We're finally heading to DL/DCA next month after being away for a couple years. What are your "not to be missed" foods in the parks? The girls have already insisted we have to try the Grey Stuff at the Red Rose Taverne. We'll be there during the last days of Pixar Fest, so any of those treats can be included, too.

My list

Disneyland
- Churro
- Dole Whip
- Bengal BBQ kabob (your choice)
- Monte Cristo
- Eating at the Blue Bayou, food is pretty good as well. Highly recommend booking them for the Fantasmic dining
- Plaza Inn Chicken Plate
- Corn Dog

Disney California Adventure
- Lemon Parfait at Pixar Pier
- Chicken at Pixar Pier

Disney Hotels and Downtown Disney
- Trader Sams at the Disneyland Hotel. Fried Green Beans and Flatbread
- Steakhouse 55 dinner is good but breakfast is surprisingly great
- Napa Rose, best food in all of the Disneyland Resort
- Jazz Kitchen at Downtown Disney, ask for the music area to have your meal

ME

Our favorites are:

Disneyland:
-Skewers and jungle julep from Bengal Barbeque
- Corn dogs from the Little Red Wagon
- Pommes frites from Cafe Orleans
- Tomato soup and grilled cheese, Matterhorn macaroon, and the raspberry Mickey macaron from Jolly Holiday
- Fried pickles and the large Mickey waffle from Carnation Cafe
- Specialty donuts from the donut cart in front of the castle
- Churros
- Dole whip

DCA:
- Lobster nachos and cocktails from Cove Bar (now Lamplight Lounge)
- Ice cream sundae at Ghiradelli
- Soup or salad in a bread bowl at Pacific Wharf
- Cream cheese pretzel and beer from the kiosks on the pier

Downtown Disney:
- Beignets from Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen Express (we don’t care for the Mickey ones in Disneyland)
- Starbucks coffee before entering the park in the morning
- Lox and bagel from La Brea

two new things I tried this year
Disneyland
1. Donuts - onsale at the cart at the Frontierland entrance on the Hub at Mainstreet. If you dont see them, as at the cart. I found the cart ay 1pm and when I asked was told to come back at 2.30pm. I had the lemon meringue donut, lemon jelly inside and a meringue frosting.
California Adventures
2. Bread Pudding at Pacific Wharf Cafe

Here are my must haves:
Breakfast at Flo's for the french toast
Lunch at Plaza Inn for the fried chicken
Dinner at Blue Bayou
churros
dole whip
corndog
Bengal BBQ for any of the skewers but I am a fan of the bacon wrapped asparagus
mint julep and beignets at the Mint Julep Bar
any sundae from Gibson Girl or Ghiridelli
English toffee from anywhere in the parks

At Disneyland I would get the pomme frites and Beignets at Cafe Orleans. The fried chicken at the Plaza Inn. A Dole Whip float and churos. And the street tacos at Rancho Del Zocalo.

At California Adventure I would get any kind of bread bowl at Pacific wharf and the chicken teriyaki at Lucky Fortune cookery. And I really like the pasta at Board Walk pizza and pasta. Also any kind of ice cream at Ghirardelli. They have a new lemon dole whip at the new Adorable Snowman place that looks great but I have not had it yet.

Bengal BBQ -bacon wrapped asparagus skewer and pork belly skewer
Plaza Inn -Fried chicken (although I'm starting to like the chicken at Flo's V8 Cafe better...)
Maurice's Treats/Cozy Cone- Cheddar Garlic Bagel Twist
Red Rose Tavern- Poutine
Corn Dog Castle-corndog or cheese stick
Adorable Snowman Treats- Lemon/blue raspberry parfait
Jack Jack Cookie (the big chocolate chip one)
Hollywood Land -Obviously Nachos at the food truck
Whitewater Snacks at GCH- Carnitas nachos
Schmoozies-whoop eye pie (pixar fest specific treat)
Jolly Holiday Bakery-Matterhorn Macaroon
Carnation Cafe-fried pickles and chocolate malt
Churros
Beignets at Ralph Brennans Jazz Kitchen Express

I used to love this. Unfortunately, the last time we got it, about a month ago, it had shrunk about 50%, and they changed the filling. It literally tasted like sugar and perfume. It was also thick and crumbly, like dried paste. It was absolutely disgusting. :(

My current summer faves:

DL:

Alien Pizza Planet - Nebula Noodle Salad (this is really my latest addiction!) The ginger-lime vinaigrette with the cold soba noodles and grilled chicked are so refreshing. I will say it had way too much edamame and mint leaves on Wednesday when I had it though....

Jolly Holiday Cafe - Strawberry and Goat Cheese Spinach Salad with Grilled Chicken - another delicious and refreshing option when it's hot

DCA:

Pacific Wharf Cafe - Tomato Bisque bread bowl

Adorable Snowman - Frosty Parfait - my kids didn't love the blue raspberry swirl, but I think it's really good and goes well with the lemon soft-serve

Jack Jack's Cookie Num Nums - my new in park go-to chocolate chip cookie since Ghirardelli did away with their colossal chocolate chip cookie

Ghirardelli - my kids are obsessed with their sundaes and ice cream, so we end up here a lot

DLH:

Tangaroa Terrace - Shrimp Tacos - again another refreshing option. I'm not a fan of heavy food; especially in the heat! I save room for my heavy treats!:rolleyes1

I really like the cold-brew coffee at Whitewater Snacks!

Wait...WWS has COLD BREW????

Tangaroa Terrace - Shrimp Tacos

...and Shrimp TACOS also?....holy crap, what rock have I been living under?

I gotta get out more!

Kinda simple, but one of my favorites things when not in a total junk food mood is the container of Mango Slices they have at a bunch of the market stands in both DCA and DL

Oh my....

Some of these I've had, some I've heard of, some I never knew existed. I think I'm going to gain 10 lbs on our trip! Hopefully all the walking will balance it out :p

We'll definitely have to hit up Plaza Inn for fried chicken - I keep hearing recommendations for it and I've never had it.

They have shrimp tacos at Rancho del Zocalo also. My MIL had them last month. I don't like shrimp but they looked good!
