I need to find an indoor exercise. I'm somewhat coordinated and don't give a darn if I look like a fool, so I thought I might try Zumba.:) It's expensive though and I can't find it anywhere to try out first, so I thought I'd get some feedback here. Anyone have it?

Bottom west part of the mitten.:) It's a small town with no Zumba classes, so I'd have to buy a DVD or DVD set.

check out you tube, they sometimes have full classes on there and i know pinterest has some 30 to 50 min videos, also wii and xbox has games

Great ideas, thank you!

Does your town offer Jazzercise classes? Yes, I know you're probably thinking leotards and leg warmers, but its totally not like that anymore! My absolute favorite workout ever. Current music (a mix of pop, top 40, latin, and everything in between), and 60 minutes that include dance, strength training with weights and stretching. So fun! Jazzercise instructors lead the class a bit better than zumba does in my experience, so its easier to keep up with the class and make sure you don't injure yourself. If they don't have classes in your town they also sell DVDs I think.

Zumba is amazing! I have gone 3 times a week for the last 7 years except for right after I my DD! I have tried the DVD's and the Wii game but for me, I don't like them at all. The class experience is much better!! And don't worry about looking like a fool! Everyone does at first, but the more you go, the better you get! You learn the dances and then you can get a REALLY good workout! I love it!!!!!!!

I'm biased (as an instructor), but if you want to find a class, go to www.zumba.com and click the tab for FIND A CLASS. There are many class for $5 each, and a lot of instructors have packages where the price goes down to $3. And going on the website, you'll also see a lot of facilities that have it - and that can be a flat fee and unlimited classes. I know a lot fo people who go the dvd way 1st and then end up in classes. It's just so much fun. Good luck and have a blast!!!!!!

And feel free to message me, if you have any questions.

I have the Zumba 2 video game for Wii and love it(but I don't play it enough).

And I have taken an Aqua Zumba class at my gym, mainly because I'm not able to get there when the regular Zumba class is going on. But I also loved that.

Thanks for the helpful input everyone! I so wish there were classes offered in my town! :( I'm going to see if our video store has the wii game to rent. I'm excited! It sounds like you all really like it!

Enjoy you will have a blast. Warning though it is very addicting lol and it truly doesn;t feel like actual exersize. Yes you sweat a lot but it is so fun and goes by so fast

I was shocked at this post!! :hyper: You have VIDEO stores??? I don't think there are any left in NJ at all, except for porn stores .

(and I mean DVDs/video).

I wish I could try this exercise, I waited too long, now have arthritis in my feet and have to proceed with caution.

I love Zumba. Just went this morning and it was another great workout. I started by buying individual dvds off Ebay. I bought the step by step instructional workout, Rush, and Activate. I also have the Zumba 2 for the Wii. I still do these when I can't go to classes. Oh, I have the Exhilirate dvd off Ebay too but I haven't tried it yet.

I too have arthritis in my feet. I take it easy on certain moves and also proper fitting shoes is key!

Check your public library. Ours has lots of exercise dvds, including Zumba. :thumbsup2

Check your local community college too. There's many in my zumba class that are only registered to take it. There's even a great number of retirees that are registered just to play in the school orchestra. So it's not all about learning.

My instructor teaches two classes, two days a week each. One class is straight zumba, the other is zumba/cardio with weights. There's many that are signed up for just one, and go to both (four days a week).

I am also a Zumba Instructor and I first want to say YOU WILL LOVE IT!! If there is absolutely no classes in your area, which I admit makes me sad, then I would suggest going to youtube first. You can google Zumba and there are an amazing assortment of routines on there. Some of the instructors have even posted a series of posts that would constitute as a class. I personally do not have any of my routines posted. The exhilarate dvd set sold directly from Zumba is also a great option and includes some "how to's" for the steps too. But I also have to say keep looking for local classes!!! I started with the DVD's too and once I went to a class I was hooked and couldnt go back to dancing in my living room after feeling the Zumba vibe and getting the Zumba High. Maybe searching using the next door towns zip code? GOOD LUCK! And as I tell my classes JUST KEEP MOVING AND SMILING!!!:cheer2:

The Exhilarate dvd set that you are talking about is sold at Bed, Bath and Beyond for 59.99 and if I remember correctly it comes with 4 dvd's. It's great because the first dvd is the easy to follow step-by-step instructions that helps you learn the steps quickly and you can move along at your own pace and then move onto the next dvd when you are ready. Hope this helps..

And for anyone with any kind of joint issues - Aqua Zumba and Zumba Gold are great ways to get your fix. Gold instructors are more aware of what moves shouldn't be done, or how to modify them, for certain joint issues. And really, how often do you get to be told to splash around in a pool?

Hello from the bottom west part of Michigan...otherwise known as South Bend suburbs.

My wife got into Zumba through the wii games and loved it. She's moved onto the DVD's. She's lost about 50 lbs in the last year or so. She's never done a class because she feels a bit too shy to do that. But she is doing the dvds 4-5 times a week.
