I need to. I was trying some calculators and they weren’t that helpful. The interest savings would be about $40k over the life of the loan so it’s just a question if I’m comfortable increasing my payment $250/month. I like having a small mortgage since I’m a one-income household but maybe I should go for it.
Have you used this amortization calculator? It gives you an option to add extra payments and see how that affects your numbers.

Is anyone else struggling to make themselves use the "Pay Yourself Back" feature on their CSR? Right now I can redeem about 27k points to get a $400 statement credit. I could use the cash and I *rationally* know that most of my redemptions are at 1.5cpp through the Chase travel portal, so I'm technically getting the same value even if I'm redeeming them for groceries vs a rental car. My only big-ticket travel currently planned is for Japan 2021 and I don't need any more URs for that. On the other hand, I like seeing those six figures of points in my UR account as my little travel slush fund and knowing I can take trips....eventually :( .... without having to budget money for lodging or transportation.
I have been cashing out everything at the 1.5 since that is my redemption when using the Chase travel portal, we only fly SW and have plenty of RR points.
Then I put the money saved...in your example it would be $400 into my travel account for future use.
Like @palhockeymomof2, I'm also using PYB for all my points. I also use my points on the Chase portal and for Southwest, and I have lots of RR points. I figure cash is better to use for booking travel than the portal- more flexibility in where I book, plus sometimes cheaper (with AAA disounts, buying discounted Disney gift cards, etc.). If I pay with a CC I earn more points, too.

I'm putting my extra cash to work on bank bonuses, so it's intermingled with my other savings. I do have a line in my spreadsheet though, noting how much I've cashed out. When I eventually spend some of it on travel, I'll mentally subtract it from that total (and deduct it from of my spreadsheet too). Very much looking forward to that day!

So my parents just texted and they've had a big storm in Northern Michigan and my mom says there are trees down on the house, blocking the driveway, blocking the garage, etc. I think they have partial power (not sure how). They're in their 70s so they will just need to wait until a tree guy can get to them I guess. My mom said she just got a case of wine so she should be good until tomorrow:)

And dd's job is not working out. I'm so disappointed in her but basically it's too stressful and she worked herself into an anxiety attack. I wish I had the luxury to be too stressed to work. Having a job had been a major source of contention between us so I'm not happy.

Looked like a big storm on radar. I hope they’re ok! Breathe!
Dad has been located. He said they got the worst of it. I really wish they would sell this house. It's too big, too much property, and too much to keep up with.

Last year I thought DS would send me to an early grave. This year it's DD and my parents.

Yes. But my brain finally triumphed over my emotions. I too use the portal for 1.5x redemptions- but usually I’m not getting THE best deals so I’m not actually getting 1.5x at the end of the day. For instance I’ll book hotels I could be getting a 5-10% AAA discount at or a book direct with the hotel and save 10% discount on. Things like airfare that are the same price sure but I’m losing my 3% back on travel I would earn charging it to my credit card.

So it wasn’t easy to get myself to click the redeem button but I finally did. I’m keeping track of the amount I redeem and that will be added to my travel budget as cash in the future.

I did another $300 gift card at Kroger today that I will pay myself back for. So far I'm at $1800 total.

I may have tried it but didn't notice I could add the extra payment. If I add an extra $250/month it looks like it only saves me about two years. So 21 more years adding extra vs. 15 years if I re-finance. I'm not sure I'm thinking about this right. My mind is mush at the moment.

Here’s part of their driveway. View attachment 511505

I just hope they don’t try to do anything. My mom was in the er in May after she fell trying to fold up an outdoor table in Florida.
Glad they're OK. Early or late 70's? Our parents have all passed on, so I understand the frustration with older folks, but my 66 yo DH would definitely be out there with his chainsaw clearing that!

Dad will be 77 next week and mom is 76. I did tell them to let me know if they need groceries and I can order instacart once the main roads are cleared.

