People will need to update their links - but you'll find them here.

https://www.reddit.com/r/DISchurners/comments/98u7i0/official_amex_referral_thread/

Currently I show 4 offers of interest available:
  • AMEX Hilton Honors - 100,000 Hilton pts. after spending $1,000 within 3 months
  • AMEX Hilton Honors Ascend - 150,000 Hilton pts. after spending $3,000 within 3 months
  • AMEX Hilton Honors Aspire - offer 1 - 150,000 Hilton pts. after spending $4,000 within 3 months
  • AMEX Hilton Honors Aspire - offer2 - 100,000 Hilton pts. PLUS a free weekend night after spending $4,000
EDIT: There's also a Biz Card offer but I can't generate a link for that so I'm unsure what it is. :) (looks like it's 125k maybe...)

EDIT2: If you are using a support link, make sure it's for the best offer. Not all the links are updated and AMEX probably won't match you if you use a link for a lower offer.
I've got the Hilton Biz offer = 125,000 Hilton points after spending $3,000 within 3 months.

I am now lol.

I'm thinking we might go for the Ascend, but I really can't decide. It's either that or I get a CSR. The room we want at Hilton Tokyo Bay will take quite a few Hilton points (414,000 points). We have enough URs already to buy that room through the Chase portal, but it'll be non-refundable and I don't know if we should save those URs for something else.

AMEX clawback situation worth following:

https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/9hecnv/daily_discussion_thread_september_20_2018/e6byryx/

Summary:

This user earned signup bonuses from the AMEX Ameriprise Gold, AMEX Green (personal), & AMEX Biz Gold Rewards cards on 2/15/18, 1/22/18 and 9/30/17 respectively. They have had the MRs sitting in their account since then. They DID NOT do MS (Manuf. Spend) to earn these bonuses.

The 100k points were clawed back (25k, 25k, 50k) with the following wording in an email: “We recently noticed point accrual or redemption activity on your Membership Rewards program account that indicates an effort to obtain or use points in a manner that is not appropriate.”

The user says they recently cancelled their BGR when the 2nd year AF was charged. They did cancel the Ameriprise Gold card after just 5 months (which was probably a dumb move) but that was likely 2 or 3 months ago at this point.

Very odd situation...has me a little spooked since I have 70k MRs and my wive has 190k MRs right now...would hate to have them clawed back.

EDIT: FYI my summary takes into account all of the comments made by this user so you don't have to read the whole string. :)

The Aspire is the one that gives you all the cool benefits I think though. This would be a really tough choice for me if I were in your position. I'd still say having each of you get a Hilton Biz and the 125k points is a great plan. That combined with an Aspire or Ascent would get you the 414k points for your room. Good Luck - Lots to consider!!

Chase > Amex

Amex has the Amex Travel portal where you can redeem points for air and hotels, but it’s more complicated to understand MR redemptions than UR points on the UR portal. MRs also transfer to Hilton at 1:1.5 (terrible), and I believe the Choice budget hotels?

SPG/Marriott 1000:1000 (so 1:1) also.

YIKES! I have 609--- MR plus 20--- pending. Losing those would be :scared1:. That said, I've been pretty diligent lately about putting spend on each and every one of my 5 credit cards, 5 charge cards and having my AUs do the same. Hopefully that will keep me out of trouble. I might re-think the Australia/NZ trip for 2020 vice 2021 though...

Amex Premier Rewards Gold Revamped! 4x MR on Groceries and Restaurants, $120 Dining Credit (at Select Food Delivery Services and Restaurants) Per Year.

Today Amex announced new benefits of this card:
  • $120 Dining Credit: You get $10 monthly dining credit available at Grubhub, Seamless, The Cheesecake Factory, Ruth's Chris Steak House, Shake Shack. Must enroll first and pay using Premier Rewards Gold card.

  • 4x points at US restaurant

  • 4x points at US supermarket, up to $25k purchase per calendar year.

  • 2x points at US gas station is removed.
As the OP says, the new benefit makes this card a no-brainer for a lot of folks.

The PRG comes with an easily pulled 50k MR/$2k MSR incognito offer, first year AF waived and $195 AF afterwards.

The PRG’s benefits include a calendar year $100 airline fee credit that works the same way as the Platinum and Hilton Aspire. Now, the PRG also includes a $120 dining credit to select restaurants and food delivery services, doled out at $10 increments every month. And the 4x MR at restaurants and grocery stores is better than a lot of other cards.

This card was on the chopping block for me come renewal time next year, but I may end up keeping it for a slice of cheesecake every month. Thank you, Amex!

Before I get my hopes up, are we sure this is not targeted? The AmEX website is still showing the old benefits for new applications.

:scared1: Yikes! That is scary! My BGR will come up on 1-yr soon and I was planning to get rid of it. All while I've been opening up tons of Amex MR cards in the mean time. That is a really concerning DP.

