Bienvenidos! Welcome to the New Disney’s
Coronado Springs Resort Information Thread!

Contents & Quick Links:

The Coronado Springs Resort, "CSR or Nado" for short, is considered home for many Disney guests.
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort (CSR) is a moderate resort and is part of in the Animal Kingdom Resorts Area of the Walt Disney World Resort. CSR is centrally located and offers quick rides to the theme parks. The longest ride is Magic Kingdom at approx. 10-12 mins once you exit the resort.

The goal of this thread is to be a resource for guests and fans of Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. If you have any questions that are not answered in the information section, please feel free to ask and hopefully one of our Nado faithful will be able to help!

So grab a Spanish Margarita, Sangria, tapas, or plate of nachos and join the fun!

Pictures of room views, recreation calendars/signs, and general happenings around the resort are always appreciated.

Bienvenidos!

On arrival, you will want to head to the tower where registration is located. If your room is not ready, you can store your baggage with bell services. Once your room is ready, they will bring your bags to your room.

CSR is a large, spread-out resort. There is no one section that is convenient to everything. The bridges across Lago Dorado do make the walking somewhat easier.

Non-tower rooms are broken down into three villages; Casitas, Ranchos, and Cabanas. These rooms are 314 square feet in size. Each room offers a Keurig with Joffrey's Coffee.

Casitas
Casitas 1 is attached to the convention center and closest to El Mercado de Coronado, the Maya Grill, and the El Centro. The fitness center, spa, and salon are located next to Casitas 4 (a second fitness Center is located in Gran Destino Tower as well). CSR is the only moderate to offer these amenities. Casitas 4 has a Quiet Pool and Guest Laundry. Casitas 4 is nearest to Bus Stop 2. Casitas 5 is the furthest of the Casitas from El Centro but closest to the main pool. The preferred rooms are located in the Casitas. Also, this village offers suites; Executive Suite, 1 Bedroom Suite - King, 1 Bedroom Suite.

Ranchos
Ranchos 7A and 7B are the closest to the main pool. The Ranchos bus stop is Bus Stop 3. Ranchos 6A and B are the furthest buildings out and probably the quietest. Ranchos 7B is has a Quiet Pool and Guest Laundry. Standard and Water View rooms are available in this area.

Cabanas
Cabanas 8A is close to both Bus Stop 4 and the main pool. Cabanas 8C is closest to Gran Destino, El Centro, and the Marina. Cabanas 8C has a Quiet Pool and Guest Laundry. Standard and Water View rooms are available in this area.

There are 67 categories of rooms at CSR including accessible rooms. They can be viewed by
clicking here and then clicking on VIEW PHOTOS under one of the room categories and then the ROOMS tab.

When booking a room in the villages, rooms with tubs vs stand-up showers are random so be specific in your request. As for the tower, all rooms have stand-up showers and do not have a door to separate the shower (glass door) from the sink area like the villages. The toilet area has a door.

Post #5 - Gran Destino Tower / Guest Rooms

Gran Destino Tower does not have its own pool but is close to the Quiet Pool at Cabanas 8C and the main pool is just a slightly longer walk. Gran Destino Tower has several dining and drinking options, but the nearest quick service is El Mercado de Coronado in El Centro. An enclosed hallway connects Gran Destino to El Centro, which is nice during the summer heat and/or rainstorms. Standard rooms in the Gran Destino Tower are 375 square feet, making them the largest of all moderate resort standard rooms.

Tower rooms do not have a ceiling fan. Box fans are available upon request. Each room offers a Keurig with Joffrey's Coffee

Like all WDW resorts, CSR offers bus service to the theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs. CSR does not share buses with any other resort. There are 4 stops around the resort:

Bus stop 1: Gran Destino Tower
Bus stop 2: Casitas
Bus stop 3: Ranchos
Bus stop 4: Cabanas

The bus stop order for the theme parks/water parks is bus stop 2, then 3, then 4, and lastly 1. When Disney Springs buses enter the resort, they proceed to Bus stop 1, then 2, then 3, then 4. This allows you to use them to get around the resort if you do not want to walk.

Post #12 - Current Recreation Calendar / Movies Under the Stars Schedule

Evenings bring campfires and movies. The campfire pit is located on the lawn outside the tower. The schedule of movies changes monthly, but you’ll always find family-friendly Disney and Pixar classics playing.

Click here for March/April activity calendar.

Originally, the resort was inspired from 16th-century explorers like Francisco Vázquez de Coronado and the quest for the Seven Cities of Gold. It celebrated the culture and architecture of Mexico and the American Southwest.

The reimagined Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort celebrates the daring spirit of the great Spanish explorers, artists, writers, and architects. Throughout the resort, guests will discover a blend of classic Spanish influences, imaginative Disney touches and modern comforts both inside and out. The collaboration between Walt Disney and Spanish surrealist painter Salvador Dalí plays a big role throughout the tower.

The resort’s more than 1,800 existing rooms have also been fully updated with new fixtures, furnishings, and lighting. A new restaurant, Three Bridges Bar and Grill, is set on an island in the middle of the resort’s 14-acre lake, Lago Dorado, with walkways stretching across the water, making it convenient no matter where guests stay at the resort. And a fresh color palette will tie the entire resort experience together, blending the new and the newly reimagined.

The resort originally opened on August 1, 1997 and spans 125 gloriously landscaped acres. In the centre of the resort is Lago Dorado, a man-made lake. Around the lake are the three resorts villages and the Gran Destino Tower. The villages are known as the Casitas, Cabanas and Ranchos. The resort also features a main building known as El Centro that houses shops, restaurants, and the convention center. CSR is the only moderate convention resort at Walt Disney World. The resort is also home to The Lost City of Cibola Dig Site pool (reference to the National Treasure 2 movie). It houses a Mayan pyramid with a waterfall cascading into a crystal-clear pool, Siestas Cantina, WDW’s largest hot tub, an arcade, volleyball court, and children’s play area.

FWIW, my wife and I had dinner at Toledo on Wednesday (8/`11). We are local and I was just browsing various places to go for "date night" and notice availability at Toledo. So, on the spur of the moment we grabbed the ADR. We went over about 45 minutes early so we could have a glass of wine in the Daila Lounge. The lounge wasn't terribly busy but there were a lot of people outside taking in the view.

We were seated early (I had let the hostess know that we were there and waiting in the bar). The restaurant was pretty busy. Most (not all) of the tables were full. Food and service was as good as ever.

Speaking of which - I need to get some sort of GDT trip on the books. Looking forward to CL reopening in December (SO DARN FAR AWAY), maybe that will give me a reason to focus.

We stayed at GDT for a runD race sometime in 2019 and I enjoyed it for a race weekend - might have to do that again.
