I love credit cards so much!

Do you need to tell Walmart that you are doing, lets say, $500 on the first card or will it automatically deduct after each swipe? I usually do $2000 at Stop and Shop with 4 swipes and it auto deducts so the cashier doesn't seem to ask questions.

Wow, wish there was a Stop and Shop here! Yes, I do need to tell WM how much on each card. But I start off the transaction by saying I want to buy 2 mos for 1k each and split the payments and then they are good with that.

ETA: I also come home and change the PIN on each card to one that I remember so that I'm not fumbling with the little pieces of paper w the PIN from the packaging. No way I'll remember 3 diff PINs for 3 diff vgcs, and the ones from the grocery store seem to all be the one with PINs in the packaging.

At WM, I also tell them the MO amounts and THEN tell them "$500 on this card", cashier presses buttons, "Remainder on this card".

We have a Giant (not Giant Eagle), which has the same S&S logo and accepts S&S giftcards. I believe S&S and Giant are owned by the same parent and interchangeable, which makes me wonder if I should try this with a $500 VGC first, to see if it auto-drains :ssst:

@MrPTato Does your S&S sell WU MO or MoneyGram? Are you using Metas or Vanilla at S&S?

Amex Premier Rewards Gold Revamped! 4x MR on Groceries and Restaurants, $120 Dining Credit (at Select Food Delivery Services and Restaurants) Per Year.

Today Amex announced new benefits of this card:
  • $120 Dining Credit: You get $10 monthly dining credit available at Grubhub, Seamless, The Cheesecake Factory, Ruth's Chris Steak House, Shake Shack. Must enroll first and pay using Premier Rewards Gold card.

  • 4x points at US restaurant

  • 4x points at US supermarket, up to $25k purchase per calendar year.

  • 2x points at US gas station is removed.
As the OP says, the new benefit makes this card a no-brainer for a lot of folks.

The PRG comes with an easily pulled 50k MR/$2k MSR incognito offer, first year AF waived and $195 AF afterwards.

The PRG’s benefits include a calendar year $100 airline fee credit that works the same way as the Platinum and Hilton Aspire. Now, the PRG also includes a $120 dining credit to select restaurants and food delivery services, doled out at $10 increments every month. And the 4x MR at restaurants and grocery stores is better than a lot of other cards.

This card was on the chopping block for me come renewal time next year, but I may end up keeping it for a slice of cheesecake every month. Thank you, Amex!

I actually love this. Amex>Chase.

Yeah! For people not as familiar with the PRG, I forgot to add that the 4x MR at restaurants and groceries categories got bumped up from rather anemic 2x MR bonuses.

I’m fine with Amex getting rid of 2x MR at gas stations, since many other cards offer 2x or better bonuses for gas, and you can pretty easily buy gas gift cards at 5% or better. I mean, you could even use your revamped PRG to buy gas gift cards at a supermarket for 4x MR, earn grocery store fuel points, and use the gift card and points to pay for gas!

WHY why why does something good come along just when I'm ready to settle down??????

@Judique I'm right there with you...mixed emotions :jumping3: + :sad2:

One one hand, I REALLLLLLLLLLLY want this card and love the new revamped earnings rate(s), but now I need to sort out how this works into my 5/24 and CP plans. As if the Lux (and potentially the elevated Hilton bonuses if I pull the trigger) didn't already put a dent in that...Though, now with the DD dead, I may no longer need to get DH the CSR (yet). He's 3/24 and I was going to get him the Hilton Aspire before the DD later this year (since he just got the CIP this month), but now even if I take him to 5/24, he has a card falling off next May and another in June, so no urgency I guess since I have a CSR and the 50K is unlikely to go anywhere. Only issue is would this affect his ability to pull the 100K plat offer down the road...Thinking aloud

I actually love this. Amex>Chase.

I've been expressing my love for Amex over Chase quite a bit these days, so I echo this :D

The CSR travel credit is now by cardmember year. Your $300 travel credit should reset in 1/19. Your second year AF should be billed at the end of your 1/19 monthly statement. Chase gives you 30 days after your AF is billed to cancel (or PC to a no fee card) and receive a refund. You can two tap that travel credit during that period when the credit resets until 30 days after your AF posts.
Excellent use of the term "two tap"...I'm all about tappin' that TC twice!! (get your minds out of the gutter folks!!!!)

We’ve all done it lol...I opened up a Jared card once...big mistake
Woah Woah...ALL is a strong word. I don't want to be lumped in with this crowd :P LOL!

Thanks for the feedback on my CSR/CSP debate! I'm going to refer DH for the CSP probably at the end of October, depending on how far into this SPG Biz spend I am. I'll save my referral link and then downgrade my CSP once my annual fee hits in a couple days.
Sounds like an awesome plan! Glad you were able to figure out what works best for you guys :)

Guys lol...my Angry Churning grandpa side came out on r/churning today LOLOLOL!! (See here: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/9hecnv/daily_discussion_thread_september_20_2018/e6bmxzo/)

I dunno why but I LOVE hearing from all my friends here that their points have posted. BUT when people share it on r/churning on the DD thread I'm like "c'mon get over yourself!!" Perhaps it's because there are thousands of people commenting over there and it isn't really a community of friends. Oh well - I promise Angry Churner Grandpa won't come out here with you guys :) :p

I’m a first time poster on this thread, so I’m sorry if I’m hijacking! I just figured y’all would be the best people to ask!