Hey friends, I could use all thoughts and prayers. My ds9 is sick. Like has ran a fever for 3 days now. Sore throat, headache, super fatigued....I do not think he has covid. He is my kiddo who runs a fever with anything and everything. He ran a 106 fever with teething. I am not lying. I took him in to the ped like 4-5 times between 4-8 mos for 105-106 fevers. Every time a tooth would start erupting, he'd get a high fever. They'd draw blood and urine and give a shot of Rocephin but nothing ever turned up for an infection. Finally we connected the dots that this coincided with a new tooth. He just runs hot and his immune system gets really excited. We leave for wdw in 3 days. I'm hopeful his fever will be gone by then but it was still very much there today. Also, just a bit worried if any of the rest of us catch whatever he has, we could potentially have a fever too though it is unlikely. Ugh, we've not been sick at all since like Jan and now this right before our trip. Why, oh why...???
Oh no. Hoping it breaks soon.

OLD THREADS HAVE BEEN REMOVED:
Support Link Thread Refresh is now complete. The old threads have been removed. You can still add your links to the new thread if you wish and they will remain open for 5+ months until we get to do this all over again! :D

7/9/2020 - DISchurners Announcement #1 - Chase, Amex & Misc Support Link THREAD REFRESH

It's time for everybody's favorite event...the semi-annual refresh of the SUPPORT Link Threads.

As a reminder - ANYBODY is welcome to share their support links in these threads. The instructions are at the top of each one.

For those that have previously posted, the easiest way to move them over is:
1) Go to your OLD comment in the OLD thread (you'll see the old threads listed near the bottom of the DISchurners feed)
2) Click EDIT
3) COPY the entire comment text in the edit box
4) PASTE the comment text as a NEW comment in the NEW thread (you'll find the new threads near the top of the feed)
5) CHECK all links to make sure they are active and working and make sure that your description of the offer matches the actual offer!
You do NOT need to delete your old comment when done, you can just leave it in that thread.

This process will help you not have to re-do all your formatting.
Side Note: It is best to access DISchurners in old reddit. (https://old.reddit.com/r/DISchurners/)

Side Note 2: I would also advise that you check to make sure that all of your links are accurate and working!!

I will post reminders for this over the next week or so and will then remove the old threads with only the new threads remaining.

One more general reminder, reddit flags many support links as spam. I then go in and manually approve them. I will keep an eye on that as we conduct the refresh and approve them all as quickly as possible! :D

I will be putting out a few announcements this evening as I work through a thread refresh. A reddit thread locks after 6 months and if we want to continue the discussion, a new one is created. To draw attention to some of the various topics we have available on DISchurners, I will do these as a series of announcements tonight.

If you'd like to join DISchurners, simply send me a PM here on the DISboards and we'll get you all setup!

Thank you! He's up now and watching Disney+. Already seems to feel much better. No fever so far today!

Glad he seems to be feeling better. So scary yall had to go through that. Hoping he's back to 100% in time for your trip.

Will paying directly to disney for a vacation package count as travel for the CSR? Thank you
Yep!

Fever, headache, sore throat and stomach upset aren’t covid symptoms? I hope your son feels better and is able to travel on Tuesday.
She said the main thing is coughing, breathing difficulties and/or chest pain. Said fever isn’t a symptom that warrants testing without something respiratory. I think his sore throat is related to a canker sore on it. He and I both get 1-2 canker sores on the back of our throat with *anything* viral. It’s weird and I think maybe autoimmune. Idk. Main thing has been his fever (which has been gone since last night),stomach ache and headache.

Oh, that’s good. Did the fever subside? We were getting the antibiotics in DS as quickly as I could in Feb but he still was not feeling when went to USO and never did see the parks that trip.
No fever at all today!!! We are okay with very relaxed days at wdw. If we need to not enter a park for whatever reason, I think we’re fine with that. Timing sucks on this but I can’t control it.
