So it looks like Be Our Guest is becoming Prix Fixe Meal and 2TS credits...thoughts?

We had said that BOG was one and done for us due to the food. The new menu looks great and I think the price is fair compared to other restaurants at Disney. My daughter (12) is very excited by the seafood dishes so if the reviews on the food are good we'll be sure to go in December.

So every place should be chicken nuggets, pizza and hot dogs??

My son can be considered “picky” but that’s because he’s used to eating typical Puerto Rican food. Lots of American food he doesn’t care for but he eats things I’m sure lots of kids would never touch. My daughter loves to try new foods. The typical Kids food gets old really fast when we’re on vacation. DD12 will most likely stick to adult menu next trip for the variety.

I love that Disney tries to be a bit more “exotic” at some places. Every place doesn’t have to be boring. The only two places in MK that aren’t what some consider “kid friendly” are skippers canteen and now maybe BOG since we won’t lnow until we see the menu.

100% agree!

Kinda sums up the issue. Skipper's Canteen is the only 'foodie' restaurant in MK and thanks to demand Disney is moving their focus to top 10% income families.
Given that a frankfurter on it's own costs about 10 bucks at Disney World. Moving that hot dog up to a more substantive meal would require at least another 10-15 dollars. There are just no inexpensive meals at Disney.

This sounds very unappealing to me. I didn't like the restaurant's food before and I doubt that that will change.

I currently have lunch reservations at Be Our Guest, using 1 credit per person, on Monday, July 16.

Will this announcement affect me at all?

Okay, thanks.

I wasn't aware that some restaurants could require two credits for dinner but only one for lunch.

I thought that all of the "Signature Restaurants" were always two credits, regardless of the time of day.

Some people are offended if a restaurant charges high prices for food that's very different from what they usually eat and out of their comfort zone. Others of us are offended by restaurants that charge high prices for the same comfort food we can eat anywhere else. Show me a restaurant that tries to please everybody and I'll show you one that pleases almost nobody.
They've already made Akershus a difficult choice for some families due to the food options, and it seems like they are doing the same here.
In Akershus' defense, it is in the WP and reasonable to expect that they'd serve Norwegian cuisine without overly Americanizing it - all those princesses notwithstanding.

I wonder how long it will be until lunch becomes an overpriced TS?
Disney is expensive. Dining at WDW doesn't have to be. You can eat at many restaurants in WDW for around the same as any place outside of the Disney bubble. The beauty of it all is WDW does not require anyone to eat at a specific restaurant.

Of course WDW doesn't *require* anyone to dine at any particular restaurant. However, it's not out of the realm of possibility that BOG will turn into a TS for lunch...and that would not make this Mama happy.

I think it would be great if they did turn it into all TS. But for breakfast and lunch 1 credit and a more broad menu along with the Beast meet and photo. That would stop all the ADR cupcake meals which would open it up for more families to have a meal in the castle.

Ahh, see that's the point though. By having the princesses there, they are clearly marketing the restaurant for kids. I feel the same holds true for BOG. Although it's not an actual character meal, you still can meet a character, it's in a castle from an iconic kids movie, and has various decor that will appeal to kids (talking suits of armor, enchanted rose, snowfall through the windows, large music box, etc). All of this seems to indicate that it was built with kids in mind. These changes seem to show that they are wanting to get away from that and make it more of an adult experience.

I know with Belle next door at Enchanted she can’t appear at BoG, but maybe they could have some new B&B characters there to make it more worth the 2 TS points...maybe Belles father or Gaston or something, then it may be more worth it
