So if "check in" was 7...$149/5 hours is $30 per hour
9 to 9 is $135/12 hours $11.25 an hour.
Two things:
1. You'll have to explain the appeal...I still don't see it not as a ripoff
2. I had Chicago math...so I'm not too good with numbers.
There is no legitimate defense for this. There are "defenses"...but I can hear the same ones as always rattling around in my head and they aren't legitimate...
Ps...I actually thought you could get in at 4...and it still is egregious if it were That.
I really have no horse in this race, but usually when I see something new like this, I like to consider.
1. Who is benefiting from this change? (the answer is usually "rich people", lol)
2. Is that person me?
3. Can I change my vacation plans so I can benefit from this change?
I can say without a doubt this particular change does not benefit me. Lugging a 4 y/o and 2 y/o around MK at 1 AM is not my cup of tea.
That being said, there are always "defenses" as you say, as you can always find someone who would find value in something like this. Whether they are legitimate and ethical, or whether enough people will find value, I leave that for others to decide.
Assumptions:
1. 1 day MK regular ticket = $110, After Hours Party ticket = $149, 1 day Epcot ticket = $102, 2 day (non-park hopper) pass = $202
2. hotel room $200 per night
3. 2 adults in my party
4. I want to see both MK and Epcot
5. I have the energy to roll through the parks for 17 hours straight
Option 1
- Buy Epcot Ticket, go during the day = $102 x 2 = $204
- buy After Hours Party ticket, leave Epcot at 6 PM and get to MK at 7 PM = $149 x 2 = $298
- hotel room x 1 night = $200
Total = $702
Option 2
- Buy 2 day non-park hopper pass = $202 x 2 = $404
- go to Epcot on day 1 then MK day 2
- hotel room x 2 nights = $400
Total = $800
In this particular case, there is a potential for someone to benefit, depending on your travel habits. This doesn't take into account other non-financial factors of course, but I think would be some positives and negatives on both sides.
