Custom Shirts?

Okay, so let me be up front and state that I'm not into the whole family with matching shirts thing, but I was thinking it would be cute to get something that coordinates for my daughter, son, and two nephews. They will be 7, 4, 4, and 1 when we go in November.

Any suggestions on what would be cute for three boys and a girl?

Is there a decent company that you would recommend that doesn't charge an arm and a leg but still has quality items?

I don't know how the ages work out - but Wendy, Peter, and the Brothers would be cute. Or even Peter, lost boys, and Tink.

I like to try and match it up to the movies with stuff like that.

Can't help with the company though.

I'd check etsy. I don't have any specific vendors in mind but I know a lot of cute Disney shirts have come from there.

You can also look for Disney shirts in a particular theme for a day. For example, one day, we all wore our various Monsters Incorporated or Monsters University shirts. All different but same characters. So you could have different Big Hero 6 shirts for them or Fab Five, etc.

Also consider disbounding. Just learned about that from a trip report (because I'm that up to date and cool ). This is where you wear regular clothes but in colors reminiscent of particular Disney characters. Like the one I saw had one girl in a green tank and green shorts with a red feather in her hair and the other girl in blue shirt and blue shorts with a bow (Peter Pan and Wendy). Check pinterest for ideas.

We just do regular shirts that have something Disney on them and maybe coordinate days such as a Fab 5 day, Toy Story day, etc.
If you are really wanting custom and quality I think you will have to pay for it. I'd start with Etsy as I know people happy with Etsy orders, but I do not have any personal experience there. GL!

I am actually in the process of opening up a custom t-shirt Etsy shop! I am in the process of uploading pictures, it is extremely difficult to take professional looking photos with an iphone! You are actually giving me an idea, maybe I should focus on Disney themeing instead of just tshirts. I made water bottles for my kids and nieces last summer.
Anyway, if you're interested I'd love to make something for you! I was planning on charging $20 a shirt. Does that seem too high? I'd love any input as to what type of things people would want and what they would pay for it! I love the Peter Pan, Wendy and brothers idea, I might do that!

Have you tried BlueCotton.com? I've used them before and their quality was great. There pricing was really competitive, but I was ordering for an entire team so you'll have to check that out for your situation.

Definitely browse through Etsy. We have had such great experiences with them. Some might even do discounts if you order in bulk like that.

If you have a cricut or silhouette machine you could purchase the iron on shirt material and cut out some fun disney images. I am totally doing this for my family on one shirt we wear on our first day to one of the WDW parks.

I've used Custom Ink before for shirts. www.customink.com

They have a large variety of price ranges and shirt materials and types. I was happy with what we ordered. An instant quote for four shirts with one color ink came to $20.30 a piece.

If you're not into everybody matching, then I'd skip custom (because you'll be paying for each and every one of the shirts if they're all different rather than getting any small bulk discounts) and just get things that coordinate.

For our AK day we usually wear something with animals or something brown and safari like, for instance. We don't match, but we coordinate (plus, easier to remember what kids wearing when it's something similar to what I'm wearing). Looks better in pictures, too!

Target often has Disney shirts, disney store, obviously, kohls supposedly, though I've personally never had much luck there.

You can buy custom iron-ons off etsy for under $10, and then make your own shirt. That's what I did last time. This year, I went with tinylittlemonsters.com for matching shirts. It cost a bit more for 5 shirts, but I picked the nice brand that I know I like rather than just Hanes or something like that.

We are doing a custom family shirt set for just the Christmas party....we are getting santa mickey heads on greeen shirts of Etsy!

I would say etsy has a good selectionof family shirts that I've ordered there. Or you can just use the zazzle and creat your own. And last if you want you can even go to Pinterest on how to do them yourself or ideas and it might be cheaper that way.

Etsy is going to run anywhere from $10 (usually durable iron-ons that don't peel) to around $25 where a personalized applique is stitched onto the shirt. If you're doing one for each child, I might do a stitched applique shirt. If you're looking to do 2 or more for each, I'd likely go cheaper. We had a combination on our last trip. First photo is a shirt I got for my daughter to wear the day she met some princesses. On the back it says, "Move over, there's a new princess in town." Sorry for the size of these. Can't seem to get them to show smaller.

The photo underneath the kids have on shirts with stitched appliques they wore to the Character Spot at Epcot.

I've also in previous years just gone to the DISign forum on here and asked for custom designs from various people (then printed them and ironed them on plain shirts) or gone through their files and gotten a generic design to print and iron on. I stopped doing that because one trip, dd and I went wild picking them out and I was ironing for days. Plus the ones from etsy last longer.

For those ages especially if you don't need them to match exactly, I might just hit a Wal-Mart, Disney Store or Target. You could do Mickey for the boys and Minnie for the little girl. Woody and Buzz for the boys and Jesse for the little girl. Olaf for the boys and Ann/Elsa for the little girl, Fab 5/6 for all. Disney Store actually has some of their kids sized t-shirts marked down to $8 right now.

What about Mereda and the triplets? Monsters, Up, Dalmations, Alice in Wonderland - tons of ideas.

We went with either a mickey head/minnie head with different fabrics and shirt colors that appealed to us all. We did the "pocket" size applique. My sister's friend did them and charged us $7 per shirt. We found shirts and craft stores/Walmarts and bought fabrics that we liked in 1/4 yard sizes. They turned out great and we wear them all the time.
