I was at my Hancock's this morning and they had a Singer Ad and they are going to have a particular type of sewing machine for $99 in 2 weeks. I'm wondering if this is a good sewing machine and if I should think about getting one.
Here is what it says about the machine:
Singer Heavy Duty Sew & Serge Sewing Machine (Brand new 2008 models)
These special heavy duty machines have a metal hook (not plastic) and are bulit for years of extended service. Machines are new in factory sealed cartons with 25 yr. limited warranty
It goes on to tell some specifics about the machine:
1. Sophisitcated sewing machine that does buttonholes (any size), invisible blind hems, monograms, ribbing, doubles seams, zippers, sews on buttons, darning, applique, zig zag, basting & quilting.
2. It has a professional serging stitch that allows you to sew the seam and serge the edge of the material in one operations. With the purchase of an optional side cutter, you can trim the excess material as you sew.
3. Designed to sew all fabrics such as denim, canvas, upholstery, nylon, stretch materials, silk, percale, organdy and leather.
Anybody have a machine like this? Or know anything about them?
I have an inexpensive Janome that Hancock's runs on sale around Christmas for about $85.00. I've had it for 3 years and might be in the market for something better.
