I love credit cards so much!

I got a letter from Disney Chase to upgrade to the Premier card and one of the offers is to redeem for a statement credit toward airline travel. Has anyone had this and done it? Was it easy or did you have jump through lots of hoops. Is it for just one ticket or if I bought 3 at once would I get the full credit? I can't find much to help explain it on the letter or website.

Unless they gave you a specific offer to upgrade then the statement credit would be dependent on the points you have already earned.

From the website:

  • Make sure you have at least 50 Disney Rewards Dollars in your account. Do not transfer your Disney Rewards Dollars to a Disney Rewards Redemption Card. Disney Rewards Dollars will be deducted directly from your account.
  • 2.Purchase your airline tickets on any airline to any destination using your Disney Premier Visa Card.
  • 3.Within 60 days of purchasing your tickets, you can go online to redeem your Disney Rewards Dollars for a credit on your monthly statement.

Simply log in to your Chase.com account and click the "Redeem Rewards Dollars" link on the Rewards Dollars Details page. On the next page, select "Airline Statement Credit" either from the menu on the left side of the page under "Use Rewards Dollars", or from the top navigation menu. You can also redeem by phone—call 1-800-300-8575. Each Disney Rewards Dollar can be redeemed for a $1 credit on your monthly statement.

  • 4.Your credit will appear on your monthly statement from Chase within 1-2 billing cycles.

Ok so with all the talk of fraud, I checked my Equifax credit report (planning to do one every 4 months). There are only 2 hard inquiries, both related to our mortgage 2 years ago. There are u number of soft inquiries, none of them Chase, of which I have 3. Is that because Chase uses a different credit bureau? Or will all hard pulls show with all 3 credit bureaus?
All of my Chase cc's have been on TU. When I was in IL and now in MI also, except my new mtg.

Is there any way to know when Southwest will offer the 50K points sign on bonus? We want to travel in November so I don't want to wait too long to apply.

No idea, but I'm looking for the same bonus. If you don't have Chase Sapphire, you can transfer points to Southwest & current sign up bonus for Sapphire Preferred is 50k points

My wife and I just recently got into this game. She has had a Freedom for some time but we never really maximized it. We recently paid out lr house off and we are easily in a position to pay balances off at the end of the month.

We each got Chase Sapphire Reserve last winter and hit the minimum spend for the 100,000 bonus. Right after the first of the year, we each got a Southwest Card for 50,000. We had some home remodeling so the spends were easy. We wanted the Companion pass, so she signed up for a Marriot in Feb and got it met in time to transfer those over before you couldn't. We covered the other by using Southwest for hotels with bonus points but paid with the CSR and got 3x points as well for spring break to fill in her gap and we have it. I'm going to get mine after this summer's 2 week vacation by doing the same, booking via Southwest but paying with CSR. So by August we'll both have out companion pass for the rest of 2017 and all of 2018. Our kids are flying for free, Yea! We also took advantage of the 5x points on the Freedom for the first quarter and also we got most of the 10x back on the month long travel and hotels promo. In six months rime we have racked up over 350,000 points and that's after using points to book our plane tix to Baltimore for our 2 weeks in the DC area in June.

I have gotten the Marriott promo for a 100,000 but didn't pull the trigger yet and I just got the 70,000 point offer from United I think I'm going to pull the trigger on. We have a trip to Europe planned for 2019 and that will help on redeeming for the flight.

We have also convince some family members to sign up with Southwest and got the referral bonuses.

btw, if you can also get the BUSINESS card that also offers 50,000 points, but you need to be able to justify that you have some business...even some etsy shop kind of business would work, i thi k. in which case you'd have 100,000 points and after the min purchases it would be lile 104k....only 6k away from having a companion pass for 1 year+

Ugh - I got the denial letter from Chase. All because I didn't wait just another FOUR DAYS before applying for the CIP. Seriously. I am such a planner, and this was POOR PLANNING.

So now I am bucking up to call recon for the first time and plead my case. Cracking knuckles, deep lunges...here we go....

So, we have a Disney cruise booked for spring break 2018, a three day cruise to the Bahamas. It's our first cruise. I paid the deposits via my CSR. Yes, deposits. We have two connecting rooms my Mother is tagging along so the kids can stay in her room, isn't that sweetpirate: Sam's sells the Disney gift cards at a slight discount and typically the Freedom has membership clubs as a 5% bonus at some point in the year. So I was going to buy the amount needed using my and my wifes's Freedoms to pay the balance in Jan. I would also get cash back from Sam's via my membership type.

So, my question is, Does Disney Cruises accept the gift cards as payment, I know they take them on board. I 'm double checking. Also, is there another way to maximize any savings for a cruise?

We pay with gift cards deposited in a Disney vacation account. I earn an extra $20/$1,000 spent.

So, if the cruise is already booked but I can still set up the Disney Vacation Acount 120 days before I pay the balance and deposit the gift cards in it, I'll get the 2% back on gift cards?

Yes, as PP stated, in increments of $1000. More ($1001-1999) will still net you $20, less will net you 0, $2000 will see a $40, etc.. Also don't be like me and get so excited about paying something off that you MESS UP and use a DVA less than 120 days old. Yep, guilty. $140 I won't see. Argh... I've put a date on my calendar for the next pay off to remind myself NOT TO PAY EARLY. Gak.

I'm fairly sure I'm a perfect example of What Not To Do for most of these discussions :)

Just to clarify...you just have to have the account opened 120 days right? There doesn't need to be the $1000 in it for the 120? I opened one in January with $100 but haven't put in anything in since then. Thanks!

Correct. The account just needs to be open for 120 days in order to be eligible for the bonus.
