What we know -
- Two VERY LARGE groups of people got into a brawl in Fantasyland.
- Uniformed Security and Orange County Sheriffs arrived in 2 and 5 minutes.
- All persons were taken to WDW Security offices.
- Three individuals were arrested for misdemeanor battery.
- One individual was taken to the hospital for minor injury (cut on the chin).
This is all we know.
What has happened is one family ran to a blogging site to give their side of the story and provide a video - which did not verify their story, just showed the melee. We have no idea if what they said is true, I've have not seen any witnesses come forward to verify this story. We don't know for sure what happened before Philharmonic, we are only getting the story from the group who felt slighted. We have two different stories of who was waiting for who outside, we don't know what was said outside, we don't know who swung the first punch, we don't know anything - only a brawl with participants from both groups. I am not going to assume anything we heard is true or not. When you run to a blogger, lost credibility.
No where is an actual news reports anyone was charged with theft, damage to property etc so I will have to believe that part of their story was made up - but then I don't trust the blogging source anyway (big on fake stories for clicks). The story from them, if true, indicated the family that was asked to leave the hotel and trespassed was the family who believed they had been wronged??? Guess Disney didn't believe them?? No word on anything from the other (matching) family.
As far as the complaints on security - people are sure quick to lay blame on things they know nothing about. Disney Security that we see out front and walking about have lots of jobs but getting in the middle of a street fight is not one. Most are retired and in no position to battle. They aren't paid enough to get hurt. CMs in Fantasyland, absolutely not. They can ask other guests to leave the area, they can make sure some things are secured, they can keep a close watch as they are witnesses ... but jumping in to stop it - no way, not paid enough and that is not their job. Their job is notify security (who can secure the area) and the sheriff who come do the physical work. AND the parks are FULL of undercover cops. They very well could have been one of them holding back some of the swingers but they won't break cover, we are to think they were with them or another guest. People who just stood there videotaping and crying out for security need to just move on.
NOTE: I am here this week (DHS yesterday so missed it) but I can tell you guests are rude, guests are horrid to CMs, guests are yelling, guests are cutting lines .... and it is quite disheartening behavior.