I’m looking for a good balance transfer card. My current Discover It card’s promo will be up in November and I want to transfer my remaining debt to a no-frills card purely to pay it off. Any recommendations?

AmEx Everyday card has no fee for BT if done in the first 60 days and 0% interest for 15 months. It has a sign up bonus of 15000 MR points for spending $1000 in the first 90 days (0% APR for purchases too) and earns double points at supermarkets.

Literally no frills is the Chase Slate card. Same terms for BTs as the AmEx but it doesn't earn rewards or anything. It's really designed as a BT card. I think BoA has a similar card. If all things were equal, I'd go for the AmEx since you get rewards on top.

Hilton card holders, check for new support links - there should be higher offers available for the no fee and Ascend cards to match the incognito offers. (100k/150k)
Thanks for the headsup, updated mine, and also deleted my Ascend referral link, since I cancelled the card.

Appreciate the update...we will be there next week.....our late night is Wednesday....for the DVC event that’s after hours so hopefully we will be ok walking back then...
my son lives there and has mentioned this September has been hotter than usual....ugh...we usually go in October but wanted to be down there for his birthday this year.
You should be fine that late, I'm sure. No matter what time, piece of advice. Stop by the little gas station pop stand on the left right before you exit and get cups of ice water to drink while you walk the lovely detour.

Where are these links at? We are thinking about getting some Hilton cards.
People will need to update their links - but you'll find them here.

https://www.reddit.com/r/DISchurners/comments/98u7i0/official_amex_referral_thread/

Currently I show 4 offers of interest available:
  • AMEX Hilton Honors - 100,000 Hilton pts. after spending $1,000 within 3 months
  • AMEX Hilton Honors Ascend - 150,000 Hilton pts. after spending $3,000 within 3 months
  • AMEX Hilton Honors Aspire - offer 1 - 150,000 Hilton pts. after spending $4,000 within 3 months
  • AMEX Hilton Honors Aspire - offer2 - 100,000 Hilton pts. PLUS a free weekend night after spending $4,000
EDIT: There's also a Biz Card offer but I can't generate a link for that so I'm unsure what it is. :) (looks like it's 125k maybe...)

EDIT2: If you are using a support link, make sure it's for the best offer. Not all the links are updated and AMEX probably won't match you if you use a link for a lower offer.

Awesome sauce, it has a 03/10/2020 expiration date. :cloud9:
I don't feel like I have to rush now as long as my DIS friends keep the links up :) This is an awesome fallback bonus if it doesn't go higher when I'm finally ready in a few months.

Depends on your goals. How much do you value the versatility of URs? There unfortunately is no MR portal equivalent to Chase's UR portal. Also, there are no hotel transfers. But MRs are good for flights, and direct redemption into Schwab.

If you consider 4x MR back on restaurants with the PRG, and redeem at 1.25cpp into Schwab, that's a 5% return. You'd be hard pressed to find something better than that, except maybe the Uber card (4% dining) because it doesn't have an annual fee.

@disneymagicgirl - that’s not technically true. Amex has the Amex Travel portal where you can redeem points for air and hotels, but it’s more complicated to understand MR redemptions than UR points on the UR portal. MRs also transfer to Hilton at 1:1.5 (terrible), and I believe the Choice budget hotels?

ETA: @tink1970 corrected me -- SPG/Marriott 1000:1000 (so 1:1) also.

Thank you @Judique @striker1064 @wendow. This just seems so overwhelming. I just sent our guide an email asking about Beach Club or Boardwalk since we prefer that area. I’ll see what he says.

We’ve stayed both and much prefer Beach Club Vilas. We have found that parking at BCV makes for an easier experience during our stay compared to Boardwalk. BCV is also a closer walk to Epcot. I also like knowing that I don’t have to deal with different point values for each view/location. Stormalong Bay pool is way cooler than the pool Stephen King built. If you check resales you will find that BCV is almost always has a higher asking price compared to BWV. We bought 3 resale contracts via resale for BCV a few years ago and could easily sell them all for more than we paid right now.

For Chase’s Ink business cards, you need to be under 5/24 to qualify, but they won’t add to your 5/24 count because they don’t show up on your personal credit reports. You can’t apply for two Ink cards on the same day. Chase has a 0/30 rule (sometimes called 1/30) for business cards that says you can’t have made any other Chase applications in the past 30 days (and thus, Chase will approve you for only one business card in a 30 day period). That doesn’t mean you can apply for a Chase business card every 31 days. There’s a high likelihood you’ll get denied if you apply for a second Chase business card only one month after getting your first. It’s recommended to space out Chase apps between 2-3 months to avoid the risk of denial or shutdown (for hitting Chase too hard, too fast).

Thank you! Always something new to learn! I didn't know about the 1/30 business rule. I'll just do one and then a month or two from now do the other before moving on to maybe the Barclay card to use toward AirBNBs. I'll probably get the hubby a Barclay card now so we can use it towards the deposit on the AirBNBs. May focus on bank bonuses and redemption offers starting the 1st of the year again...

That link shows me a blank web page.
