This was the first day of the trip that we actually had no meals planned, so it was time to sample some of the offerings from the F&W festival.
We spent the morning riding Soarin', Test Track etc, then wandered across to World Showcase around 11:30.
Our first stop was at the Mouse Catch to get some of DH's favourite food, cheese!! He chose the trio which was a good sized portion of cheese for $4.75, consisting of Dorothea (a Dutch Cheese), Piave (Italian Cheese) and Mahon (Spanish Cheese). He enjoyed all 3 samples, with the Mahon being his favourite.
I stopped at Mexico City to try a Quesadilla con Chorizo. The Quesadilla was very soft, but the filling was pretty much just cheese, with a few tiny pieces of chorizo. It was fine, but I would have preferred more chorizo.
Next we visited India so DH could try the Rice and Lentil Crepe. The crepe was freshly cooked when we ordered it, filled with a dahl like paste, topped with vegetables in a very spicy sauce. He really enjoyed this but felt the sauce was a little too hot.
We then walked round the Germany where I had a Nuernberger Sausage on a Pretzel Roll. This was very nice, the pretzel roll was soft and salty, the sausage was good and the mustard not too spicy. We also shared a glass of Riesling, which was a good sweet wine, served nice and chilled.
DH decided to try the Mushroom Soup with Chive Dumplings from Vienna. This was really good, it had a strong mushroom flavour and contained a few soft, tasty chive dumplings. I had a taste and agreed it was good.
It was very hot outside and I was getting thirsty so we got a Primavera from Italy. This was a very good non-alcoholic strawberry, banana and peach slush, it was sweet but not overly so, and refreshing.
We then split the Praline Bread Pudding served with Bourbon Caramel Sauce from the Louisiana booth. This was a good bread pudding, soft texture, very sweet. The caramel sauce was nice but we couldn't really taste any bourbon in it.
DH had a Falafel Pita pocket from the Marrakesh booth. This was a big portion with 3 falafel and salad served in half a pita bread. I can't find the picture of this but he enjoyed it.
I bought some cheese soup from Canada as I'd really enjoyed it when I'd dined at Le Cellier. Again this was really good, strong cheddar and bacon flavours with a little spicy kick. I was going to try the Salmon as it sounded really good, but I had a very sore throat today and figured the soup would help.
I also sampled the Ham Croquette and a Bacardi Dragon Berry Colada from San Juan. The croquettes were fine, basically deep fried ham and potato coated in breadcrumbs. The colada was nice but it was very sweet and I couldn't really taste any bacardi in it.
Overall we enjoyed the F&W festival again this year. There's not a huge selection of veggie options, but there were enough to keep DH from being hungry!
