I'm hoping to get a haircut for my 17mo DS. We have 10 am breakfast ressie at CRT on an early entry day. Does anyone know if the barber shop opens early on those days? Wondering if there's any chance we can get his hair cut and still make it to breakfast. That's one meal where I difinitely don't want to be late! Thanks
Anyone ever had a haircut there?

I suggest you try to get to the barber shop right at opening to see how long a wait you would have. I am so glad we got DD haircut, we waited the last day and really pushed our luck. We got her haircut, complete with 4 Mickey clips, the ears, pink coloring, green and blue coloring for each of my boys (for free), Mickey sprinkles on all 5 of us, the certificate, lock of hair, stickers, great photos with the singing quartet, and the barbers autograph....total cost $12!!!! Mind you we did give a nice tip! Well worth it and I still think the green hair helped my DS get picked for the Sword In the Stone show!!! Good Luck!

Is all the hoopla only for first haircuts? He's actually already had two. Wish I could have waited for Disney, but there was no way! (He came out looking like he needed a haircut). I'm not going to lie, but just wondering if it will be the same experience. :jester: :jester:

For the first haircut they give them the certificate and ears, but for any other cut you get all of the other hoopla. They have lots of stickers and the kids can get the different color gel put in, as well as confetti looking stuff if they want it.

My ds got his 1st haircut there last year and it was well worth it. Who knows, maybe he'll get a trim when we go back in October.

I really want to get DS 22mnths haircut when we go at the end of August. He has already had a couple haircut and the only thing that keeps him still and not crying was that the salon had a tv on with a VCR and we put in Toy Story. I am afraid to wait until we get there to get his haircut and then all he does is scream and squirm. I think if they had something to distract him he would be alright.

They have so many fun toys and things to distract the little ones and I am sure they have had amny antsy kids, I have little doubt that they would be prepared for anything. Give it a try, if nothing else I would bet that they would let you add some of the fun color to the lil ones hair and get a picture. I say go for it! The Hoopla is not just for first cuts, granted there is more for them but they made a HUGEEEE show out of cutting this 30 something mans hair and we all loved watching 'the show'.

What time does the barbershop open on regular days and EE mornings? Is the time different or the same? We want to have DS's first haircut there as well!

I am pretty sure that it opens at 9am all of the time. Get there as soon as the park opens. Since there was an article about it in the Disney Magazine, it has become very popular. Three years ago we walked up in the middle of the day, waited about 10 minutes and got DD her first haircut. Last December (second week) we had to go back three times. Every time we arrived it was full to capacity and the wait was forever. On our last morning, we went there first thing and there were two CM's ahead of us on line. We had to wait 45 minutes.

It was special to us, since Maura gave both of our girls their first cut, we have cute pictures and it was a special memory for me. (Talk about living thru the kids!;) ).

We live in FL and are AP holders so we come down once a month to get ds's hair cut as it's the only place my ds will cooperate -- he just turned 3;) Maura does such a great job and always has plenty of toys and bubbles and things on hand to keep him distracted. By the time she finishes cutting ds's hair and putting in the color gel and pixie dust confetti, ds has such a big grin on his face -- it's so totally worth it to us to drive all the way down for the day just because he needs a haircut LOL :)

The barber shop does open at 9am even on EE days and FYI -- Maura mentioned last time we were there that they cut their hours back a bit so if you will be stopping by in the afternoon for a haircut, she said she recommends getting there no later than 3:30-3:45pm to get in line as they now have to lock the door at 4pm in order to close up at 5pm sharp. (They used to lock the door at 5pm when they close and just stay until they were done).

HTH's;)

Yes;) they cut anyone's hair from 1st haircuts on up to Adults of any age -- dh gets his hair cut there too sometimes -- and sometimes even the pixie dust confetti too LOL:p

My 9 y/o daughter got her hair cut there just last week. Maura did a great job. We were thinking it might just be a quick trim but it was a full haircut. She braided it, put Mickey clips in it and Pixie Dusted both of us! The best part was that it was just $12! Bargain of the trip! My daughter had a huge grin on her face for 2 days! She loved it!

They close the doors at 4 pm but if you are there before they will take care of you. There are only 2 barbers in there but they cut a lot of hair! She told me they once did over 50 'first cuts' in 1 day plus other customers. Wow! They were both great with the tiny ones whose mom's didn't think they'd sit still!

What a great idea! I never thought to get my hair cut there. Where exactly is the barber shop? And, also, how much for an adult hair cut?

Maura gave my g'daughter her first haircut last summer ... and she was 5½ ... we had never cut her hair before.

Maura said she enjoyed giving Cissy her first haircut as she was old enough to enjoy the experience, and yes, Cissy got the First Haircut "ears", a certificiate and wrapped hair locks, plus a french braid across the front of her head, purple and pink gel to match her outfit and a sprinkling of "pixie dust" (Mickey confetti).

My 7 y.o. grandson wanted a buzz cut, but first Maura gave him this cool looking Mohawk ... colored it with red gel and sprinked pixie dust on top ... we got some great photos!!! Then she buzzed off the Mohawk, kind of rubbed color gel over Wm's head and painted a Mickey icon in red gel on his forehead ... we had dinner at Chef Mickey's that evening and Mickey got all excited when he saw Wm's MM icon!

There were 3-4 people in front of us so we had to wait about 45 minutes, but it was well worth the wait in spite of having to deal with antsy kids!

When you first enter the MK -- coming out from underneith the train station, City hall will be on your left hand side. In the left hand corner right next to the gift shop (which would be straight ahead) is the barber shop.;)

My son is 6 but he LOVES to get his haircut!! I think we'll give this a try! Thanks for the tip!!

yup, here's my son getting his done in january. he was 9 months.

we waited about 15 mins, and the 'dapper dans' were in the shop singing the whole time we were there! some other women castmembers came in as well and put on a 'show' with the dapper dans.

it was fantastic, we videotaped it and i get such a kick out of watching it.

I had my DS(10) hair cut there in February.
The barber was excellent. Here's a funny shot I took while he was cutting his hair.

After cutting his hair, Micheal put glow-in-the-dark gel in my son's hair and face. Here's what he looked like in Buzz Lightyear Ranger Spin afterwards.

When we go down at the end of the month I intend to have my son's hair cut there again.

Have Fun!
