New Disney Theme Park reservation system

Ok, we are a family of 4 with DVC reservations in Nov. 2020 and Feb. 2021. 2 of the 4 (the girls) have gold APs that don’t expire until April 2021. The other 2 (the boys) had gold APs that expired in May 2020, now extended to sept. 2020, which doesn’t help anything. As I understand it, the girls can make park reservations for both trips Monday, but when (if ever) can the boys either renew or repurchase their gold APs and be able to make park reservations for either trip? Like, can we call on the 24th as a room only and buy them for the 2021 trip? But not 2020? I am so confused.

I started a blog and wanted to try different services to see how they worked. I used Park Savers without any issues last year. They even give you the ability to pay installments using PayPal credit. If you aren't familiar with that it is a way to pay for something in installments. Its always better to pay all up front but for those in a pinch it really works. I did it just to try it out and it worked out great!

Just so everybody knows.

Well, as it turns out, they delayed too. Temporarily suspended. CC not charged yet though so that's good. Just got the email. Will send when Disney releases sales again basically. Oh well....

Good to know. I was not aware that they suspended sales. I guess it makes sense though. I tried.

So anyone with a DVC reservation in 2020 without a ticket is currently SOL! Seems to me that this will lead to a lot of cancellations and then to a nice increase in breakage income for Disney. So Disney can keep their resorts closed while moving people into DVC resorts, all paid for by members that aren't allowed to buy tickets.

Nice!

That's it in a nutshell. DVC members should have the right to make park ressies based upon their DVC reservation per se. Members don't always have ticket media until they arrive or until 2 months before for the making of FP+. If anyone should have priority bookings, it should be DVC members.

What days and parks to people thing will be the toughest to get? I'm booked at AKV Dec 12-19. Right now, I have 2 days that I can book Monday from old no expiration option ticket. What do people think ill be the toughest to get? My plans are still fairly open. I want to do 2 days at each park my arrival day I want to do Epcot because it's open the latest and I want to do Animal Kingdom my final day. I'm staying at Kidani Village and my flight is at 10:00 p.m. So, I can do a full day at AK. What parks or dates do people think I should reserve now and which ones should I wait?

Magic Kingdom will be the toughest to get, especially the closer you get to Christmas. I think EPCOT will be the easiest because of the size.

I would go with Magic Kingdom Monday. Hollywood Studios has lower crowds on Wednesdays. I don't know about Magic Kingdom now without MVMCP but we usually did that on a Sunday. Animal Kingdom has been good for us on a Thursday or Friday. I think Epcot you can do any day with all the construction it doesn't seem to get as crowded so we usually would go on a Thursday and Saturday.

As a loyal and enthusiastic 20-year DVC member I have to say I am truly disappointed how we “landed”
as a group in all this.

I’ve been supportive of Disney throughout this unprecedented pandemic and the challenges for the company are indeed enormous. I also completely agree with keeping capacity at a minimum over the next several (or more) months to keep guests and CM’s as safe as possible.

However, the fact that the thousands (?) of DVC members who have reservations already booked between now and September 2021 may now not be able to get into a park during their stay because they hadn’t previously purchased a park pass seems really unreasonable.

In addition, as they are allowing the general public to book new 2021 reservations on Monday and buy park passes at that time as part of a “package” this also leaves DVC members out of the equation, and simply adds insult to injury.

We had already moved our November 2020 reservation to next March but hadn’t bought tickets yet (we have AP’s expiring later this summer and weren’t sure whether we were going to buy 7-day passes or APs for next year, since we have to fly down from Boston). Thus we now can’t make park reservations for our March 2021 trip. While I certainly anticipate as capacity opens up there may be more opportunities to secure park reservations, it just seems to place unreasonable stress on their loyal group of DVC members.

We are now talking about moving to next fall but then we have to deal with the 50th craziness. And I have to use a LOT of points by the end of next November given all the banking that had to happen, or we will lose them. Ugh.

Perhaps there will be upcoming news this week for DVC members that mitigate some of these challenges but it certainly seems there could have been a better way to handle this!
The stress is crazy. Far more than the actual virus has caused me personally.

Not sure old weekday crowd patterns apply at all anymore now that there are low capacity limits..... crazy times. Sad for The websites that make their dimes off of crowd calendars.

Thanks for that tip! Never used or even heard of that site before, but then again, we aren't usually buying tickets.

We just used it to purchase a 7 day ticket for our guest for Aug 1-8. It acted like it only wanted to give us 3 says but in the end, it said it was for 7 days and charged us for a 7 day one park per day. We shall see when I get the number by email. Maybe at least we have something now. The way I look at it, anything on Monday beats nothing.

Thank you!!
Beware - we bought tickes via Boardwald - website says we would have e tickets within 24 hours to add to MDE, Turns out they can't get tickets until Disney starts selling them.

I really wish Disney would put something out if it's true that only those with bookings for 2020 can start booking on Monday. The system is going to be overloaded as it is without adding those that are trying to book for 2021 and then find out they can't book yet. Also, I have seen people post that they have received an email for the trip in 2021 telling them they can book on June 22nd. While I have a reservation for Aug 2020 and have received no email.
SAME here. And people pay to take seminars to do things the Disney way...Hard to imagine anything more @#$#ed than this

I'm holding reservations for March 2021. I let our annual gold passes lapse because they would have tun between February 2020 and February 2021, and we wouldn't have been there during that time. I didn't consider buying new passes to have sitting in my account as un-redeemed because, of course, we weren't going for a year. Now, I'm without passes and the ability to buy them. Of course, Disney will eventually re-open pass sales. But, will they open up in time for us to get park reservations? That's a big unknown, because there isn't enough history for anyone to know what capacity issues or whether the reservation system will be needed 8 months from now!

I have to tip my hat to Disney's IT department yet again. I've gotten multiple email messages saying I had a DVC reservation and tickets, so I should do the park reservation thing.
And I have both a DVC reservation and an AP and have not recevied 1 email about it. Not in spam. Yes, I am checked off to receive emails. I certainly got all my cancelled ADR emails.

Thanks for somewhat confirming my thoughts. I'm thinking about booking a Magic Kingdom day and Hollywood Studios day late in my trip. I'm thinking those may be the toughest to get. Maybe Magic Kingdom Thursday 17 and DHS Friday 18. Then fill in the rest of the trip from there when tickets open back up.

Those with 2021 packages will not be able to book park reservations Monday. Only those with existing 2020 resort reservations and existing tickets linked to MDE can make park reservations Monday. I hope that's clearer. That information is straight from the horses mouth. In fact reservation specialists can't see any info on those with pre existing 2021 pkgs (in regards to booking park reservations even as of today).

Then why are there people with 2021 reservations getting emails saying they can book park reservations on Monday. This is what doesn't make sense.

Do the reservations have times?
9:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM slots?
What’s stopping AP’s from hoarding dates and not using them, as some did for FP?

AP’s can only have a maximum of 3 days on their account if they do not have a resort reservation.

It sounds like DVC members didn't get an email? Maybe just people who booked Disney World packages? I am going to call DVC. I will let you all know what I find out.

i am DVC owner with oct booked no tickets. I got the email Friday that I can book Monday....So confused

”since you are an existing ticket holder with a Disney resort or other select hotel reservation, we’re giving you access to the Disney Park Pass system beginning June 22”
