Homemade Holiday Presents! Lets help each other! Ideas WANTED!

You can cut contact paper with an exacto knife to use as a stencil instead of the cricut. Not as fast and easy but that is how we did it in "the olden days" before cricuts! LOL!

BUMP!

For my cousins this year, I'm etching them each a set of 4 shot glasses and filling them with skittles, candy canes, etc... and giving them a recipe for skittles vodka, candy cane vodka... and which other other candy I decide to include.

care to share the recipe??!! :worship:

This is what I did also back in the old days, lol. Worked just fine but it did take a bit longer.

I STILL am not lucky enough to own a Cricut machine (*sob*) and have some etching plans for Christmas gifts so I'll be doing the contact paper/exacto knife thing still now.

Two years ago I was inspired by Oprah's favorite things, so I made my sisters in law "Deborah's Favorite Things."

I bought things in bulk on ebay
Twirly towels or turban towels to put your hair in when you come out of the shower.
Shout wipes- love these!
Travel size Downy Wrinkle Releaser
Cute inexpensive silver pins
Travel size lip gloss

Put them all in small kraft paper shopping bags that I decorated with a paper label and Christmas theme clip art, that said "Deborah's favorite things.:cloud9:

AMAZING! I love this idea :)

One area where I manage to be a pretty savvy shopper is where it saves money to buy in bulk or from a vendor other than a traditional store. I buy some foods direct from farmers and some through a food coop. In fact I'm involved in more than one food coop. We also have a costco membership.
So a relatively small percentage of our budget is spent at the local super-mart.

I recently had the opportunity to buy unrefined and gourmet salts through one of my food coops and I really wanted to participate in this and try more than one type for myself. It didn't take long before I realized that these would be good items for gift baskets for family members who are foodies.

So this year I will be putting together gift baskets that will include some very nice gourmet salts. I just have to come up with how to package them and find a few more items to go in. The extra items are likely to be things like homemade fudge, homemade hot pepper jelly, a nice olive oil or even an assortment of two or three flavored oils.

I saw this idea on YouTube last year and flipped out! They mainly seem to be made for baby showers (as a favor for guests) or as a gift for the parents-to-be (using onesies and baby booties). My daughter and I have been making these for her friends anytime she has a birthday party to go. We recently presented my SIL with a cake stand full of cupcake washcloths for a housewarming gift and she loved it (Or she said she did ;)).

For the Cupcake Washcloths, we use an extra large washcloth (Walmart), a corsage (or other) pin to "hold" the "cupcake" in place, a jumbo-sized cupcake liner and a Dum-Dum lollipop or hard strawberry candy (in strawberry wrapper) for the "cherry" on top (you can also use a Herhsey's Kiss). You can package the washcloth in a cupcake box (baking section of craft stores; Walmart also has them in their baking section) or you can wrap it clear cellphone tied with a ribbon. Here a few pictures to give you an idea:

We plan on making some this year for Christmas gifts and we'll definitely be using Herhey's Kisses (the red ones) as the cherry. :)

I've made them using fluffy spa socks rolled up and secured with an elastic band and placed in a cupcake liner. I even made them for the teen girls for a Fish Exchange gift on our August cruise. My cherry was a lip balm that I had placed first and rolled with the socks. I then packaged them in a clear cellophane bag.

My DD wants to have a "spa party" for her birthday, and either the washcloth or spa sock cupcakes would be perfect favors. Thanks to all the posters who shared ideas, pics, and tutorials! :lovestruc

I found this idea and wanted to share :)

The 12 Dates of Christmas.... a play on the 12 days of Christmas, but it''s a collection of 12 Dates for you and your significant other to share over the coming year :)

Totally doing this for BF... May even consider prepaying all of the date ideas :)

I absolutely LOVE this idea.... too bad it's out of my budget. :( I could always do up a coupon book with date ideas for DH to pick from, we'd just have to provide the money at the time of the date (which is fine... we typically get out on a date night every 6 weeks or so anyways).
