Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2024 Edition

They really need to do it at DL, then they should be able to run it every night without causing any neighborhood noise issues (or fire hazards), right?
FWIW I’m sure drone technology has advanced since 2017 but when they did a show at springs for Christmas that year all 3 times we drove down i4 to try to catch it the show was canceled for the evening due to high winds and I know that’s a regular reason pyro nights at Disneyland get canceled

Park Hopping Returns to Normal at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney WorldDisney News
Updated: January 9, 2024

The rules for park hopping have finally been relaxed at Walt Disney World. As of January 9, 2024, guests with a park hopper ticket or eligible annual pass can once again visit another theme park at any time during the day. The rule preventing guests from visiting a second theme park until 2pm, which began in 2021, has been dropped.
Guests can now visit a theme park in the morning, catch a ride or two, and then jump to a second theme park in time for lunch. The days of seeing guests waiting at the entrance of a park waiting to scan in at the strike of 2pm are over.

This change brings needed flexibility and more options for guests navigating Walt Disney World. Removing the 2pm requirement will also make the classic challenge to visit all four parks in one day easier to accomplish.
Hopefully this change is just one of many designed to make visiting Walt Disney World less complicated, less confusing, and more enjoyable.

Park to Park Bus Transportation Now Starting Earlier in the Day
Due to the return of Park Hopping, Walt Disney World bus service between the four theme parks will begin earlier in the day. Prior to the Park Hopping change, bus transportation between the parks would only be available in the afternoon due to the 2pm restriction on hopping. Now, bus service begins at 10am. Here’s the announcement:

Bus transportation is now available between the theme parks beginning at 10:00 AM each day. Guests may also take the monorail when traveling between Magic Kingdom park and EPCOT. Bus services are not available from Magic Kingdom park to EPCOT at this time.

Genie+ Still Using 2:00 deadline for Booking LL when Park Hopping

It’s a BIG DAY for Disney World fans!! 🎉

Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom

LOTS of things are changing in Disney World today! The Disney Dining Plan is BACK. Park Pass reservation requirements are GONE for most guests. AND you can now park hop ALL DAY long — no more waiting until 2PM! Of course we’re in the parks all day today — covering all the changes, and well, first thing this morning we spotted a snag.

As you probably assume since we’re at Disney World 365 days a year, the DFB Team are annual passholders. And while that does mean we still have to make park pass reservations even after the rule changes today — we do get to take advantage of all-day park hopping!

We bought Disney Genie+ — Disney World’s paid “skip-the-line” service — early this morning, and when 7AM came, we were ready to book a Lightning Lane. Our reporter was starting the day in Animal Kingdom with Early Theme Park Entry at 7:30AM, and they planned to hop over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios right when it opens at 9AM to ride Slinky Dog Dash as early as possible!

Slinky Dog Dash

However, Disney Genie+ seems to still have the old 2PM park hopping rules applied, because it wouldn’t let us book a Lightning Lane in a different park than the one on our reservation until AFTER 2PM.

My Disney Experience app

Next. we tried to book an Individual Lightning Lane (where you pay extra to ride at a certain time) for Rise of the Resistance. And … the same thing happened. Even though the new rules allow us to park hop anytime, we couldn’t choose an Individual Lightning Lane time until after 2PM.

We decided to have another reporter try with the same result — no Lightning Lanes could be booked until after 2PM. We checked for an app update, but none was available, and we uninstalled and re-installed the app on our phones — just to be sure.

Rise of the Resistance

We’re no stranger to glitches in the Disney World app, and to be honest, we expected we may encounter a tech problem or two today with so many things changing at once. Hopefully this can be fixed soon! We’re in the parks all day today testing out all the new rules, and we’ll keep you posted. Keep following us for much more!

The times of not being able to monorail loop are over! Last year we were in MK and were like omg lets go to Epcot and ride the monorail and let the baby nap. Totally aware of the 2 pm park hopping rules, but we thought we were closer to 2 than we were. We get to Epcot and my husband is like well let's just go to the skyliner then and go back to POP.... Honey... we have to walk THROUGH Epcot to get there... we can't get INTO Epcot! 🤦‍♀️

We love to see Disney doing the bare minimum ;)

Maybe a campground site that goes unused... but would they go to this expense I wonder. Maybe. We'll probably never know.
They’ve known for a long time what day this was happening, they didn’t need to grab something last minute, and all it would take is a room at an All-Star, it doesn’t exactly break the bank for these folks.
