Our First Update of the Day today was sent to us by AuroraMeansDawn.
Dawn said, "We had an early start yesterday and arrived at DHS at 8:40 for a 9:00 am opening and found the park already open! Nice bonus! We made do on coffee and Atkins bars from our room until our 12:10 ADR at Mama Melrose with the F! Package."
First some menu pics...
"We were seated right at 12:00 at a nice four top and Simon our server was wonderful and very accommodating. The bread basket came and I was starving but didn't partake."
"The boys said the real butter was good and the rolls were crispy on the outside and tender inside."
Mama's Antipasto for Two - selection of Italian meats, cheeses, and marinated vegetables
"Dylan and I shared the antipasto platter and it was huge! I don't eat a lot of processed meats so I found them a little too salty but Dylan enjoyed them. I loved the cherry peppers that had a little zing but were sweet and the pine nuts and kalamata olives. There were three wedges of each variety of cheese. One was Stilton or maybe a blue cheese, and the other three wedges were a hard parm. For strong cheeses like that, three large wedges of each was more than enough, but we took one for the team and finished most of it."
Fresh Mozzarella and Vine-ripened Tomatoes with marinated sweet onions, balsamic drizzle, basil-scented olive oil and fresh sweet basil
"Jesse had the fresh mozzarella and tomato salad. He enjoyed it but said it was a bit bland. Maybe a little more balsamic vinegar would help. A bit of salt too, but he enjoyed it and finished it all."
"Simon was very accommodating for entrees too. I chose the whole wheat spaghetti with chicken. It normally comes breaded but I asked for it grilled and with no cheese and the marinara on the side. It was delicious. The breast was butterflied and seasoned with traditional Italian spices. I enjoyed it very much and only added a touch of sauce and it made for a great light and flavorful lunch."
Wood-grilled Tuna over a seasonal Vegetable Risotto, warm Vine-ripened Diced Red and Yellow Tomatoes, and Olive-Caper Butter
"Jesse chose the wood-grilled tuna over risotto and had it cooked medium rare. He said it was fantastic! He isn't one to overly emote so for him that was high praise."
Seafood Arrabbiata with shrimp, mussels, calamari, fish of the day, and whole-wheat spaghetti tossed with spicy seafood sauce
"Dylan chose the seafood arrabbiata and said it was good and very garlicky but had a bit of an afterburn. He likes spicy food so it suited him just fine."
"For dessert we had all asked for the sugar-free selection and Simon was kind enough to forego the assortment platter and brought each of us a sugar-free panna cotta with a cranberry compote. I thought it was divine. It is amazing how accommodating service can be if you ask nicely and smile."
"This blended tart and sweet nicely and didn't give you the massive sugar rush. It was light and tasty. Being Texans, we have a fair bit of flan and it is very similar in texture for those who are not familiar with panna cotta."

She said, "After Fantasmic! last night, we drug ourselves back to POFQ and ate at the food court. Jess was tuckered so he went to the room."
"Dylan had the Creole burger. It's a regular burger with fried shrimp on top."
"I had the Angus Bacon burger and removed the top half of the bun and knife and forked it. Dylan got my fries."
"I also had a small bottle of Chardonnay. I was teasing the kid at the register that I was going to just put my Mickey straw in it and sip til my feet quit hurting but he gave me a glass to class up my food court adult beverage selection."
"Dylan and I split a festive looking but not too spectacular cupcake and grabbed a Mickey krispie treat to take home a friend."

emmebear said, "Good morning from Bonnet Creek! Cancelled our pre-park ADR at Crystal Palace as Emme's still not 100% and my parents were wore out. Emme is still not eating much, but said she wanted crescent rolls for breakfast. She even rolled and shaped them herself."

Just wanted to add some info. about the plastic plates that Brenda and Emily noticed at the Plaza restaurant recently:
I just read in Josh's blog over on easywdw.com that the Plaza shared dishwashers with the Main Street Bakery. And, as we all know, that is under construction and being converted into a Starbucks. So, apparently, the Plaza has lost their access to the dishwashers for the time being.

"We survived Mexico with no caloric intake but the soothing sounds of the Stave Church made us crave something more so we simply HAD to visit..."

...where I grabbed a Ligonberry Horn. Apparently the Cloudberry harvest was poor this year so they changed berries - so said the CM behind the counter. Dylan had the sweet almond pretzel. Both were yummy but there is a distinct mass produced taste to them. I liked the tart/sweet combination in the Ligonberry horn but I didn't get a taste of the pretzel.

I was super excited to see a live review for Sanaa!! I'm definitely booking a lunch there next time so we can dine at the savanna! The food sounds awesome too so you get the best of everything.
