Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Help me out, I'm a little confused by the remodeling of the YC ground level. My DH and I used to have a few glasses of wine from a place off the lobby (it was just a bar) and take them back to our room, does that still exist or is it something else now? Also, has the old gift shop turned into the new snack marketplace? If so, where did the gift shop go? Trying to get my bearings :) Thanks!

The Ale & Compass is off the lobby. It has both a bar & a sit down restaurant. They are still kind of separate areas tho, so you can still just get drinks. The whole gift shop area was remodeled. Half has the snack / quick service market & half is the gift shop. No separation, just a big area with 2 functions.

Edit to add: post 7 on page 1 has some pictures of the Ale & Compass lounge area.

Perfect, thank you for your quick response! :)

Having never stayed at BC or YC, I'm not familiar with Stormalong Bay. If the cabanas are indeed being added to the area highlighted in the picture, does that mean that the enitre sandy part of the pool would be closed? Or is that only a portion of the sandy beach area? I agree that it doesn't seem like that small area being closed would have a negative impact in our enjoyment of the pool.

Thank you for this.
Any chance the campfire will be scheduled nightly in the summer? We were going to go on the Monday we arrive in July:(

There's a chance, but I think it is slim. It has been more than a year since the campfires were daily, and in fact they were suspended for a time last summer due to wildfire threats from the draught.

We should be posting the July calendar during the first couple of days of July.

Can anyone be brutally honest with how small the chances are of getting a beach club “water/lagoon view” room with a view of the lake and with a full balcony? Am considering booking for my honeymoon but am nervous that it will be difficult to get these requests met :(

:welcome: to the thread, and congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

Let us know if you book a room at the Beach Club or Yacht Club as suggested below.

:goodvibes

About 50/50, to improve your odds try the Yacht Club which as almost 100% balconies / patios(1st floor).

Dave

What he said ^^^

Almost all of the rooms at the Yacht Club have rooms with full balconies or patios. Guests also report that the YC public areas tend to be mellower than the BC lobby area, which could be more conducive to a romantic honeymoon atmosphere.

::yes::

I've booked a garden view room with two queen beds at the Beach Club. I've been looking at older threads to try to figure out the best rooms to request, but many of the older threads are missing the photos since the various photo sites don't keep the photos up forever.

That said, can anyone here give me advice on the best rooms to request? I see a couple suggestions on touringplans. One garden view over there even shows the lake to the left. Would that mean that fireworks would be visible?

:welcome:

When is your trip?

I haven't read ahead to see responses, but I suspect you received answers similar to this one:

We generally do not recommend that you request a specific room or block of room numbers, but instead phrase your room request by describing the attributes you want in a room. Full balcony? Close to lobby? Close to EPCOT? Ground floor/lower floor/upper floor? Would you like to request a daybed?

I think there are 3 main "Garden Views" available at the Beach Club:

Overlooking the back entrance (lakeside) courtyard- these rooms are very convenient to the lobby/pool/transportation and offer spectacular people watching!

Volleyball court- these rooms are mid-way between the lobby and the "secret" entrance to EPCOT. A lot of these rooms offer sideways or peek-a-boo views of Crescent Lake

Woods close to EPCOT- Pretty much "trees" with possible views of the higher Illumination fireworks. Wicked close to EPCOT!

My personal request would be "Full balcony please, volleyball courtyard view if possible" If traveling with my two teen boys, I would add "Daybed room if possible"

::yes::

Page 1208

We are getting ready for a trip at the end of the month - staying at BCV (2 bedroom). I've seen lots of info on room requests and "views" but I don't see any of those options on the early check in page from Disney. How do you request a particular view (i.e. woods view or epcot view)?

:welcome: to the thread and posting on the DIS!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

:cool1:

As Wood Nymph explains, you or the DVC owner you booked with will need to make your view request by phone (or email?)

:thumbsup2

Hey all,

We ended up switching to YC from BC with the free dining offer. BC only had lagoon/pool view which cost too much for us (view isnt important to us). We ended up with a killer offer for GV at YC that was the same price(??) as the BC SV offer I had reserved back before rates increased.

@natebenma Could you motify our dates please? We will be there Aug 25-Sept 8 this year :)

We are looking forward to the newly renovated rooms and the balcony. We also have good ADRs around the resort. My wife and children have never been to WDW. Gramma and I were there in 2001. Never dreamt we would be able to stay at a deluxe with a deluxe dining plan :) We also got tickets to MNSSHP and DAH. I literally tear up with excitement when I think about it. :)

Got it! Will do!

:dogdance:

So I went on that other site that shows room numbers and some views. I know the BC does not have full balconies in all rooms, but when I put in BC CL garden view full balcony, it only shows 8 or 9 rooms and they all come up with a full balcony. I tried the same with small balcony and it shows none for BC CL GV. Does anyone know if this is reliable information? I would really like a full balcony. We do tend to sit outside in the mornings with our tea and coffee. Thanks for any help

:welcome: back!

When is your trip?

