Happy Monday All! Week is off to a bumpy start work wise.

Sump pumps are common here, but so far I’ve been lucky that I’ve never had an issue with mine.

I‘ve been to DLR twice. I do like that the parks are close together, Pirates, and New Orleans Square. I grew up going to DW though so that feels like home.

I could use some cheering up today. Trying to think happy thoughts.

lucked out today. been doing stuff around the outside of the house since the weather is finally nice and yesterday dh and i were discussing needing to getting a spigot replaced on the front of the house. we both lamented for about the 100th time that the builder should have put one if not two additionally on one of the sides (the other side has two-the side in question has none) so we decided that when i called to schedual a plumber i would ask if i could get a bid for installs. LUCKED OUT-they had a cancellation for today so the one spigot will be repaired and i can get the estimate on one-two more :thumbsup2

Work has stabilized. Typical Monday in IT lately.

The other 2 things are a bit more complicated. My mom has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s. So far, it’s not impacting her walking and is primarily her speech, and tremors in her hands but I know she values her independence. It was my ENT who noticed the symptoms and suggested she get checked out. She is in her 80s though.

And I’m normally the type of person who doesn’t like to give up on someone, but eventually there does come a point when I feel that maybe I’ve given someone too many chances. That point happened over the weekend. I know I will be ok, as I inherited that independent streak from my mom but today hasn’t been a great day.

:grouphug: I'm so sorry about your Mom. My parents are in their upper 70s and it so hard to see them not being able to do some of the things they've always done. I can't imagine how you are feeling with the Parkinson's.

And it is hard to give someone up, but at least you recognized the season is over for that relationship and can move on, even if it hurts. Hugs to you!

Do we have any Pickleball players here? I have never played and not sure I will, but it does look a lot easier to play than tennis. Every day on my run/walk, I see tons of people playing or waiting for their turn. I do know that in my area there has been some tension between various groups vying for limited space to play this growing sport.
DD12 got a set for Easter. I splurged on a quality net but we are playing in the grass so I know not the "right" way but we have been enjoying ourselves. Our local park has a court so we will try it out sometime.
THIS. American chocolate is way too waxy. My mother is English so we always had proper English Cadbury chocolates growing up ... buttons are my favorite but they can be a bit trickier to find.
My BIL always brings buttons back from Ireland when he visits his family. Yum

Hugs to you on both. I hope it all works out.

I haven't had time to DIS lately, and have only been checking my watched posts for updates. For the first time in a while I click on the forums and see this thread and have to click on something marked as closed. Thanks for the time suck this morning but I have been happy to learn about so many topics! Adding this to my watched posts

As for IPAs, some I like some I don't.

We tend to name our pets with people names, Oliver, Pandora, Meredith, Sandy, Emma, Hailey, Greta, etc. We also have a small farm with registered cattle so they have official names too!

As far as serial killers, I read the book "The Devil in the White City", so I guess that would be my fav?

I am currently letting my hair grow out to my natural color after coloring it for 30 years. Lots of grey and silver coming in but the ends get brassy. I am two months in but I feel like the next few months will be the hardest. I am keeping it above my shoulders in length anyone else have any other tips? My stylist is hesitant on doing a gray wash or gray highlights because she says it is dull color and I have a lot of silver. Is she lying to me or is there something else I should ask her for?

To stay on topic, "wink wink" My sister was a SAHM and they still took Disney vacations. They cut costs at home and picked up a few side jobs to add to the "Disney Jar". I still do this. I won a fancy purse at a bingo the other night. It isn't my cup of tea so a friend is going to help me sell it on Ebay. Disney jar (ka ching).

Welcome to our happy thread :flower1:

As for the going au natural in your hair maybe go with a bit shorter style to get rid of the colored hair faster and change it up?

I have wanted to read the “Devil in the White City” how was it?

I’m so sorry to hear about your bad start to the week. It always seem everything is going smoothly and a bunch comes at us all at once sometimes. :grouphug: Take a little time this week to do something for yourself.

My dogs have people names too. My current Lab is Bridget, her sister that passed away was Esther.

I went back to my natural, graying color during the pandemic. My hairstylist applies a glaze usually every other cut to help tone the grays, although I think if I’m remembering it was a bit more often at first. I’m pretty happy with the results.

Aw, thinking of you ... that is a lot for anyone to handle. Hope things turn around soon. :grouphug:

Welcome! You totally reminded me that we had a "Disney Jar" when I was a kid that we put all our literal change in. The digital version isn't as satisfying, somehow.

I love Bridget ... such a dog non-dog name ...

I have wanted to read the “Devil in the White City” how was it?
Thanks for the welcome.

I liked it, but its creepy. I have read three titles by Erik Larson and that was the first I tried. I actually went with it for the information on the Worlds Fair. We studied it in my intro to landscape architecture class in college. The amount of research detail that he puts into his books is mind boggling. The one about Churchill and the blitz is good too. The one about Hitler just didn't hit me the same. I have to remember to see if there are anymore in my local library or on Libby.

I go au natural for months on end because I'm too lazy to color my hair.

Loved Devil in the White City. I have Isaac's Storm by Erik Larson on my nightstand waiting for me to start.

Funny story about going grey or gray or however it's spelled....

I have been coloring my hair for many, many years and I have known for quite some time that I would be gray if not coloring my hair. Well, in June 2021 I was diagnosed with breast cancer but wouldn't be starting chemo until Sept due to several factors. I was NOT going to waste any more money on haircuts or colors because those golden strands' days were numbered. In Sept, all my hair fell out and I was wearing a beanie most of the time and got so used to having no hair that I started to panic when lo and behold I had sprouts again in June of 2022. Of course, I was now silver.....except, for reasons only known to a divine creator with a sly sense of humor. the lower half of the back of my head was now dark brown??? Huh? And....my hair was too short to get it colored for a few months so I had a very interesting....."look" until my sprouts became seedlings. I was resigned to going silver as it seemed like the perfect occasion to do so BUT I decided if I was going to spend $$ money to color my hair silver, I might as well go back to being brown with blond highlights.

So...I guess it was nature's way of telling me it wasn't quite time for me to be a silver goddess.....just yet. :p

I’m glad you are doing better 🥰. My hair got a little bit curlier each kid I had. Our bodies do weird things sometimes!!
