First a Little Pomp & Circumstance, then a Whole Lot of Disney Dining! COMPLETE

Must...have...cinnamon...roll...from...Main...Street...bakery! I've never actually had one for breakfast, but I've always picked one up upon leaving MK for the day. Must continue this tradition.

Snack time for Ginamarie & family was at...

Main Street Confectionery

Gingerbread man, Mickey ear brownie, and Chocolate-covered pineapple spear

Ginamarie said, The pineapple was mine and it was so good! Fresh with a healthy layer of chocolate.
I did need a wet wipe afterwards because I was covered in pineapple juice, but it was worth it! :thumbsup2

Alice & Snow were at Animal Kingdom today, where they were supposed to have a late breakfast at...

Rainforest Cafe

Alice said, "So this morning we ate at RFC in the AK for breakfast. Or, as we were told when we checked in 3 minutes late..."you're really late so you'll have to order off the lunch menu". No worries, I wanted to anyhow!" ;)

image34.jpg

Cheese Sticks - Mozzarella sticks lightly breaded, fried golden brown and served with marinara sauce.

"Snow and I went "tried and true" for the app and each had cheese sticks. An order came with 8 sticks of cheesy goodness! With the exception of homemade mozzarella sticks, they all taste the same. These were the perfect temp, not too hot but the cheese was nicely melted."

image35.jpg

MoJo Bones - Slow-roasted, St. Louis style pork spareribs, basted with our Smokin’ Mojo BBQ sauce
and served with Safari fries and coleslaw

"For the main, I had the mojo bones (no coleslaw...I dislike it). These were saucy in a good way and the meat was fall off the bone. I didn't eat the fries, but tried one and they were meh. A little dry."

image36.jpg

Chicken Fried Chicken - Breaded chicken breast fried golden brown and served with red skinned garlic mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables and country gravy.

"Snow had the Chicken Fried Chicken. She really enjoyed this meal. The chicken is off the bone, so that made it easier to eat. She thought the gravy was off the hook, but wasn't impressed with the veggies, which were huge chunks of onion and some zucchini pieces."

And for dessert...

image37.jpg

Smoothies To-Go

"We were full (again) so we each got smoothies to go as our dessert. Snow got the Key West (strawberry and banana) and I got the Brazilian Freeze for a little taste of the tropics. I liked Snow's drink more than mine, as it was blended with frozen yogurt, but mine was still very refreshing."

Snack Time for Alice & Snow...

image38.jpg

Jalapeño Cheese Stuffed Pretzel

Alice said, "For the first time we wanted a snack, and I was determined to try the jalapeño cheese stuffed pretzel. It was really good! Snow and I devoured it, contemplated getting another but then remembered we had Jiko in about 3 hours.
This was washed down with an ice cold diet coke." :thumbsup2

Before their dinner at Jiko, Alice & Snow stopped for a few cocktails at...

Victoria Falls Lounge

image39.jpg

Victoria Falls Mist - Van der Hum tangerine liqueur, Midori melon liqueur, banana liqueur, citrus juice, and Sprite

image40.jpg

Red Stag Lemonade - Red Stag Black Cherry Bourbon and Odwalla Lemonade garnished with Luxardo Gourmet Maraschino Cherries

image41.jpg

Scottish Raspberry Lemon Drop - Hendrick's Gin, Muddles Raspberries, Fresh Lemon Juice, Agave Nectar topped with Wildberry Foam

image42.jpg

Pimm's Punch - Pimm's No. 1 Liqueur, Hendrick's Gin, Odwalla Lemonade, and Wild Strawberry

Mmmm that chocolate covered pineapple spear sounds amazing! I don't think I've ever seen one reviewed before.

I definitely think you have a big enough following to spin off into your own thread!

And I'd be happy to do some live-updates during our November trip :).

Ginamarie & family had dinner tonight at Magic Kingdom's...

Crystal Palace

Buffet with Character

1CE27F38-70EF-4B55-879F-57EEECCF8DE2-3153-000003C2AB24392E.jpg

On this plate: Apples, carrots, salad (lots to choose from), rice, and a sunflower seed roll

On this plate: Pork marsala, more rice, beef loin, turkey, broccoli, sweet & sour wings, and mashed potatoes

Ginamarie said, "Everyone liked this meal. There was a big variety, even for desserts, but I was too full to indulge."

And now back to Animal Kingdom Lodge, where Alice & Snow had dinner at...

JIKO

The Cooking Place

First some menu pics...

Note from jabead: Hey, DDW...notice something missing from the prawn entree? ;)

Realan's Duck Confit Flatbread with Goat Cheese, Berber-spiced Oranges, and Balsamic Reduction

Alice said, "I had the duck confit flatbread. I don't really love duck, but I usually love anything at Jiko. This did not disappoint, the flavors melded perfectly. My crust was a tad burnt on the edges, but it was SO good I didn't care."

image48-1.jpg

African-spiced Fire-Roasted Chicken Flatbread with Four Cheeses, Bacon, Arugula, Peppadews, and Zough

"Snow had the chicken flatbread with no peppers. She thought it was amazing and could have made a meal out of just that."

image49-1.jpg

Oak-grilled Filet Mignon with Mac and Cheese

"My main was the filet medium rare with Mac and cheese. I claimed the beans to be the best I'd ever had (probably due to the booze ;) ) and the filet was melt in my mouth ad always. I'm stuffed and want more now."

image50-1.jpg

Sikhumbuzo's Peri Peri Chicken with Mac and Cheese

"Snow had the chicken. She claimed it was seasoned to perfection and cleared her plate. I just asked her what she thought and she said there were not words to describe it. Oh, she also subbed in the Mac and cheese, as she'd heard me talk about it at home."