I just returned from a week at the Beach Club on April 24th. I was in room 2623 which is right above the Marketplace, it’s classified as a water/lagoon view room. If you go up the staircase from the lobby that goes above the Marketplace, the room is the first one on the right. The room has 2 double beds (I sleep on a queen and these were too short and narrow to be a queen), there was no day bed or sleeper chair. No ceiling fan but I was able to set the thermostat down to 65 so I slept pretty well. The mattresses were very very soft, I tried both sides of both mattresses and sank into both. There is a full balcony. There is a courtyard kind of around the corner to the right (which was being painted), looking straight ahead all you can see is grass and trees going down to the boardwalk. There is only a tiny sliver of water visible in the left lower corner above the boardwalk and this room should be classified as a garden view, IMO. I’m going to try to load some pictures, hopefully it’ll work.

Thank you so much for the details and pictures of your room!

we have you kids and staying in bc in august. im thinking a full balcony would be very useful if we put the kids to bed earlier than we go so can read etc. how likely is this request to be filled as i know tgere arent many garden view full balconies available

:welcome: to the forum!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

:cool1:

As others have indicated, about 50% of the rooms at the BC resort have full balconies. You should add "Full balcony, please" as your only room request for best chance of getting one.

::yes::

We are staying at YC for the first time, Sept. 9-15. Our first night we are staying at POP. I know Bell services will transfer our luggage. Just wondering what time the luggage will be transferred approximately. We have an ADR at 5:40 at 'Ohana. Thanks for all the great info in this thread. We are super excited to stay at YC.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the list.

Well I can finally say please add us to the Be Our Guest list.
Hubs and I will be at the Beach Club May 20-23 celebrating my birthday and our anniversary.

:welcome: back for your awesome celebration trip.

I'll add you to the list.

:woohoo:

4 days away from our first trip staying at the Yatch Club. Normally a GF guy but really impressed with the new room photos and being we will stay most of the time at Epcot this trip the YC was a clear choice. Very excited about this trip!

Sorry it took me so long to :welcome: you here that you are already back from your trip!

:cool2:

Quick update now that we are back from our first time staying at the YC. WOW

On checkin we where informed we received a "Magical Upgrade" (the first one we have ever received). We had booked a Garden view with 2 queen beds. We received a Lake View on the first floor. Room 1161 to be specific. The room was stunning and the view was wonderful. We made use of the patio a number of times to unwind and watch the world go by. The new upgrades to the YC rooms now have made them our fav on property!

These room upgrades are simply put where very smartly designed. So much space to put things away and hide the suitcases. The pillows where not my fav but they worked fine. And the shower... oh my. I need that shower at home lol. Only complaint we had was we normally turn the fan on for the AC to provide white noise, it keeps going to Auto it seems every hour. I have to say this remodel alone will bring us to YC more.

We used the pool far more than expected and truly loved it vs the other places we have stayed (including The Grand). We can see now why they had to go to the Magic Band system for letting people in. Only negative with the pool was a rude bartender who served everyone in front of us, then everyone seated, then went back to check on some seated guests, then one person who popped into a empty chair area before coming back to us some 15 min latter while being funny and nice to everyone. She gave us the "fine I will get your drink" attitude when we finally ordered our 3 drinks, then immediately back to being nice to everyone else. I have no idea why since it was my first time at the bar and did not say anything after she went on to help others after she stopped serving the line when I was next. *shrugs* Other pool bar tenders later on where great.

We enjoyed Ale & Compass Restaurant a lot. The Ale & Compass Lounge was also fun but due to a few conferences at the YC it was packed and loud.

All in all. The Grand will still be my special home away from home, but I think the Yacht Club will be my go to resort due to our love of Epcot.

Photo of room view on this tweet of mine: https://twitter.com/wiredforflight/status/996835876599746560

Oh and the lighting strike and fire alarm just added to the excitement lol

Thank you for the detailed review of your trip!

I'm glad the YC made a positive impression on you.

:thumbsup2

I was just reading through the first few pages of this thread (which has been super helpful and informative) and I noticed the Sunken Treasure drink pictures. Does anyone know if this is currently available at the Hurricane Hanna’s? There is a drink at Cove Bar in California Adventure called Neverland Tea that is my absolute favorite, and the Sunken Treasure seems very similar.

Good morning! Can you add us to the Be Our Guest list for Nov 16-23? My family of 5 will be celebrating Thanksgiving at BCV!

I cannot wait for my kids to see this pool. It will blow their minds! Thanks for all of the helpful information on here.

:welcome:

Will do!

:cool1:

I am booked for a Lagoon/Pool View at the Beach Club for October for 10 nights. I would prefer the yacht club since I like the lagoon/pool views better from that side and we would be guaranteed a full balcony but there are none available. I can get a garden/wood view only at yacht for my dates.

For the beach club pool/lagoon view are they nice? I would want a full balcony and no dormer ceilings. I have the touring plans account and I cant seem to figure out where the rooms would be located. Can anyone recommend a room number so I can do a search. Would want the daybed too since we have a 3 year old. THank you!

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

Not sure how to find the info about whether there is a room that meets your criteria.

