So, went to send a link to my 'new' fridge to older daughter because son in law came by and told me their fridge is broke. And it's out of stock at Costco. This worries me a bit as I don't yet have a tracking number.

Old fridge is still holding up somewhat since I messed with it. Not super cold but cold enough. I feel bad getting rid of it but it's 15 years old. I'm pretty sure it's fixable, but I'm ready for the 'new'.
We had a similar issue with our dishwasher, it could be fixed but it was 10 years old, so who knows what else would go out after the repair. We decided to just buy a new one, we ended up getting an “open box” item from Best Buy during their 40% sale and only paid $275.

I'm pretty sure I'll be shopping for a dishwasher in the next couple of years. It was purchased after my fridge but before 2010. Whirlpool. I like this dishwasher just fine, so don't want it to die. Stove is ?? years - I would have to find the receipt. Stove is a different matter - I want a completely different type.

Stove and fridge are easier to replace. Dishwasher - you have to deal with the dreaded plumbing companies. I will do anything to avoid plumbers. Not the people or even the company - it's just the process makes me feel so out of control.

I need some help! Dd has a great job with the City of Toronto this summer (she did her training today). She will be running a drop-in "Park Play" program in a local park. She has to come up with all the games herself and if she needs any supplies she has to ask her supervisor. It will be just her and 1 other counselor whom she hasn't met yet (hope she likes them!).

Any and all suggestions for socially distanced games (kids must be 6' apart at all times) that require minimal or no supplies are appreciated! Parents must be there, but she will be responsible for running the program.

It's her first job so she doesn't know what to expect. I keep reminding her how lucky she is to have this job as a lot of kids her age (18) lost their jobs due to the virus. She applied in February and interviewed in April.
Charades, Simon Says, 20 questions, I spy. I see from later post they have hula hoops, so maybe contest to see who can hula hoop the longest. They can also "jump rope" using hula hoop. If they can get a few balls, passing them back and forth with hockey sticks would work, but the kids can't pick up the balls or touch with hands (so balloon tosses or other ball related things would be out)

The person I spoke with was US based, but I didn't push for a supervisor yet. Now that AF is about due, I will. I'm not going to pay an AF indefinitely because they won't allow me to close without the card number.
Maybe explain you can't even pay the AF if you can't log in?

I tried a new bagel recipe this morning and these are the best I’ve made so far.

I'm thinking of trying English muffins today. A coworker gave me one she made and it was pretty good. English muffins or bagels? Just have to get my butt off the couch.

In other news, we had rescheduled June DLR trip to August which is still not happening. So we opted for 2 nights camping at a state park an hour and a half away. Our big vacay spend this year: $50.

This is so true! I think we have forgotten that there are still tons of other viruses that are very much still circulating and infecting.
True but COVID is still a risk. I'd get a test just to be sure. CVS here does them. I know your kids aren't going anywhere but 36 kids at one high school here have all gotten it, turns out they were at a party together.
I feel like I've had COVID 20 times since March. Every time I feel a little crappy or cough I think "This is it". They are doing antibody tests at work and I have no antibodies so I haven't had it, but the worry is real.

Thinking about refinancing. I''m 7 years into a 30-year fixed with a 3.5% rate. Can go to a 15-year at 2.625% which would increase my monthly payments by about $250. I hate decisions like this.
That looks like a good rate. When we refinanced into a 2.875% 15-year from a 30-year, we were around 7-8 years into the 30-year too (which I had already refinanced twice by then). The biggest concern I had was committing to the higher payment with job security never being a sure thing. I ran numbers to see what would happen to the amortization table if I just put the extra money into the 30 year mortgage, that way we'd have some wiggle room if the SHTF. Have you tried doing that to see how it compares? I found we would save a lot in interest (like $70K) going with the 15-yr. If you have great job security, I would lean toward the 15 year mortgage. We are now only 7 years away from paying it off, and that makes me feel so encouraged. I looked into refinance rates this week too, and haven't found any that would make monetary sense but I keep hoping I'll find something.

I thought I'd try to open a Chase Biz checking acct to hopefully increase my chances of card approval. Sole Prop can't do that online. Thanks Covid. I don't really want to go in branch, kind of sort of quarantining right now and we're having an increase in numbers here. Developing a plan b now.

This is us, especially as the rates keep dropping. DH and I keep talking about it. We plan to sell in 4 years and will pay for college and pay outright for our next home from the sale. We could cut our payment in 1/2 Now and then use that extra to purchase our retirement home whenever we find it and in the meantime, we could either continuing making the same payment or put the extra into savings. I am torn. I do have the Provident refinance app almost completed but can’t hit the submit button.

I need to. I was trying some calculators and they weren’t that helpful. The interest savings would be about $40k over the life of the loan so it’s just a question if I’m comfortable increasing my payment $250/month. I like having a small mortgage since I’m a one-income household but maybe I should go for it.

My boss makes English muffins a lot and says They are good. Hers are very uniform. Uniformity is not something I excel at.

Hey friends, I could use all thoughts and prayers. My ds9 is sick. Like has ran a fever for 3 days now. Sore throat, headache, super fatigued....I do not think he has covid. He is my kiddo who runs a fever with anything and everything. He ran a 106 fever with teething. I am not lying. I took him in to the ped like 4-5 times between 4-8 mos for 105-106 fevers. Every time a tooth would start erupting, he'd get a high fever. They'd draw blood and urine and give a shot of Rocephin but nothing ever turned up for an infection. Finally we connected the dots that this coincided with a new tooth. He just runs hot and his immune system gets really excited. We leave for wdw in 3 days. I'm hopeful his fever will be gone by then but it was still very much there today. Also, just a bit worried if any of the rest of us catch whatever he has, we could potentially have a fever too though it is unlikely. Ugh, we've not been sick at all since like Jan and now this right before our trip. Why, oh why...???
This sounds like my DS in Feb when he had an “ear infection.” (I would have sworn he had strep or the flu but both were negative.) I would definitely have him seen quickly So you can be safe. Especially with COVID on the rise again.

He’s much better today. Our docs are only seeing people for urgent care and covid symptoms. I explained his symptoms and they don’t think it sounds like covid or anything else concerning. I think it was more tummy bug than anything but he hit fatigued and headachy from not eating. So, just gonna continue to keep an eye on him. He’s been up playing today which I’m happy to see!

Oh, that’s good. Did the fever subside? We were getting the antibiotics in DS as quickly as I could in Feb but he still was not feeling when went to USO and never did see the parks that trip.

@Judique Have you tried the Hyatt Place on 16th st in OCMD? We are thinking of trying it in a couple of weeks as I try to work on increasing my Hyatt status.

Yes, I've been there 4 times and I love it! Let me qualify that I haven't been there this summer yet, but I did call them about the breakfast and they offer a bagged breakfast with hot sandwich and fruit/yoghurt and will make you coffee.

I'm booked there during my fridge delivery window, actually right before and have a free night tied into it at the category 4 rate of 15K. They are now a 20K hotel so I must use it or will have to use it elsewhere, as it won't work if I rebook it..

I like that it is a smaller hotel, has under the hotel ground level shaded parking, decent coffee and the people have been Disney quality or better always very nice. On my 3rd visit they upgraded me to ocean front and gave me a fruit and candy plate with drinks and a nice note thanking me for coming back.

I'll be there after I get my fridge delivered. There are plenty of points rooms available in August. Another family member will probably use my free night.

Have fun!
