Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Hi all!! Winding down from a very long day. Checked into the YC this morning around 11am and room was ready. We have a GV room on the second floor overlooking the quiet pool. Room is a little worn looking but still nice. There is construction going on in the front of the building where Magical Express would normally drop you off. All busses now dropping off and picking up at the convention center. I see what you mean about the long winding hallways, it took awhile to get to our room. Ate dinner at the Crews Cup lounge which was very good. We really like the resort so far. Looking forward to trying out Stormalong Bay. Good Night!!

Bob and I ate at Captain's Grill tonight with friends. Some storm tonight, wasn't it?

Work is done! Finished belt testing and broke my board with the first kick. Didn't embarrass myself at all. Bonus! Still haven't packed, but we have all day for that, since I'm not planning to spend a lot of quality time around BWI tomorrow.
I even remembered to call TSA Cares to (hopefully) have things squared when I show up with Thing #4 and ask to go directly to the pat down (she has a pacemaker). I had to check the TSA website to see if I could take a crochet hook on the flight. Best guess is probably, but maybe take a self-addressed stamped envelope just in case they want to confiscate it. I'll just carry a plastic one. Honestly, the most dangerous thing I'm bringing on that plane is my toddler. And that's no joke.

pas130 - glad you got such an amazing view. Have a wonderful trip. I love reading the updates as folks are checking in!

This is what Teena was talking about: "The lobby was like the old lobby of the BC (when it was all wicker furniture). People were commenting on how it looked like the Congress Hall and I responded that next to the Congress Hall use to be the Windsor and that's what I think it was modeled after."

Safe travels! If I thought you could get a tomato through security, I would meet you close to BWI and have you bring a couple from my garden to Teena!

Hoping I still have a few tomatoes left in two weeks to bring to her! I do need to check the security regulations on those!

Have a great trip!

Oh yes you can. A guest brought me a few two weeks ago. That night for dinner I had a tomato appetizer, a tomato main course and a tomato dessert!!!!

Yum! Good information. We have had a bumper crop this year from our little garden. However, they are slowing down and hoping there will still be a few tomatoes in 2 weeks to bring down with your Tastykakes!

1. Our last 4 trips we have flown Southwest. On departure morning our boarding passes with check in confirmation have been printed and slipped under our door with our final bill/receipt.

That would be great, but depending on that might be stressful.

If you paid for EB, you don't have to worry about checking in at T-24 for your boarding number/pass. I have always picked up my Southwest boarding pass at the resort airline check-in counter, which is located outside the front entrance at the BC. They close promptly at 1:00 p.m. daily. Sorry, I don't know where it's located at YC. You can get the BP at the desk whether or not you are checking your bags there; just make sure to have your confirmation number and legal picture I.D. for each passenger getting a BP.

As for the gummy bears, the TSA website says they are allowable in your carry-on; I would print the page and carry it with you, as not all TSOs are familiar with all of the rules and regulations.

I have heard that some food items, which are extremely dense, look the same as explosives, when scanned. Those include large pieces of cheese and chocolate.

The TSA site will allow you to search for many different items to see if they are allowable as carry-ons.

Have a great trip!

Thank you kindly for the info and link!

We always fly Southwest and remembering to check in 24 hours ahead of time has been a real pain. On our February trip with the grandchildren I completely forgot to do it until later that night. When I finally remembered to log into the SWA app on my iPhone we ended up with just about the last boarding number. There were only 12 people who got on behind us and I pictured my grandchildren sitting in middle seats all by themselves. Fortunately our son got a seat next to one boy and DH got a seat next to another. I got a window seat in the front of the plane and I was in heaven, but that was another story. ;)

Even since then I have been purchasing the early bird check in for the return trip only. I truly hate spending the extra money but I also hate the back of the plane. I don't do it for the trip down, though.

If I were traveling alone or with adults, I would not buy early bird. I find it a must when traveling with my kids. I totally agree that automatic head of line for cattle herding on the return trip is worth the money.

You don't have to go to the RAC desk if all you need is a boarding pass printed. You can ask at the concierge desk at a hotel or aat Guest Relations in a theme park. You probably will need your confirmation number.

Great info. We have bags to check. One suitcase of shoes and one suitcase of room items/food snacks/medicines/toiletries, so far. There are still two days left for packing and I estimate at least one more checked bag for each of the four of us. Not only is this trip filled with all females, we have some special needs for amenities. I can't use community laundry machines that might have Tide residue.

I did this for our trip in both directions because I was worried I would forget too. Not sure if it is worth the $$ but at least I have peace of mind that I did all I can :)

Piece of mind was worth my fees paid. : o )

Hi Everyone!

Haven't posted in ages but I have been following along and living vicariously through everyone's recent trips...We are leaving for the BC in just 5 days, woohoo! It's our 25th Anniversary trip, but we are taking our 22 and 24 year old daughter and son with us. We actually spent our Honeymoon at the "new" Caribbean Beach  25 years ago. We have been to Disney several times in the past couple of years and just can't seem to tear ourselves away from the Beach Club...it's our Disney "home", and we can't wait for next week to get back there! With the kids of "drinking age", it's great to be close to Epcot and the Boardwalk..funny how your Disney priorities change over the years, lol!

We booked a standard view with the Magical Deal, so I will try to report on our room and view when we check in......Just needed to chime in and share in everyone's excitement, especially with all of my fellow Massachusetts neighbors!

We will be checking in to the BC in 41 days celebrating our 31st anniversary. We honeymooned at the Poly!

I think you will totally enjoy Disney with your adult children. Back in 2009 we went with all 3 of our adult children and their SO's. It has become a yearly F&W visit since. Not all of them can afford to go (SO's aren't disney lovers:confused3:eek:) every year but our oldest and her husband have definitely drunk the koolaid!:earseek:

I love our adult trips! Have a wonderful time!

I checked in for our flight and we are in boarding group A. Glad I paid for the early bird check in. Now I just have to pack and drive to Baltimore!

Sadly I will need to be removed from the Be Our Guest list, I moved my April stay to BWV. I didn't want to have to hope for one of the handful of refurbed rooms. Good news for others though, with my luck, by moving resorts I have guaranteed the refurb will start and be 90% done by the end of April lol. But if there is a great sale I hope to switch back to a regular room at BC.

I'm back! But not better than ever...

We had a fabulous trip to Yellowstone. We saw a lot of amazing wildlife and so much incredible scenery. Unfortunately, we also saw a lot of stupid human tricks, including, but not limited to: attempts to take buffalo selfies, parents letting young kids play near active steam vents and people going over guardrails at waterfalls to take pictures.

:sad2:

We got home late Wednesday night and I spent Thursday night and most of Friday at a local hospital. I experienced shortness of breath on the last couple of days of our trip, which I attributed to the altitude (I live at sea level and we were between 6,600 and 9,000 feet in the park). When it didn't clear up on our first day back and I couldn't walk and talk without wheezing, I went to the ER and was surprised to be admitted. They ran lots of cardiac tests and fortunately they all came out ok. Although my lungs seemed clear for most of those tests, the final diagnosis was infection, probably pneumonia. Not the welcome home I was looking forward to!

As most of you can probably imagine, being told that I have to take it easy is not a simple prescription for me! But so far I am following orders. On a positive note, and to keep this ON TOPIC, I don't have any restrictions on using the computer so I should be able to catch up and respond on the missed pages of this thread in the next couple of days.

:thumbsup2

No need to send along the get well wishes and orders to rest, rest, rest- I know you are thinking it, and I thank you! Or if you want, you can like this post and I will know you are sending along positive thoughts and prayers.

:goodvibes
