RotR Planning & Daily Boarding Group Discussion - *CLOSED*

I don’t mind that the VQ is full quickly, to me it makes total sense for a brand new attraction that was this anticipated would see this kind of thing in the first days of opening. Especially one we had heard about having reliability issues. And without the VQ it would be a mess if they had to clear the queue every time it went down and distribute FastPass. Not necessarily here but on Facebook groups I’ve seen a lot of people complaining how unfair it is you can’t walk in later in the day and ride. First (and now second) day of one of the most anticipated attractions ever, I don’t know why anybody thought that would work!

Being annoyed with the unposted early openings I can get behind. That is obnoxious.

Agreed with this. Especially since I saw a post on here I think it was that the CM was saying parking opening at 9 to everyone in line, but 5 minutes later they opened the gates. Like what's the point of the CM having to say that

Just walked off after standing for 45 mins. I’m wearing a boot on my right leg so this is making my legs hurt

simple google search will do.
If I'm visiting WDW for opening of rise google "tips for riding rise of the resistance at hollywood studios"
I guess it's how much you value your money, again if I'm spending a lot on a vacation I would want to be prepared. Sure people come here blindly but at that point it's on them for not researching

Sorry, but opening at 6am when they say 9am on all official sites is wrong. You can apologize on their behalf all day and I will never agree.

I see both sides:
If I was paying a good chunk of money to visit WDW I would research, again these early openings are nothing new, Pandora, 2.5 years after it opens still does this. People interested in riding any new attraction at DIsney should know it will be popular, especially this one with all the hype.
On the other side Disney should say on their website and app that the park might open earlier than posted opening times.
Operations opens the park depending on crowds outside the gates, the larger the crowds the earlier they try to open the park, which is why for the past 3 years they have been opening MK Main Street an hour before official park opening.

The 3 hours is unprecedented though, no? Generally it’s within the hour of posted opening isn’t it?

As for the 6 am open, I get the frustration on “missing out” but the fact is by opening early the park is serving all guests more. That means more operation time for all rides. If DHS opened at 9, those that arrived at 8:45 would still have been shut out. Even factoring in the re riders, three extra hours of operation is still more people riding.
I’m shocked this info didn’t leak though. Kind of impressed about that. All those CM’s had to have known they were working at 6am.
I've been updating CM schedules for 2 weeks here, we knew the park would be ready to open earlier, myself and others have been saying to arrive at 5am or 6am

The first day I can understand and expect, anything past that is deceptive. Within an hour of stated opening time okay, not 3 hours that’s crazy.

Agree!! They have to know they are opening early...... they have a full staff of CMs on. It’s not like they can open the park without them. Or they just called them at 5 & said “change of plans, get here by 6”. If you have staff scheduled to open the park at 6..... let the public know too!!! Even if you only announce it for a few days at a time.

This is really ticking me off. They should have just done a soft opening to work out the kinks. No expectations; less disappointment.

I'm actually not apologizing on anyone's behalf, and I say this again, the early opening is not new, they have done this since Pandora and they still open the park AK earlier than advertised.. You don't have to agree with me

Right???? I almost fell off the bench. It's just an example of how little most people actually plan.

too be fair though Disney is a very special place when it comes to planning so far in advance. When I have co workers tell me they are going for the first time or ask me how to plan and I tell them about her dining in advance and then doing Fp 60 days out they get very overwhelmed. Even the casual Disneyland person who has never been to the World can be very overwhelmed by it

It’s rather amazing how an entire park can keep a secret isn’t it... Well that and everyone knows it’s all being closely monitored and no one wants to be the one to squeal..

This one seems to be a bigger breakdown this morning. Not calling any new groups for a while it seems.

I know and I don't want to derail this thread on a subject that's already been beaten to death.

My point is that if you don't read the SUBforums on here or follow bloggers you would not know about the park opening at 6am.

Can someone post when it’s back up, had to find a place to rest my leg so not near entrance

Makes sense they would give out less boarding groups today. They only got to 127 yesterday and people had into the 150s. This gives them more of a chance to get through all the groups and if they do make it through with time to spare they could always open it back up.

I'm sure they don't want to give out anymore comp tickets. They were wonderful for doing so, but it sets a precedent.

I believe 158 was the highest, at least that I saw. So over 30 groups didn’t make it.
