We're too excited to sleep!

Well we just got back from a hot, humid, and pretty rainy trip to WDW. Having been a voyeur regarding all of this food porn for some time, I thought it would be fun to make some of my own.

Introductions:
Me (Meg) and DH (David): This is our 2nd trip to WDW. We are kid-free, wannabe foodies, and willing to try a wide variety of things.
Tweedle Dee: My 17 year old brother. He's too "cool" to be excited for Disney.
Tweedle Dum: My 15 year old brother. He watches ALOT of Disney channel, so I thought he would be super excited about the trip...but I guess he is at the age where impressing his big brother is more important.

David and I thought it would be fun to take my brothers down to WDW since they had never been on a real vacation before, and certainly had never been anywhere as awesome as WDW.

We knew going into this that my brothers were picky eaters. By picky, I mean they don't like food. As such, David and I took the easy way out and made many of our TS meals buffets, thinking that they would have more options. In some instances this plan worked out, and in others...well you'll see.

We stayed at AKL from July 27th - August 2nd and were on the DDP. Due to airline delays we didn't actually get to our hotel until 3 am on the 28th. We also left very late on the 2nd. So our eating days were Monday - Saturday. In addition to the DDP, we also ordered bottled water, sodas, chips, and breakfast goodies from Garden Grocer.

Here are the places we visited:

Monday: CS: Pecos Bill p. 1
Monday: TS: Hollywood & Vine (for the Fantasmic Dinner Package) p. 3
Tuesday: TS: Boma for breakfast (originally Chef Mickey's...details later) p. 4
Tuesday: TS: Tutto Italia p. 6
Wednesday: CS: Liberty Inn p. 8
Wednesday: TS: Boma for dinner p. 9
Thursday: Snacks from Starring Rolls p. 10
Thursday: CS: Pizza Planet p. 11
Thursday: TS: Raglan Road p. 12
Friday: CS: Cosmic Ray's p. 13
Friday: TS: 'Ohana Part I and Part II p. 14
Friday/Saturday: Snacks from Sleepy Hollow p. 15
Saturday: CS: The Mara
Saturday CS: Pizza Planet (the boys were on their own!!)
Saturday CS: Sunshine Seasons

I did my best to take pictures of everything, though I may have missed some stuff here and there (I am still trying to get all my photos sorted out). Hopefully you will all enjoy. :goodvibes

Oh and for those interested in budget information, the total cost of the DDP for 4 people for 6 nights was about $912. Total actually spent on QS, TS, and Snacks for that time was $1150....so the dining plan saved us $238.

First up....Lunch at Pecos Bills on Monday July 28th.

Before I begin, let me preface this by saying that we didn't get into the hotel until 3 am. Upon arrival, we were placed in a bunk bed room at AKL which was not what we had wanted. We had reserved 2 queen sized beds because tweedle dee and tweedle dum are quite tall. Add to that the fact that tweedle dum has recently started snoring, and well you can imagine how tired we were when we got to the MK at 9:20 am to begin our day.

OK...now on with the show. We had standard Pecos Bill fare. DH got a double bacon cheeseburger with fries, a soda, and carrot cake. Tweedle dum got the same except for dessert...he had a chocolate chip cookie. Tweedle dee and I both got the Chicken Wrap with fries and a soda. I had carrot cake for dessert and tweedle dee had a cookie.

The Chicken Wrap:

I don't know if it is possible for this wrap to be 1. any larger and 2. any more difficult to eat. You had to use a knife and fork in order to get into it.

The inside of the wrap consisted of chicken, shredded cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and ranch dressing. Tweedle dee did not like his at all and pretty much just ate his fries, cheese sauce, and cookie. I on the other hand thought it was pretty darn tasty ...but then again, I would each ranch like soup if it was socially acceptable.

DH liked the burger. Tweedle dum thought it was too big, ended up not eating one of the patties and only half of the other patty. He pretty much had the bacon, his fries with cheese sauce and his cookie. Too bad I couldn't just order him bacon for lunch.

All in all, not a bad meal. Thus far the boys have had 1 donut a piece (chocolate Entemans in the room...sorry no pics), french fries, a cookie, and liquid cheese. Perhaps if we had been more awake, things would have been better. But instead of taking a nap...we did the smart thing and pressed on. (What throw my plans out the window?!?!) Tune in tomorrow night to see how one bowl of ice cream can cost $24.99.

Great start on your review! :)

One thing though...is cheese sauce back on the fixin's bar at Pecos Bills or did you have to order it at the register? I know this has been changing on and off the last few years.

Love the title of your review and can't wait to read more!

I got a big giggle :rotfl: out of your comment that you would eat "ranch like soup if it was socially acceptable."

That was nice of you to take Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum on a vacation!

Yay... a new bunch of food porn.... I'm in....

Great Start... Looking Forward to more.... Bring it on!!

 popcorn::  popcorn::  popcorn::

I just gotta say I love your title - how clever you are to come up with that! :lmao:

I'm way in here.

OK...before I have to actually start doing work at my job, I thought I would answer a few questions.

One thing though...is cheese sauce back on the fixin's bar at Pecos Bills or did you have to order it at the register? I know this has been changing on and off the last few years.

The cheese sauce was back at the fixin's bar. I swear that cheese sauce is one of my favorite things! :worship:

they are now serving carrot cake?

Yes Virginia, there is a carrot cake. And it was tasty too. The cream cheese frosting leaves a little to be desired (it has a strange aftertaste) but the cake itself was light and fluffy.

Enjoyed reading your review. I have DD28 and DD21 that are picky eaters so I know what it is like. Looking for more revies.