And for dessert...

image51-1.jpg

Madagascar Vanilla Cheesecake with Strawberry-Rhubarb Compote and Chocolate Graham Crust

"Snow had the cheesecake and I stole a bite. It was fluffy and to quote, "it just was so so good"." :thumbsup2

image53-1.jpg

Artisanal Cheese Selection

image52-1.jpg

Cheese Plate Menu

"I had the cheese plate. I should have mentioned, I love cheese. All cheese except blue. My friends joke that if a dish has goat cheese, I'm all about it. This cheese plate was great. Not sure what the accoutrements were, but they paired very well."

"Another exceptional dinner at Jiko. I asked Snow if she would eat there again, and she said she would be crazy not to!" :lmao:

Chef Jon had told us about that duck confit flatbread with Berber spices when we spoke to him. Very cool to see it's on the menu now (along with a positive review of it!). :)

And I wonder if the prawns are actually headless now...or if they just changed the menu description so people wouldn't be scared away.

I'd be way more scared for it to NOT say it on the menu and have them arrive staring at me!!!

Barb - I guess you have your answer but I agree about the separate thread!

I think doing live updates would be the perfect start! :thumbsup2 You would then get a feel of what it's like to take pics of your food/beverages and adding a short description and maybe a comment on how well you liked it (or not) and why. I leave the subject matter and the number of updates entirely up to the live reporters. So you can do as many/or few as you are comfortable with and they can be simple or as detailed as you like. If you find that you do enjoy this, then you might want to do a dining report either after this trip or maybe your next trip to Disney World. Then again you might decide that doing a full dining report is not for you. Whatever happens, the important thing is to have fun...because you are on vacation at Disney World! :woohoo:

So to make a long story short...So you'd like to do live updates, works for me! :cool1:

(Oh, and I'll send you a PM with my cell phone number when it gets closer to December. ;))

Let me know if you need anyone else for December - we will be there Dec 20-27th and would be happy to send pictures and descriptions.

Thank you so much for volunteering, disneychristmasx3! I will add you to my list for December and send you a PM with my phone number, probably sometime in November. Is there any other information you would like to share about your trip, other than the dates? Like where you are staying, who is going with you, etc. If not, no worries...just thought I would ask in case you wanted to include it. :)

Just a reminder that starting tomorrow we will have two more Live Reporters at Disney World... :cool1::cool1:

Arriving late tonight is sarabear, who will be staying at AOA in the newly opened Little Mermaid section and has agreed to send some room pics our way! :thumbsup2 She will be at Disney World from 9/25 - 10/2.

And then arriving tomorrow is vettegirl. Lori and her friend, Sue, will be there from 9/26 - 10/1 and staying at CSR. Here is Lori's PTR and her PDR

WOW- I am LOVIN the pics- the ones at AKL especially because I'll be there in about a month for 5 nights. :thumbsup2 I'll try to send some food porn your way if you're still doing this. :thumbsup2 We're at AKV in a GV from 11/2 to 11/7, then BWV 11/7-11/11. :hyper:

And really? I inspired you all the way to Alaska??? DAMN! I need to read my TR myself! :rotfl: I want to be inspired too!

It would be great to have you on the Live Reporting team, podsnel! I'll add you to my trip list and send you a PM with my number. Thanks! :thumbsup2

I am leaning towards a new thread devoted solely to live reports, maybe starting when F&W starts? Kind of a "new" episode of Disney dining so to speak. And if there are gaps, so be it. We can always resurrect the thread if it falls down a bit.

Curious to see what everyone else thinks ....

I'm a fan of a separate thread too.

Thanks for putting this all together no matter what the decision is!

Jill in CO

Ditto to what they said. I will follow where you lead! just let me know where that road is please.:lmao::rotfl2:

I vote for a new thread too :thumbsup2

I vote for a new thread! And I can't wait to contribute some of my own!

I like that idea. :) Considering the menu changes that took place on Wednesday, and the onslaught of Food & Wine fun that's about to start, it feels like a good time to transition to a new thread.

I tend to agree with the others, starting the new "live" thread for F&W sounds like perfect timing.

Just let us know where to go...we will follow! Gotta have our daily food pics :)

BTW, CARROT CAKE COOKIE!! On my "must try" list of snacks :thumbsup2

Yes, Saturday October 27th.

And I see the votes are already rolling in but I agree with a new separate thread for the live updates. :)

Thanks Barb!

I also agree with starting a new thread! Just let us know where to go and we will be there!

I like the idea of a live report thread too - thank's for all your hard work co-ordinating it all :)

Main street bakery.....YUM!! Im never going to make it till May :rotfl2:
I love this thread and I will follow whether it's stays or becomes new!
Thank you for doing all this :goodvibes

The votes are in and unanimously in favor of starting a new thread! :thumbsup2 I too agree that this might be as good of time as any to get it started, with the F & W fest starting on Friday and 5 live reporters being at Disney World by then. :cool1: I will try to work on the introduction asap. I'm hoping to maybe get the thread started today/tonight, since we have two more DISers starting their updates tomorrow. If not, then for sure before Friday. Oh, and I also plan to incorporate some of the "great work" done by our previous live reporters into the new thread. I want their groundbreaking "live update" efforts to be acknowledged and not left behind to die a slow death with my "completed" dining report. Oh, and I also plan to move my List of DISers with Upcoming Trips to Post 2 of the new thread (following the introduction) and maintain it from there.

So if this all sounds good to everyone, then I'll get this new thread launched very soon and we will see just how long we can keep it flying! :goodvibes

Thanks everyone for all your feedback! :thumbsup2