Makes me think I should just take my MR and put them in Delta, which is where they will most likely end up anyway.

@disneymagicgirl - that’s not technically true. Amex has the Amex Travel portal where you can redeem points for air and hotels, but it’s more complicated to understand MR redemptions than UR points on the UR portal. MRs also transfer to Hilton at 1:1.5 (terrible), and I believe the Choice budget hotels?

Thanks for clarifying. You can tell how often I use it.

This is a very concerning DP. We'll have to see if more start rolling in. Our plan has been to have P2 accumulate MRs, then get a Schwab Plat when my AF comes due to cash them all in. She has about 110k MRs. Might have to speed up getting that Schwab.

Makes me think I should just take my MR and put them in Delta, which is where they will most likely end up anyway.
I have no viable use for mine at this point since I cancelled my Schwab Plat. I'm considering some gift cards and calling it a day. They'll have to pry my Olive Garden and Home Depot cards from my cold dead hands if they want their MRs back, LOL!!

My wife's on the other hand...probably looking at a Schwab Plat for her down the line.

I just read an article on boarding area which implies this is either limited OR amex plans on rolling it out but the announcement has been premature. I was super excited and there's nothing on my card page which indicates the changes. Usually Amex will send an email (or something) so I'm not hitting up restaurants until it's official.

:scared1: Yikes! That is scary! My BGR will come up on 1-yr soon and I was planning to get rid of it. All while I've been opening up tons of Amex MR cards in the mean time. That is a really concerning DP.

I know, right? I went and calculated how much spend I've put on Amex (total) and that was even scarier :faint:, until I remembered about $37k of that was 2017 annual taxes and quarterly taxes. Wow.
I'm rethinking my Amex strategy now and hoping that was just an isolated DP.

Thanks, that is a lot to consider. I would be worried that it would take a long time to get all of those points and the room would be gone. What do you think?

Wow, wish there was a Stop and Shop here! Yes, I do need to tell WM how much on each card. But I start off the transaction by saying I want to buy 2 mos for 1k each and split the payments and then they are good with that.

ETA: I also come home and change the PIN on each card to one that I remember so that I'm not fumbling with the little pieces of paper w the PIN from the packaging. No way I'll remember 3 diff PINs for 3 diff vgcs, and the ones from the grocery store seem to all be the one with PINs in the packaging.

I like the Meta Bank...I glance at the card after I swipe and the last 4 numbers are the pin. Quicker than setting all the pins via the website.

Amazing! Just got this card...makes it even better.

ooh, good to know this works at Stop and Shop, thanks!

Yes...and there are quite a few Stop & Shops around so it makes it easy.

At WM, I also tell them the MO amounts and THEN tell them "$500 on this card", cashier presses buttons, "Remainder on this card".

We have a Giant (not Giant Eagle), which has the same S&S logo and accepts S&S giftcards. I believe S&S and Giant are owned by the same parent and interchangeable, which makes me wonder if I should try this with a $500 VGC first, to see if it auto-drains :ssst:

@MrPTato Does your S&S sell WU MO or MoneyGram? Are you using Metas or Vanilla at S&S?

Our S&S's all around...been to like 10 in the area (at least) all sell WU which are easier to deposit via mobile app as they seem to print darker. I look fort the Metas as I know they work...and I think that is all they sell.

@Judique I'm right there with you...mixed emotions :jumping3: + :sad2:

One one hand, I REALLLLLLLLLLLY want this card and love the new revamped earnings rate(s), but now I need to sort out how this works into my 5/24 and CP plans. As if the Lux (and potentially the elevated Hilton bonuses if I pull the trigger) didn't already put a dent in that...Though, now with the DD dead, I may no longer need to get DH the CSR (yet). He's 3/24 and I was going to get him the Hilton Aspire before the DD later this year (since he just got the CIP this month), but now even if I take him to 5/24, he has a card falling off next May and another in June, so no urgency I guess since I have a CSR and the 50K is unlikely to go anywhere. Only issue is would this affect his ability to pull the 100K plat offer down the road...Thinking aloud

I've been expressing my love for Amex over Chase quite a bit these days, so I echo this :D

When I get over 5/24 and get this card I think so. I hope to earn a bunch of MRs then cash out. Although I hope I can save a few to redeem for two first class seats to Japan.

That my plan with the card...I need 2 tickets to Japan in 2021.

@SBWB48 - I screwed up the quote but my reply is in your post. WU MOs and Meta cards.

I'm thinking we might go for the Ascend, but I really can't decide. It's either that or I get a CSR. The room we want at Hilton Tokyo Bay will take quite a few Hilton points (414,000 points). I have been toying with the idea to stay at a Hilton top tier resort at some point in the future, and would think having the Aspire at the same time as my stay would be my best bet. I have a long term plan to get all the Hilton bonuses over the next 2-3 years and, when ready to redeem for a big stay, get the Aspire to use for on property benefits/status perks. @calypso726 would be better for this kind of question though!
