco fix and enjoy a Taco Bell or other place, as certainly the Taco Tuesday day of this week. You know the one where now less than 20 days before I have my lazy Taco Tuesday. Woot! Even less for Sue.

And so, quick enough commute, as ugh in the City again. But will be a quiet enough day, as it is the month many do take off.

Thus, a most Terrific Taco Tuesday to all.

No one here??? Quiet day today here....

So, I baked my hiney off today and really enjoyed it! Just me in the house all afternoon, so I had the music blaring, ovens busy and it was fun.

Made tea all afternoon and may have pinched a scone or slice of something sweet along the way as I baked for the church. Tom came home and went back out to drop everything off for them, I think he was removing temptation from me!!

Cooked the salmon pieces but ended up having it ice cold with some shrimp, salad and coleslaw and Tom brought in some bread from the deli, lovely, but not very slimming either!

Tonight going to sit on my butt and watch some tv, maybe drag out the Hamish Macbeth DVD`s.....but still a gorgeous evening although chillier than this morning. It is just lovely seeing that big yellow thing in the sky for a change after all the rain we`ve had.

More tea time......🫖

Good night all. Hope no bug bites and leaving lights 💡 💡 on for those to not stub their toes.

Weather lady in late evening news said a most wonderful weather Wednesday tomorrow. Yeah, before the around 2 inches of rain to fall on Thursday, with sticky icky humidity, which probably will cause that rainfall. Thankfully, lazy Friday this week. Yay for me to have a shorter week day routine.

We’ve had family pooches in this house for 29 years. At one point or the other, always at night; they all would position themselves directly facing the front left corner of our living room. Staring intently about 7 feet up. They don’t bark or whimper, just still as a statue. Freaky. They have to be seeing something

That food looks amazing!!! And for $40!!! Those portions are huge and food looks incredible. Glad you all enjoyed them and good to hear your DS is covid free and they sort those meds out soon!!

I do agree, they have to be seeing something. It`s rare the dogs are in our home but they will occasionally give a low growl in that direction, none of us hear anything, but yes, it must be something. It is a little disconcerting.

We went out ultra early this morning for our walk, we were both wide awake so thought why not.....it was a little cool, but it turned out lovely about an hour into our walk, taken on a phone so the clarity isn`t very good.

i-Pfhvtgk-L.jpg

i-DhvrWpt-L.jpg

It was a lovely walk though, loads of people out walking this morning with dogs and loads of cyclists this morning too.

Back home cleaned two of the bathrooms, got some laundry on and now settling down for an hour to catch up on emails. Doors are wide open as it is beautiful outside.

Doing salmon and shrimp again for dinner, Tom`s request, so salmon, shrimps, coleslaw and salad for dinner, turkey wrap with salad for lunch. Food sorted.

I did hold back a few treats I baked yesterday, so we have some goodies for tea time during the day.

And Wednesday again......
