A Week of Om Nom Noms! - Sept. 2014 Dining Report (w/ F&W) - COMPLETED

Hi again, Billie! Another great report! Question, I noticed you had breakfast at Tusker House & Boma. Would you say they are very similar? We also have reservations for breakfast at both for our upcoming trip, and I'm wondering if I should switch the Tusker House to lunch, especially since they are a day apart.

great photos and reviews...thanks for taking the time to do this...

They are relatively similar, yes. In addition to the normal breakfast fare, they both have beef bobotie at breakfast. I do feel that Boma has a much bigger selection, though. On my next trip I'm going to do Boma for our departure day breakfast again, but doing dinner at Tusker House on our AK day. :thumbsup2

My pleasure! Thank YOU for taking the time to read and comment! :goodvibes

How the heck did I miss that you did DINING REVIEWS????

I enjoyed reading this report...just one thing...quit calling yourself a fatty...you are a gourmet...8-) At least that is what I keep telling myself! LOL!

Also, what kind of self respecting southern girl goes to a restaurant for breakfast (Tusker House) and doesn't have their wonderful YUMMY cheesy grits (Mealie Pap)???!!! I could probably eat my weight in that stuff!

Now I have to go read all your other dining reviews....:rolleyes1

Hahaha! Hi, Lynn! :scratchin After each trip, I do separate Trip Report and Dining Report threads. I know not everybody reading my TRs care about every morsel I stuffed into my mouth during my trip. On the other hand, somebody just want to hear about the food and not every little thing I did all week. So I break them up into two reports, and people can choose to follow just one, or both. :cutie:

I saw a series of graphics recently of a young woman who perfectly explains my feeling on words like "fat" and "fatty," and why I embrace them:

Ha! That's a very good question! I have no idea how I managed to cruise right by those! Maybe I was trying to save room for the lunch items that never came? :confused3

Now I have to go read all your other dining reviews....:rolleyes1
Hooray! Enjoy them, I hope they make you hungry! :rotfl:

I use fat as a description of myself too (5'2 and just shy of 300#)...does not bother me. I really enjoy and savor food (and I LOVE to cook! and Bake!) I guess that I have just not heard people use the word "fatty" as just a description....always as an "oh horrors that person is fat" description.

I only see the one from earlier this year and this one...I need links to others if you have them! LOL...I sometimes like to go to the food porn thread on the dining boards, cause I just truly like learning and seeing and hearing about foods...especially ones I have not tried.

I cook because I have to, not because I want to. If my finances allowed for it, I'd eat out or order in 3 meals a day. I LOOOOOVE to eat, though!

I'm taking it up a level, and reclaiming just not the word "fat," but also the word "fatty!" At 6'0" and 345 lbs, I'm a fatty and I'm totally fine with that. In the same way that a petite girl is a "shorty." :rotfl:

Haha! Sorry, I just started writing reports during my Sept 2014 trip! You'll have to wait until I get back from my December trip if you want more! :P

Dude. Seriously. I subscribe to that thread. And when I see it pop up on my Watched Threads list with a new update, I get so EXCITED. :lmao: It's the first thing I click on!!!

Thanks so much for your dining report! I will absolutely positively need to try that almond gelato at Landscape of Flavors next year when we stay at AoA. Can't wait! :D

I'm so much looking forward to having more of it when I stay there in just a couple more months!!! :cutie:

Great report! We were there some of the same days you were last year! (we were there the 25th to the 2nd)

I checked and the only day we were at the same park was Sat the 27th, we were in MK too but we were mostly in Tomorrowland and Fantasyland that day.

We did eat at BOG, too but it was a late one 8 or 8:30. I had the exact same meal you did! Well, Except the wine, LOL, I'm not really a wine drinker.

I have read and enjoyed your other reports, too but only commented on this one because it had a post from September and the others were from back months ago.

Oh, so you lived through last year's September all-month-long typhoon, also? :rotfl:

It was surprisingly crowded that day, I remember! I mean, Saturdays at MK always are, especially during party season, so I was somewhat prepared. But geez! :scared:

I'm only a lush while on vacation, I swear! :rolleyes1

Feel free to comment on any of my threads! As you see, I'll always reply! I love reading feedback from DISers! :cutie:

Just spent the last hour reading and feasting my eyes out! Yummy, Yummy! Even the seafood and pork which I don't eat.
ADR date is rapidly approaching and I thought reading some dining reports would help me out some, but all they're doing is making me hungry and a bit overwhelmed! I keep rethinking my decisions. I realize I can't do it all though so I'm going to use it as an excuse to plan another trip someday. That next trip will most definitely be F&W!

Loved the descriptive fat graphic. I'm struggling with that right now so it was very much needed.

Great report! It made me definitely want to plan a F&W trip some day as we are just going to be a little early when we go next year. I loved all of your pictures!

Also, thank you for your body positivity!

I'm only a lush while on vacation, I swear! :rolleyes1 No problem! :-) I just like sweeter, fruity ones like the ones you had at other dinners

If you look at my TR below for that trip you'll see that I titled it "And it rained, and rained, and rained..." It was the worst rain we ever had in 15 trips. As much as I loved the F & W Fest (That Scallop from Scotland was my fave (my dad's too) ) the 2 Epcot days were almost all day rain.

Reading dining reports and food porn threads here on the DIS alwaaaaays makes me so hungry! (But I'm kinda always hungry regardless, so whatever.) Next year's trip for me is back to F&W! I loved it!

And girl, it's definitely okay to love yourself and your body, fat and all.

This was my very first F&W and it was AWESOME! I can't wait to return in October 2016!

And thank YOU for appreciating body positivity! :thumbsup2

Loved your report! Going to find your other reports, I like your style. I'll be at WDW with my mom in December, if I see you, I will say "HI"!

Just finished up your report! Can't wait to move on to your newest ones! Thanks for sharing!:flower1:
