Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Those desk mounted outlets WDW is using are terrible. Granted, US-style outlets are among the worst design in the world, depending solely on friction to hold plugs in. But still, the desk-mounted ones Disney's contractors are putting in really don't hold up very well at all. We've had several at BCV that were broken (both the 110V plus *and* USBs), even just a few months after the 2016 refurb. I've been to other hotels that have much older setups and that style of outlet is still fine.

You can bet they got those things on the cheap.....
Low bid usually wins the contract. I have noticed a number of areas at the YC with poor quality workmanship. On large projects with both cost and time considerations, that’s not surprising. I think Disney counts on defects and issues being brought to their attention by guests.

Shortly after the YC reopened, following the last refurb, I was fortunate to be the first guest to occupy a newly-refurbed guest room. Everything looked beautiful. Unfortunately, the closet door on the casework would not close - the door hardware had not been properly adjusted during installation. A call was placed for maintenance, and the problem was promptly fixed.

I stayed at YC shortly after the remodel and had people come by twice to touch up paint, it was really annoying. The guy said that the previous guest complained about the paint quality, and smudges on the wall, so he had to fix it. I told him the first time I hadn’t noticed anything but he insisted, and so on two different days I had to worry about wet paint in my room. I also stayed in a newly refurbed room at AKL earlier this year (beginning of February I think) and the shower doors were no good, they didn’t protect the rest of the bathroom from water at all, they just didn’t line up and there was a huge gap. The new bed platforms also make me feel like maybe I should lay off the dole whips a bit when I get on the bed, I swear one day I’m going to get in bed and the whole thing will collapse with all the noise they make.

Speaking of SAB. What is the current situation? Are you required to wear a mask while laying in a chair? Have the reduced the number of chairs? Are want staff still coming around to take orders?
Thanks in advance to any insights.

Masks are not required on the pool deck.

As pointed out below, guests of the Yacht Club and Beach Club (and Beach Club Villas) can all use the feature pool, Stormalong Bay.

Additionally, I believe the YC Quiet Pool and BCV Quiet Pool are both currently open. Can someone confirm that for me? Assuming the Beach Club Quiet Pool is not currently open, but that is just a guess on my part.
Yacht Club quiet pool is definitely open. There was a sign at the end of the hallway (past the closed-for-renovation Marketplace) showing the way to the Tidal pool (BC quiet pool) so I'm assuming it was open. It was so hot that we walked indoors as long as possible on our way to Epcot. Very eerie knowing none of those rooms were occupied.

I was in room 4098, it's a garden view room. I would hope that they get these fixed asap since the plugs at the bedsides are the ones most needed/used by guests (unless there are a whole lot of people who don't plug their phone in at night at their bedsid).I would definitely, with any room at this point, check to make sure the outlets work when you enter the room so you can get the issue resolved asap. My dad has to have his CPAP so I understand how important that is for you.
I meant to post previously - so sorry you had so many issues during your stay. I would have been upset too. I was there over the same weekend and didn't experience the service issues you did but I was also in the 409_ hallway and had issues with almost all of my USB outlets.

We were just there 8/24-27. The chairs were in sets of 3 and 4 with some space in between the sets. As far as masks: the only person we saw with a mask was the CM walking around taking drink orders (not sure if he was also taking food orders but we assumed he was....). We looked around and did not see any guests wearing a mask once inside the pool area and situated on a chair or at a table. We did see a mask flying around the pool deck and that brings up the issue of people wearing them to the pool and then losing them or the wind taking them away once at the pool. We saw some creative ways to store masks for sure, lol, with one family attaching their masks to their flip flops while laying in chairs.

We’ll be there for a week in October thanks to the recent AP discounts. Are the cabanas available? Debating a 1/2 day rental.

Is there any difference between a room in the beach club and a room in the yacht club?

Most of the rooms are very similar in size & beds. However the YC was remodeled after the BC was & the decor style is very different. Posts 7 & 8 on page 1 have detailed info on each resort & up to date pictures.

the first few posts on this thread contain a ton of very good up-to-date information. Most questions can be answered by scrolling through those couple of pages. The biggest difference between Beach Club and Yacht Club, as I see it, are two things. The first is that almost every room at the Yacht Club has a balcony or a patio. Beach Club it's about fifty-fifty. The other big difference is that the Yacht Club it's much closer to the boat dock, When they are running, of course. I hope they get them going again soon!

I spend my mornings in WDW sipping coffee on the balcony. If I make a res for a beach club room with a balcony could i get yacht club? It doesnt matter as long as we get...... you guessed it a balcony.

No. If you want a balcony and that is your priority, then you need to book YC. Most, if not all, rooms at YC have a full balcony. Very few rooms at BC have full balconies. Most of the balcony rooms are Juliette balconies. (not a balcony).

Some of the Yacht Club rooms have just a shower, no bathtub. Having a tub is important to some people.
