Best character breakfasts

Heading down to the great WDW june 4-11. We always do Chef Mickey's and will do again this time. We're looking for another character meal to attend, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner. Can anyone give some suggestions. We were looking at Whispering Canyon or maybe O'hana's for a few. Any other tips would be a big help to us. Thanx.

I would definitely recommend Ohanas. I normally do not like to eat in restaurants but prefer grabbing a deli sandwhich and some fruit on the go. But every trip we take to Disney definitely has a scheduled Ohanas visit. I'd recommend their breakfast over lunch though. They have Chip and Dale there too!!!

Crystal Palace with Pooh & Friends gets my vote. The food is very good. The charcaters are great & the place is so pretty. We do this breakfast every time we go....we only missed it once when they were closed for rehab a few years ago.

Donalds Breakfastausorus (sp?) is a never miss for us. Food is good, and the character interaction is excellent. You also get to see Donald, who is hard to find anywhere else.

I second Donald's Breakfastsaurus. It's always a must-do for our family.

Also, while Whispering Canyon is great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, there are no characters there (unless you call the waitstaff "characters").

Cape May for breakfast gets our vote....the characters are cute in their beach attire and they have always spent alot of time with us! It's a must for us this trip!

We've done breakfast at Crystal Palace--severly disappointed. The food was dismal--most of the buffet was closed before we were seated and what was left was scraps--we barely saw the characters, the service was the ONLY time I have ever considered not tipping--to call it bad is being extermely nice & the CMs could have cared less.

We've done breakfast at Donald's. The food was good if not fantastic. The service was friendly, prompt, & all around good. Even though it was crowded, we got plenty of character time & they were very good. We'll do this one again and again. One of my son's favorites.

We've done dinner at Garden Grill. Excellent food. Good service and good characters. The atmosphere was wonderful too.

We've done dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern and will continue to do so every trip. Fantastic food. Fantastic service. Fantastic character interaction. Calm. Easy going. Nice atmosphere. Bathrooms are way too small though.

And we've done breakfast at Chef Mickey's. Super service. Decent food. Ok character interaction. Next time we're doing dinner there on arrival day.

I definitely agree with Ohana's! We started our vacation with breakfast there and I couldn't think of a more perfect way. The atmosphere is fun, the food is delicious, and the characters are great.

the 1900 Park Fair breakfast is excellent. Especialy the cold strawberry soup. the made to order omelets are the best of any resort. But best of all, it is the only character breakfast that I seen that has the softserve ice cream machine working. (nothing better than a Mickey waffle with strawberries and a dab of ice cream to get the day going)

rt2dz, I'm so sorry your Crystal Palace experience was a poor one, because that's my family fave character breakfast. Even family members who don't want pics with characters love the food--the quality and the quantity.

However, I had a similar experience (at the end of the serving time with scarce service and characters I felt I needed to hunt down) at Cindy's breakfast the one time we've managed to get a PSA. We marked that up as an aberration. We knew we were in the last seating, and they seating had been a nightmare because people insisted on standing in line for pics with the Fairy Godmother instead of being seated at their appointed time. Also, we were three adult women with no small children in our party, so there would be no temper tantrums or crying if we didn't see our favorite princess IMMEDIATELY.

;)

To csuzannet: Thanks for the sympathy; that's actually a lot more than we got from the cms at CP. No kidding. And THAT is actually what irks me more than anything. I understand bad days--I was a hostess age 14-18, waited tables 18-21, managed restruants 21-24, and a restruant consultant 24-28, Did event planning 28-29, then became a stay-at-home-mommy, but remain a foodie. DH also until 3 years ago was in the restruant business in one way or another (sales) from the age of 14.

We showed up for our PS 20 minutes early (expecting to wait until our ps time--baby had to nurse anyhow), and weren't seated until 45 minutes after our ps time--and our ps was for 10:10, they take ps upto 11:30. So, NOT the end of service times. I don't think we saw our server, but twice. He had to keep chasing down our servers to get anything--like our first round of drinks which *he* never brought us. And we NEVER did see pooh, thankfully, we were the first in at toontown the next time at MK & ds3 was able to walk in holding pooh's hand.

When we got back, I was talking with a friend of mine who is not only a Disney junkie, but a Disney Specialist TA. She told me that while it wasn't a common experinece at CP (why she didn't warn me when I told her we were doing it), that it isn't uncommon either--about 20% of all CP patrons have that as a typical experience. If it were up to me, I'd never go back. But low and behold, DS, now 4, wants to try again because he didn't get to eat with pooh like he wanted. DS14m, is also becoming a pooh fan, so they might win out. Haven't decided yet as me and dh were repulsed. And again, mainly by the lack of care (read apology) from the CP CMs.
