Parking at DVC resorts

Hi all,

I know I should know this but it’s been a while since we’ve been (and even longer since we’ve rented a car). What’s the current policy regarding parking at our DVC resort (BWV). I believe it’s free, but is valet parking no longer included?

We do have someone in our party who uses a handicap tag. I vaguely recall something about handicap tag & free valet parking, but I’m not sure.

Thanks in advance for the refresher!

No daily resort parking fee when staying on points at any Disney Resort. No daily resort parking fee for DVC members staying at a DVC resort (regardless of payment method).

The daily valet parking fee is waived if you have a valid handicap tag. The valet parking benefit for DVC members ended many years ago.

Thanks for confirming. I still remember the good old days with the free valet parking! ☺️

White card members are supposed to pay for parking when staying on cash, but the policy is applied very inconsistently.

Blue card members are supposed to get free parking at ALL Disney resorts, not just DVC resorts, but again... the policy is applied inconsistently.

I believe this is true only if the DVC member pays with points at a non-DVC resort. If a blue card holder has a regular cash reservation at a non-DVC resort, I believe they are subject to parking fees.
"Disney Vacation Club Members
Members will not be charged for standard overnight self-parking when staying at a DVC Deluxe Villa, regardless of whether they use vacation points or another form of payment. Members also will not be charged to park when using vacation points to stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel. A Member who chooses not to use vacation points for their stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel in an accommodation other than a DVC Deluxe Villa will be charged for standard overnight self-parking."

Yeah there's definitely some conflicting information... I believe the bit that I mentioned is locked behind the DVC Member site under Membership Extras.

Members do not get free parking at non-DVC resorts when paying cash and the free parking at DVC resorts when paying cash or points is the same for blue and white card members. There is no Membership Extra benefit regarding parking unless you consider being able to book cash rooms with points and not having to pay for parking on those stays as a benefit to the blue card.

DVC members get free parking: (a) at any DVC resort if staying on points or for cash; (b) at any non-DVC Disney Resort if staying on points but must pay if staying on cash. Moreover, guests of, and renters from, DVC members who are staying at a DVC resort on points get free parking at the resort.

There is no parking rule difference between blue and white card members. Any resale points purchased on or after March 21, 2011 cannot be used to reserve non-DVC Disney hotels, regardless of whether you are otherwise a blue card member. White card members are thus subject to that same rule but if they have points purchased from Disney (but not enough to get full blue-card Member Benefits), they can still use those points to reserve non-DVC Disney hotels and get free parking.

Not true when staying DVC. The parking lots are common elements And there covered via dues.

DVC members staying at non DVC on points get free parking. That has to do with status of ponts. Resale points purchased after 2012 can’t be used, only direct points.

Blue vs white card only applies to membership magic, which parking is nOt.

I realize it's semantics. Parking really isn't "free." It's paid for by dues (at least at DVC properties). Does anyone really think Disney/DVD would still waive parking charges if our dues don't cover maintenance on the parking lots?

Fine, you dont have to pay anything extra to park.

Better?

Is there a limit to how many cars are covered under a reservation booked with points?

Nope (within reason, of course). The only parking that’s limited is at the SSR Treehouses, which have only one parking spot per treehouse. Additional cars have to park in a different area.

It's not WDW, but I believe there is a 2-car limit at AUL.

Since this post covers parking, I am wondering if someone knows hat arrangements can be made when staying at OKW for a car and trailer (32' total). Most parking is single vehicle. And, it will be New Year's Eve. Any suggestions are welcome!

We’re new DVC members and We are currently staying at Pop century 11/13-11/19(still here) but we have been charged for parking. This was a cash reservation. We went to the front desk to see what/if anything could be done for parking fees. We were told that they have been instructed that the only way to wave parking fees is if the reservation was booked via points AT the home resort. I thought this was strange and came here for answers. Not finding any I figured I would share what we were told. I hope this particular cast member was misinformed. Will call member services in the AM.

The CM is correct. DVC members only get free parking when staying on points or cash at a DVC resort.

ETA, I think I misread. No free parking on a cash reservation at POP but free parking for any points reservations, not just home resort.

You’re not supposed to get free parking when you stay at pop or any other resorts not DVC on points
