XXX Food Porn or Photographer’s view of DxDP-Updated 8/27

This was our first visit here and we were looking forward to it. This was a mere four hours after our lunch at Via Napoli and no one was really that hungry after such a great lunch. We were seated right away. The tables are very close together and it felt kind of cramped. Anyway our server brought us a couple of loafs of French bread.

WDW-Aug-11-pm-203-of-222-L.jpg

DD 16 ordered the Bisque de Homard - Lobster bisque. She thought it was good but not outstanding.
WDW-Aug-11-pm-205-of-222-L.jpg

DD10 does not like goat chees and ordered the Salade Maison - selected greens, house vinaigrette dressing.
WDW-Aug-11-pm-206-of-222-L.jpg

DW ordered the Salade de Chevre Chaud - Baked goat cheese with walnuts, fresh grapes, tomatoes, endives and arugula salad because she loves goat cheese. It was good but again nothing special.
WDW-Aug-11-pm-207-of-222-L.jpg

I had decided before we got here that I would order the Soupe a l'oignon Gratinee - the classic onion soup topped with Gruyere cheese. This really was good. Very rich and buttery. It definitely won appetizer of the night.
WDW-Aug-11-pm-208-of-222-L.jpg

DD10 did not like anything else on the menu so she went back to the Filet de boeuf grille, sauce au poivre vert Gratin Dauphinois et haricots verts - Grilled tenderloin of beef with green peppercorn sauce original potato gratin of Savoy and green beans. This was defininetly the best choice of the night. Not on par with any of the other steaks that we had during our stay but the best entree of the night.
WDW-Aug-11-pm-209-of-222-L.jpg

DD16 still was holding on to her quest of scallops around the world with the Trio de fruits de mer au bouillion de homard - sauteed scallops, mahi mahi, and black tiger shrimp served in a lobster broth with gnocchi. It was again OK but nothing special.
WDW-Aug-11-pm-210-of-222-L.jpg

DW could not find anything to her liking either and ordered the Demi poulet fermier roti, pommes rissolees et tomate grillee Half of an all-natural roasted chicken, rissole potatoes and grilled tomato. It was dry and the sauce was not what she expected from a French restaurant.
WDW-Aug-11-pm-212-of-222-L.jpg

I thought I would try the Plat de Cote de Boeuf au Cabarnet avec pates - Beef short ribs braised in Cabernet with pasta, pearl onions and mushrooms after reading so many people raving about them. But the meat too was dry and the sauce was not that special. We all wound up not finishing any of our meals that night after deciding no since stuffing ourselves with not so special food.
WDW-Aug-11-pm-213-of-222-L.jpg

DW wanted to get the desserts to go but I talked her into having there. I have to say that the desserts made up for the other dishes we had this evening. DD16 again had the Creme Brulee - Vanilla creme brulee served with a Madeleine. She thought is was good but not the best of the trip.
WDW-Aug-11-pm-216-of-222-L.jpg

DW was talked into having the Profiteroles au chocolat - Puff choux with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. It was very good.
WDW-Aug-11-pm-217-of-222-L.jpg

DD10 went with the Chocolate Cake. I don’t remember what type of chocolate cake it was but it was very good.
WDW-Aug-11-pm-220-of-222-L.jpg

I choose the Crepe a la pomme et cannelle, glace vanille, caramel jus de pommes - Crepes filled with cinnamon, apple, vanilla ice cream and apple caramel sauce. I should have just ordered the onion soup and this. I am a sucker for apples and caramel and this was simply delicious.
WDW-Aug-11-pm-221-of-222-L.jpg

DD16 has completed two years of French and reluctantly tried it out on our server with my prodding. They both immediately fell for our server Julien.

We unfortunately did not have a great dining experience here. We had to try it once but will not be on our list for any future trip.

Agreed. Worst restaurant in disney imo. Everything is so dry even though heavily sauced i am sure its done in the microwave.

This thread needs a WARNING: DO NOT READ THREAD ON AN EMPTY STOMACH. I'm sitting here drooling, and it's not pretty.

Well I assume we have let enough time go by to dry off those keyboards and screens. For all my friends on the East Coast who are weathering out the storm and still have power, I thought you might enjoy a little eye-candy.
We had never been to DTD before and read about the delectable treats at GCC. We have three candy stores that have some very good treats, but I have to admit GCC is on a much grander scale.

I will continue in the next post.

Your photos are unbelievable! I can't wait for my December trip.
As other have said, your daughters are beautiful. I hope my kiddos (currently toddlers!) are as adventurous as your kids at that age. I am especially impressed by the ten year old.

Thanks again! This definitely made my (very dark and stormy) night! :)

Thanks for the cheery, colorful, and delicious photos! Incredible comfort food (or I guess eye candy ) and perfect for the incoming storm.

Glad that it could offer some relief. We are sweltering out here with 110F temps and rain actually sounds good right now.

I think Roger (GoofyontheHiSeas) should team up with Disney Imagineers and develop a Lick-n-Smell app for computer screens! You've heard of Scratch-n-Sniff for perfumes so why not come up with something to go with these excellent pics? Just imagine being able to view the GREAT food porn in this thread and then be able to smell the aroma from such heavenly pics?! I would try for a Lick-n-Taste but Disney would never go for that as people might just sit at home and not visit the restaurants! :rotfl2:

Oh my goodness, I want to try every single one of those treats at Goofy's Candy Company. Your pictures are simply amazing and your reviews have been informative and fair. Great, great job!

Great thread. We have the DDP for 10 days and this will help influence our decisions on where to eat. Keep it up. I personally find this exciting.

Great reviews and beautiful pics! I always appreciate all the dis'ers that take time to put such lovely reviews together! :goodvibes

OH.MY.GOD! Wow, that is some awesome (and quite satisfying) food porn, so thank you!!

Your photos and reviews are outstanding!! Thank you so much for taking the time to post everything!!

And now we have to make time to go to Downtown Disney - I had never heard about the candy store - but how does one not spend $100 or more in there? Wow.

Thank you Thank you!!! Great pictures, and all so yummy looking...Just looking at Goofy's brings a smile to my face:)

I really think that it would influence even more people to eat at their restaurants. It would definitely pass the time until your next trip and low in calories.

Thank you all. Actually by the time we got to GCC it was day 8 and as much as everything looked so tasty, we only bought 4 snacks and wound up eating only 2. We have the advantage of going to DL almost once a month and try many of those selections. For some reason they don't except snack credits here.

And anyone that just wants to look at the pictures you can visit my entire gallery at Walt Disney World Food. You can see the original size pictures if you want to get up close and personal. Again thanks for stopping by.

What great reviews and the photos are unreal. I've never seen photos like this. It made me ridiculously hungry all day.
