Your favourite Disney World moments & why.

I have quite a few defining WDW moments but this one is key.

Late 70s, DW and I move from the midwest to Miami. We're both Disney fans and we've each been to DLR twice (once as children and once as newlyweds). DW prods me to go to WDW because it's just a few hours up the highway, but I refuse believing that the Orlando park will just be a poor, cheap imitation of DLR. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Well about 30 seconds into the park (there was only MK at the time) I realize what a numbskull I'd been about the Florida park. We visited WDW many times during our few short years living in Miami and subsequently raised our twin DDs with regular trips even when we relocated to Kansas:eek:

This thread would be a better fit on the theme parks community board, so I'm going to move this there now.

:) In 2004 we had my FIL and DH's family go with us to WDW. My FIL had cancer and we knew it would be his last trip. We rented him a scooter and he had a blast. We were handling the scooter fine until he accidently bumped the table of china in England. Nothing happened but it was scary and we quickly left the store. After that, my BIL (6"2, 280#) and DH (5'9,250#) escorted him around the parks like a security detail with the sunglasses and serious looks. FIL's code name : Nemo. We will never forget having my BIL call DH from the gate, stating " Nemo has left the reef (bus), I repeat, Nemo has left the reef". We joined them so DH could pick up the detail with BIL and off they went. My DH got a picture of him, his brother and Dad in that mode on Sunset Blvd in DHS in 2004...from his Mom this year for his birthday. BIL has the photo too. I dont have a copy to post--but it is classic and our favorite memory. Nemo is very special to us.

Ha! Love this!!! Too bad you don't have a pic:cool2:

Thanks guys for continuing to share...there are some lovely memories.

We have just come back from two weeks in Ibiza...and it was nothing like America and Disney so it was nice to catch up.

Took me straight back to our last hols..2009 and we can't wait to come over again.

Take care and continue to share....

I invited two girlfriends from work to go with me. At the last minute, we invited a third friend, who had recently lost her dad and was having a very difficult time dealing with her family, etc.

I love her dearly, but she does tend to have a sour attitude at times (quite often), but she had a wonderful time there; never complained once about anything.

My favorite moment was on the last day, we were at the parade at MK, and when Goofy went by, she started waving at him wildly. He waved back and threw her a kiss!

She looked at me and said, " You're right, it really is real!" I couldn't believe it. We still laugh about it.

Very simple but a moment I'll never forget...holding my DD4 with our heads together watching Wishes on Main Street. Worth the whole price of the trip.

Makes the hairs stand on the back of your neck. I remember as a kid, the closing moments of disney cartoons - the castle. Then to see it in real life, and with the fireworks to!

While the MK Day parade was passing by my DS5 got all swept up and kept

repeating disney world, disney world! May not seem like much but he is

autistic and rarely verbal, it was a huge moment for dad.:thumbsup2

We saw a little girl, dressed as a princess, get her first glimpse of the castle while waiting for the monorail in the CR. Her squeals of "I see the castle! I see the castle!" brought tears to our eyes. My husband then looked out the window and got HIS first glimpse of the castle at 54 years old.

This WDW trip was during my sons 10th bday. He wanted to go ziplining for his bday gift, we were told that he didn't weigh enough. He had mentioned that parasailing looked fun the year before when we saw it from a ferry on Bay Lake. He was sooo disappointed about not zipping that I offered parasailing instead. It was very exp. but you only turn 10 once, right.

A picture is worth a thousand words, as well as every penny. He called it the best birthday ever.

My favorite memory (so far) was when I visited Epcot with my mother at fourteen years old. We went in December 2004, and it was unusually empty. Due to the lack of crowds, we were able to meet a lot of cast members and gain front row seats to virtually every show. It made my mom and I feel like we had the park to ourselves, and it was the first time I realized how close my mother and I are. I think spending twelve hours with just each other walking around and taking in the rich cultures helped shape our relationship, and to this day we still talk about sitting around listening to Off Kilter play for an hour.

Ohiodisney... what great photographs....like you say a picture says it all....have you seen the video at the start of the thread. This was the first time I had been on a roller coaster for 20 + years. A great thrill with my youngest and wife...

Hi Klick, we love BTM. Nice vid. We have gone every yr. since '05 and have met some wonderful people from the UK. Glad you started this thread.