I recommend that you keep checking to see if a WV room becomes available at the Yacht Club so that you don't have to worry about getting the full balcony. Personally, I would even switch to a garden view there if available since view is not as important to me as the full balcony is, but your priorities may be different.

:)

Mixing it up a bit in 2019 with a 4/4 - 4/9 trip to the BCVs to run the Star Wars 1/2 marathon and for the Flower & Garden festival! I'm not sure if the 1/2 marathon is an excuse to go for F&G or vice versa? :tiptoe:

:welcome: back, again!

Nothing wrong with mixing it up a bit.

You say Tatoonie, I say tulip. You say daffodil, I say Death Star. Doesn't matter which comes first.

:darth: :flower1:

We stayed at the YC for the first time 4/28-5/4 after 15+ stays at the BC. We boarded our dogs at Best Friends for the first time and wanted to be at a dog friendly hotel just in case they didn't do good (it was their first ever boarding experience).

We booked CL standard view and requested a room with a king bed. We got room 5227 and it had an awesome view. I'm not sure if we got upgraded to water/Lagoon View or if this is still considered SV since there was some rooftop right under us.

Hubby and I are torn on which one we like better. I'm sort of leaning toward the YC because it seems to be less busy overall. Plus I like how it's the first stop on the bus between the two. Hubby likes BC because it feels more relaxed and laid back. I still think the YC was the better choice for our honeymoon.. especially once we walked over to the BC and encountered multiple screaming children in the lobby :rotfl: Regardless, the BC will always hold a special place in my heart since I basically grew up there. We've spent close to a full year there when you add up all of our family trips over the last 15 years.

Hopefully I'll be returning to the BC with my parents this November for my first Christmas time trip in 4 years :cool1: Hubby can only take so much time off from work in one year, but luckily he doesn't care how often I go :p

Thanks for your detailed review.

Did you get your requested King bed?

I don't know if it is currently on the menu (it was last time I saw the bar menu), but even when it wasn't available, it was available! Most of the bartenders at Hurricane Hanna's have been there for awhile, and know how to make one. And some of us carry around a menu card, just in case they need a refresher on the ingredients.

Enjoy!!!

This!

I always ask for a Sunken Treasure, and it always tastes the same at HH's. One Bar Tender said to me 'You know that's not on the menu anymore right?'

We're due to stay at AKL (BC was really expensive at the time of booking) in November/December, but not their Pool is out of action, and we had a Pool View Room our TA is working with Disney to get us moved to another Deluxe, fingers crossed for BC!!

I was originally supposed to be staying at AKL as well and we were able to move to beach club or yacht club, we chose beach. I hope you have the same great luck we did! I’ve always wanted to stay there!

Page 1211

Hello! I just made the switch to stay at BC from AKL and had a few questions to ask.

I read in the FAQ that its basically a 50/50 chance on getting a full balcony at BC. one of the reasons why we stay at deluxes is for the balconies so the idea of not having one is stressing me out. We have a garden/wood view room and was wondering if anyone who stayed in that view before had a difficult time getting a full balcony?

Also what are some top favorites as far a food? I'm struggling to figure out what places I should check out.

How would one recommend touring epcot from BC? usually we knock out future world first thing in the morning but now that we would be going through IG I think it would be a pain to do that, unless we drive to the front gate? (which seems silly honestly)

and Lastly what is it like on the boardwalk at night? there are a few places Im interested in checking out.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15. September?

Correct, about half of the rooms at the Beach Club have full balconies, and the rest do not. Your best bet for a full balcony is to make that your only room request. "Full balcony, please". Or if you are willing and able, switch to the Yacht Club.

My favorite place to eat when I have a stay at the Yacht or Beach Club is in EPCOT, especially at one of the countries where I can get food that isn't readily available where I live - it is just 10-15 minute walk to most of them.

:cool1:

I need that Sunken Treasure drink, like, yesterday. Gonna have to grab one in September, hopefully!

Cheers and :welcome:

Are you staying at the Yacht or Beach Club in September?

:drinking1

We have been enjoying this thread and appreciating the info. I especially appreciated the room views. I have been to Disney many times in the past few years but haven't stayed at YC in about 20 years! Looking forward to our stay from 5/27 to 5/31. Can you please add us to the list? Thanks!

Will do!

Thank you for the information, Dave! Unfortunately, we will be at YC the first week of June. I guess we'll be walking to/from DHS!

There will be a bus to take you from the Yacht club to Hollywood studios when the boats are not in service. My guess is it is a very short ride

Coming out from lurking to say hi! We're staying at BC from Dec 7-14. We've never been to BC and are super excited! We have a water view booked because it was all that was available. I'm trying to figure out what area is the quietest and darkest (I read a thread somewhere about the pool lights being very bright at night). I think Touring Plans room data is out of date and not complete so that isn't helping me much. I'm thinking a Lake view would be better than a pool view, so I may request that.

We're really looking forward to swimming, hopefully the Dec weather will cooperate!

If you get a great room tell them to pass it on to us - we arrive the 14th. :earsboy:
