I'm waking up early tomorrow to watch Mando. I feel like there's definitely going to be spoilers everywhere.

Can't chance it.

Same ... and honestly I often get woken up by our dog during the night, and if that happens after 3am I will be tempted to watch it then - probably won't be able to get back to sleep at that point anyway so might as well

On that note can I thank everyone in this thread for being fantastic this entire season with the hiding of spoilers. I haven’t once had to enter this thread worrying that an episode would be spoiled for me. It’s very much appreciated

I might try and wake up at 3 to watch it, but I still have Twitter deleted because of a Movie Trivia league that I watch on YouTube had their end-of-season “PPV” last Saturday and I haven’t finished watching all of the matchups and I follow quite a few of their competitors. So I can easily avoid spoilers for tomorrows Episode if I decide to wait until tomorrow night...but I also want to watch it, badly and discuss how cool it was to see a CGI’d Luke Skywalker appear

Exactly. I don’t attribute having an imagination as being childish or immature. Just means your mind allows you to step out of your comfort zone. I just hear that so often “Well, Star Wars was made for kids”. Jurassic Park was in that case, made for children because believing Dinosaurs could come back via Mosquito blood thousands of years ago is as likely as Star Wars actually existing. I agree the OT had some silliness that runs parallel to the Clone Wars S1, the Ewoks is the main one. But I think there’s a darkness to the OT that you don’t see from the Clone Wars until S2

Well, yeah, but there's a darkness to Empire Strikes Back that you don't see in A New Hope either. I think the tone is pretty spot-on, which is the amazing thing about Star Wars that it can run the gamut so well form silly, to wondrous, to emotionally dark, etc.

I appreciate stuff more that tries to hit that "8 to 80" demographic - too many things don't.

so didn't want to have to try to avoid spoilers so watched season finale of Mando this morning

initial thoughts (will take time to fully process)
Was so prepared for this to be their "Empire" season and end on bit of a downer that I don't think I was prepared for it to be their "Jedi" and sort of wrap up the main story line

First, just want to say I thought Giancarlo Esposito was amazing in this episode!

Loved the parallel to when Luke took Vader's hlemet off in Jedi so "he could see him with his own eyes" to here where Mando took his helmet off to let Grogu see his face

So I knew Luke was a possibility - and in some ways the one that made the most sense, even if I sort of wanted someone different. Was great to see the character get a great fight scene and just look super powerful - reminded me of the Vader hallway scene in Rogue One (just like 3 times as long)

So I was somewhat expecting Luke but was not expecting R2-D2 so may have actually gotten more excited when he showed up!

So the main storyline is sort of over and that might be the last we see of Grogu ... but obviously some questions remain largely around Din and Bo and the Dark Saber, how does that get settled. Plus Gideon said they got from Grogu what they wanted and obviously either Bo or the New Republic will take that info (and likely employ Dr. Pershing) to do something with it - so that could obviously be a new storyline

And then that post credit scene ... guess why we aren't getting a Boba Fett series - because he is taking over Mano, and least for the next bit as we get "The Book of Boba Fett"

All in all a great, great episode but I think part of me is sad to see the storyline end and just selfishly wanted more of it

becuase the Internet is going to be spoiler city.
I avoided Twitter first thing this morning. So far, at least in my feed, people haven't spoiled anything. Same with Facebook. But the day is still young. lol. About the only thing I saw is what I had posted about there being an end credit scene.

Yeah, there is one. I almost turned it off but got suspicious when it didn't blink back to the Disney+ "watch this next" screen. Just wait through it.

After reading TheMaxRebo spoiler, it made me think more about the ending of the episode. It definitely had vibes of a series finale, at least in the sense of where things are left with Grogu. Yes, the whole Dark Saber issue is probably the next main story line. Not to mention the story ark with Mando himself and taking off his helmet again.

When I saw the post credit scene with Boba Fett, I just thought this was going to be another Star Wars series in addition to The Mandalorian. I am guessing this new series wasn't announced during the Investor Day news dump to avoid spoilers. But now it does have me thinking, based on the other comment, that the Boba Fett series may take over The Mandalorian. I thought I had heard that there has been the announcement of Season 3.

Now it will be interesting to think about what the future of Grogu will be. Does Kyle Ren kill him when he destroys Luke’s temple? Is Grogu already back with Mando by that time? Does Grogu escape a second temple destruction? And, more importantly, how much will we see of Grogu in future seasons now? He really is the star of the show, merchandise and publicity wise, I can‘t see Disney wanting him to just be off training with Luke, unless Luke will also have a bigger role in future seasons. That would be cool too, to have Luke be a more major character in the Mando and Ashoka shows, giving his training and assistance to Ashoka and showing his building of the temple and training of Grogu.

I’m just so glad it was Luke. I know some didn’t want it to be him and have this story stay separate from the Skywalker story, but he’s just so important to the timeline, and really his most important time is coming up in his training of Ben which we haven’t see anything of in canon. He was the right choice to come get Grogu, anyone else wouldn’t have felt right. And we deserve to see a real kick *** version of Master Skywalker.

There is going to be a Season 3 of Mando and there was no announcement of a Boba standalone series at the Investor Day. We could very well just see Boba as a side story in Mando going forward. Also, it’s never been officially stated in canon where Luke’s temple was constructed and all the scenes in the new trilogy were at night, so very difficult to tell what the planet looked like. Could Luke be taking Grogu to Tatooine to establish the temple and have some interactions with Boba there?

That was a good finale. Everything came together very well. I really enjoyed the pivots throughout the episode.
My main complaint is we didn’t really learn much about Gideon’s plans, I was hoping for a bit more there. Although it still seems like he’s working for Palpatine to me, whether he knows or not.
Mando having the Dark Saber is a nice change, I love when that thing is on screen. So hopefully we get to see it more often.
Book of Boba has to just be the subtitle for season 3. So I imagine it’ll focus on Boba and the retaking of Mandalore.
Luke made the most sense, so I’m happy it was him. And now I’m hoping that those Cad Bane rumors come to be.
I’m hoping that Grogu takes a backseat now, maybe getting a time jump before he returns. He does need to start aging to be a bit more useful. Plus if we get a fully trained Grogu, it would be a lot more interesting to me.

Even though I kinda figured we’d see luke, still cool to see him. Extremely impressive CGI, much better than the general in TFA. I just kinda feel like the show is better than reliance on deus ex machina and yet we get it over and over.

Agreed both on title for Season 3 and Palestine being the big boss of Gideon. With all the hints to cloning throughout the series it has to be him calling the shots, even if it’s through Snoke.

Also since Boba was clearly out for revenge against Bib Fortuna, what are the odds of revenge on the man that’s actually responsible for him going into the Sarlaac?

That wasn't deus ex machina though - they set up the entire Grogu contacting a member of his kind for several episodes. It was the logical story progression. Now, the many times some powerful troop of Mandalorians unknown backup has showed up and daved Din from certain death, I think those fit the bill. They did it twice in one episode in the first one with Bo Katan.
