Any "crunchy" type people here??

doulacandice, I am glad you started this thread:goodvibes It's nice talking with others who share a similar parenting/lifestyle as I do.
I am glad it was able to stay positive as a place to post and talk about how crunch we are and not turn into a debate thread!
When is your trip to the World? How old will your kids be when you go?

:goodvibes

I'm glad too!!!!

Our trip is next month acutally!! We are going end of Jan.. My kids are 8, 7, 2 and my son will be 9 months when we go..

Anyone have tips for me? I went to WDW a LONG time ago :lmao: I was 15-16 when I went. This is our first trip as a family! What rides can we all ride as a family? I hate that we can't enjoy more together on the rides but we will plan on using the baby swap a lot!! I just wanna see all my children's faces on rides and get pictures!!

I wish I could have been a bit crunchier when it came to my son. We fully planned on a natural birth and breastfeeding but when i became very high risk, that kind of fell by the wayside. It got even worse when we had to have a C-section. We tried to breastfeed but I couldn't. I was very upset about that. Our son was Circumsized (I cried the whole time he was gone) and he has been vaccinated though I still worry about some of it still today.

Both my husband and myself wore our son all of the time. (It was a lot of fun watching people stare at DH while he had a baby strapped to him  ) and we did organic baby food. We still eat organic whenever possible. We co-slept using so many different techiniques and still take "family naps" whenever possible.

We have wanted our son to understand that a healthy lifestyle includes exercise so he's been pushed in a running stroller by my DH since he was 6 months old. DH lost 134 pounds a few years back so this is really a big deal to him. They have competed in 4 races together and in the summer, they log at least 40-50 miles a week.

I don't know if you'd call this "crunchy" but I have all but limted my son's TV watching until recently. Instead, he has blocks, lots of books, and Planet Heroes (I think he amazed the pediatrician when we went in for his 3 year check up and he rattled off all of the planets in order.) He will probably go to school but not a normal one by any means. I am a reading specialist that works at a school with 136 students with a real family atmosphere. Hopefully he will atend there.

Maybe we're not crunchy but I'd say that we're unconventional sometimes and like the rest of you, everything that we do is out of love.

I never set out to be "crunchy", but we certainly lean that way in many instances. We just do what works for us. That is cloth diapering, extended breastfeeding, selective vaxing, baby wearing, gimme the epi around the 8th month, omivorious, healthy foods, healthy cleaners, recycling, reusing.....

:rotfl: HA! Caught you sneaking that one in there!!!!!! Don't think you are the only one, though - I asked my OB if I could have an epidural at my 6 month visit, and just keep it in until delivery. He thought I was kidding.....:rotfl:

Hello. I am new here but I may fit into this category... a little.
We homeschool (10 years now), I breastfed all 4 of mine for a grand total of 6 years altogether, been there done that with vegetarianism and organics - just a dabbler these days - not a diehard. I am very interested in meeting some of the homeschoolers/unschoolers here on the DIS.
So what is this "Disney Homeschool Days" for 2008 I saw on someone's post? Thanks...

www.disneyhomeschooldays.com is the official disney websited. Disney does it once or twice a year, in Sept. and coming up in Jan.

It is our first time and we couldn't pass it up when we got the prices!!!!!

I will have to go everytime now:)

Check it out. Even if you don't go during Disney's homeschool days you can go with a group from your area for an extremely discounted rate any other time of year I think:)

I just got this years schedule the other day. It's at Epcot on the 14 and 15 of Jan.

Wow.. I wish we would be there during the home school days!! That would be awesome..

I see they STILL do the magic music days!!!!!!!! I did that in high school and we stayed at Disney for four days.. It was fantastic! Best time ever!! It was SO cool to be in the parade and I even told the kids while we were watching the Christmas parade and they were like NO WAY!! :rotfl:

Then my 7 yr old asked me if I was big then too. :rotfl: :rotfl:
